About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- dimuu0 contributionsAmazing trips 3 Districten Tour, Brokopondo DistrictstourWe went to our home country Suriname for Christmas holidays in 2023 with the family and was the first time that we visited all 10 districts in one vacation. And for me also the first time that I actually saw all in my life. With Jenny Tours Suriname we booked 3 tours; namely 3 Districten Tour, Brokopondo Districtstour, and Menimi 3-day tour (in district Sipaliwini). Where the first 2 tours were operated by themselves and were a day tour. The 3 Districten Tour was an intensive day tour were you visit the districts (provinces or states in Suriname) Saramacca, Coronie and Nickerie in this order. We got picked up very early in the morning in order to see all 3 districts since they're quite far away from the capital city Paramaribo, more than 200 km. We've seen a lot which was good, but on the other hand because we've seen a lot our brains couldn't processed clearly what we've actually seen where and when. It's a good thing camera exists to remind you which places you've seen in which district. We were only 4 people on the tour, which was nice, as it felt like a private tour and the guide who was also the driver was knowlegdeable about this area as he's from Nickerie himself. On the Brokopondo Districtstour we went to see the former Suralco Bauxite plant, hydrodam at Afobaka were we took beautiful pictures of the amazing viewpoints, the Transmigration villages of Brownsweg were we took a short boatride, and ended the tour at Ston Island which is a lovely resort at the lake. We had the same driver as in the 3 districten tour, but this time also a guide who was from this area in order to tell us about the district Brokopondo. We were only 3 people on this tour which also felt private and comfortable. For both tours breakfast and lunch were included, and as a flexi vegan (I don't eat meat nor diary, but I do eat eggs and fish rarely) it was not difficult to accommodate me as in the Surinamese cuisine lots of dishes are actually without meat or diary. And the driver went out of his way to find a place that offers these dishes. Pick up and drop-off also included in both tours. Overall, we had a great time on both tours. And the communication online with Piet of Jenny Tours was always seamless, clear and with prompt replies. The third tour Menimi 3-day tour which is a resort in Boven Suriname in the district Sipaliwini we booked via them. Eventhough they don't execute this trip, but via the communication with them they handled the booking for us and made sure our food restrictions was being taken care of as well. Definitely recommend this tour operator for your travels and tours within Suriname.Written April 24, 2024
- 92stena0 contributionsSuper nice serviceWondered what to do, see or what to be aware of. Dropped a Whatapp message to Jenny Tours and got tons of useful information within minutes, including which tours are availabe for the next days. Went to Brownsberg day tour (super nice, lots of hiking). Since there was no other tours for the following days (because of COVID related issues) I asked if there is a possibility to hire a personal guide; again within minutes, the guide was arranged. Very pleasent communication.Written October 24, 2021

- Gene R J0 contributionsNice Sunday market near Javanese Cultural Center. We took a taxi($3) 3.5 km north from our Downtown Oasis Guesthouse to the Saoena Zondagmarkt. This large Indonesian Market is 150 m from the 'Sanya Budaya' Cultural Center where the tall 1990 Javanese Immigration Monument celebrates 100 years since the 33,000 contract workers came from Java in 1890. This weekly gathering is a festival for the descendants, a flea market, has produce, ready to eat food, music, a bit of everything. Family friendly and enjoyable.Written March 1, 2020
- Hermes_NL0 contributionsHighly interesting two-day Galibi tourThe good thing of Jenny tours is that they can organize a two-day tour to Galibi on a daily basis. No waiting for other people to make the tour possible. The communication with Piet of Jenny Tours was quite quick and clear. The actual tour was highly interesting and reasonably well organised including plenty bio-breaks and food breaks. The logistics did appear to involve a lot of improvisation and also some waiting on our behalf - maybe this was because we were just a party of two and had to join other groups now and then for a particular boat or taxi trip. The boat trip from Albina to Galibi (and back) was enjoyable although there was a good chance to get wet from spray and/or rain. Albina turned out to be a slightly rough edged bustling river harbour town which was interesting to see; Galibi is a small paradise with simple but adequate lodging. Guide Imro, a native from Galibi, did a great job including cooking dinner and breakfast for us at the pleasant Kadaru lodge in Galibi. we also spent about 1 hour in Saint Laurent (French Guyana) on the way back - rather a quiet town on a Monday. We did manage to see the green Turtle - although when we arrived by boat at 10:40 PM on a beach in the neighbourhood of Galibi, she was already done with the job of laying her eggs and crawled back to the sea about 15 minutes after our arrival. I still wonder why we did not go earlier that evening ... maybe the tides made it impossible. On the other hand we did not have to stay for 3 hours on that beach which was perhaps an advantage. There was that evening also a party until 10 PM in the Galibi village, which one of us attended, it was quite fun.Written February 23, 2020
- jw2k50 contributionsExcellent tour operatorI recently visited Suriname during Xmas holidays. I contacted Jenny's tour before I arrived through whatsapp and Jan was extremely helpful and responsive. He went out of his way to make the tours I wanted happen during my short stay in Suriname. I ended up doing 3 day tours with them and all went great. The guides Daniel and Gio were both excellent. Highly recommend!Written December 29, 2019
- Rayan K0 contributionsGreat!!It was a very nice trip to the Browns Mountain. It was a big challenge but it was absolutely worth it. I would recommend it to everyone with a good physical state.Written April 30, 2019
- Roseanne V0 contributionsJeep experienceThe name jeep safari is a bit misleading, it is actually more a jeep experience. If you like to have a bit of action in the back of the jeep, this tour is for you. If you are not that adventurous, it might be too much. The guide was very experienced, and when the car got stuck in the woods, he and the owner handled it very well. Overall a nice way to explore nature around Paramaribo.Written February 3, 2019
- 111davidg0 contributionsSimple but effectiveWe booked this the same day with Jenny Tours as a dolphin watching and caiman tour. We arrived at the location out of the city (Leonsberg) and were a little disappointed to have to ask around and wait 20 mins for the boatman to arrive - he wasn’t wearing any kind of branding that showed us he was associated with the tour operator so we had a few minutes of ‘have we just been kidnapped’. Actually, he wasn’t associated directly with the operator; he is a local who the operators contact to lead out the tour. We jumped aboard a local boat and headed out to sea and I wondered if this was going to be a wash as there were no dolphins in sight, but very soon there they were jumping right in front of us and giving a little show. We saw about 10 or so and although they gave us a little show they certainly weren’t wanting to interact or come too close and at one point it felt like we were harassing them a little. After a perfect amount of time we headed up the river to the plantation, which I thought was a working plantation which is where we would be given a meal. Actually; it’s an old plantation where most of the farming has stopped and they focus on tourism. We were asked to wait in the village and then taken on a small boat to the guides’ own family home! It was a bit odd - they literally just took us into their yard where there was a table set up and brought out a coke and a roti and curry for two and walked off. We were a bit non-plus as there was no explanation. We are from Guyana so had no issue eating with our hands and enjoying the delicious food but wondered how western tourists would feel. After about 15 mins we were whisked away in the sunset to the swamps! Bizarre to say the least. We had to duck bridges and then haul the boat over a land bridge to get into the caiman swamp - all in the dead of night. I asked what would happen if we were old and could not haul the boat and the guide just laughed! Be warned! The caiman were plenty in the swamp but very small and the guide wanted to catch one but kept missing. As we felt him give up he spotted one and it turned out to be a huge one which he caught and bound and took him back to the land bridge for photos. WEAR MOSQUITO REPELLENT! In the boat I didn’t feel I needed the repellent but once we stopped, wow! We took some photos with the caiman and it was the released. He didn’t seem too bothered and the guide was very careful and respectful of him. Came back to the plantation and then the boat back to the stelling. Be warned when you get back the place is dead. The guide kindly called us a taxi and waited with us. We ended up waiting 40 mins and then the driver tried to scam us and charge double and was very aggressive. So maybe arrange your own trusted transportation.Written November 14, 2018
- Giselle C0 contributionsGreat Tour ( one worker talked in Dutch didnt care for English speaker)-Mr. John did such a good job ( he definitely needs a raise :-). His love for his job is visible. The other worker talked in Dutch ( during this part of the tour ), he mentioned that someone should translate; so yes I paid US$ 70 for someone to boldly tell me he will talk in Dutch because it is easier for him ( keep in mine the advertisement say tour is in English and Dutch). Misleading: It is not a buffet. I chose this Trip over the other one because of the buffet. The worker purchased random food in containers (so bambi or rice) in the morning on one of the stops. Then you have to choose one of the container ( so if there is 5 persons, there is 5 food container). It is who choose first got what they prefer. Drinks were water , a bottle of Sprite/Cola/Juice. The food is cold , it was in the bus since morning. However, there were warm and yummy breakfast snack to eat on the bus ride. It was a long drive back and it was cold (walk with a jacket). Walked with swim wear to swim and shoes that can get dirty with mud. There were these kind of bees that stung through clothes ( during the hike). You can see monkey, birds, beautiful neon blue butterfly etc, no snakes) Overall the attraction is what is important ( not the food). I would do the tour again with confirmation before that guide will respect choice of language.Written September 4, 2018
- buxtonred0 contributionsAdventureWe did two tours with Pete and the gang, and had an awesome time. The 5 day voltzberg trip was the best tour of our trip so far. Heaps of fun. If you need any info or help, it's best to call Pete or Jan, they will sort you out. Pete is a good cook, and had no trouble with our vegetarian diet. I would definitely recommend them to take care of your tours.Written February 10, 2018
- Andrea S0 contributionsa night at Matapica beach with the turtlesWe planned last minute this incredible experience via interent the day before without knowing what to really expect. It was a perfect little trip out of town, straight to wild nature. After a taxi ride and a boat ride across the Commewijne River, we jumped on a narrow 3 people boat and went through the swamp, open water and mangroves area. Luckily that night we were the only ones to sleep on the beach and the all "adventure/nature experience" was just perfect! On the way to and back we stopped eating at Mevrouw Dipai's house where we had a fantastic roti meal, sitting on the porch of her house: amazing! Thank You Jenny Tours.Written June 1, 2017
- Hanne A0 contributionsCrisscrossing SurinamWe had planned a month's holiday in Suriname. We contacted Jenny Tours and asked them to put together a program, where we could see as much nature as possible. They came up with a tour suggestion, which met all our requirements and wishes. Well done! On 3 of these tours we was lucky enough to have Winston (Arafat) as guide. This guy knows nature and is a good communicator and always I good mood. In Bigi Pan we stayed at Mantjes place. What that man can spot, even in the dark - is fantastic. Thank you to Jan, Arafat, Mantjes and the rest of the team at Jenny Tours.Written April 15, 2017
- Vicki d0 contributionsBrownsberg tourPiet did a great job with our Brownsberg tour and was a wonderful source of information about Suriname. He made the car trip a pleasure and so relaxed. My husband had an excellent trek to the Irene waterfall with Herbert while I enjoyed the spectacular view of the lake from the top. The website could be a little better, clearer about choices and purchasing the tour in person was a little sketchy but all in all, it was a great experience and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company for tours in Suriname. Great people.Written December 25, 2016
- sofke8868b0 contributionsGreat trip to Voltzberg and Raleighfalls! The trip to Voltzberg and Raleighfalls is the best tour I did in Suriname. The road to get there is quite long and dusty, and not very comfortable at all, followed by a quite long boat trip (2,5 - 3 hours) - but the stay in the rainforest is absolutely worth it! The camp is quite basic, but different kind of accommodation is possible (hammocks, dormitories and private rooms). We chose for private rooms which was well worth it. The beds were comfortable (actually we expected a lot worse) and mosquito nets were provided. The trip to Voltzberg was long but not too strenuous. I was afraid that the climb would be tough but it only takes about half an hour to get on top (with several breaks). The longest part was the walk through the jungle (which got a little tiring towards the end). The Raleighfalls walk the next day was a lot easier. And we had the opportunity to float down the river, which was quite cool! The staff was brilliant as well, with a very knowledgeable guide (in fact during the walks there were two guides, one on the front and one on the end of the line), a good driver and a cook. Most meals were tasty - we did eat a lot of chicken though (I guess not much else was available there). I'd definitely recommend this trip to nature-lovers. The rainforest in this part of the country is really pure and it's amazing to experience this jungle.Written October 10, 2016

I have gone ATVing around the world but my trip last week was on a completely different level. I had two guides and I was the only person going. I didn't think they were going to go because the rain was coming down so hard you could barely see ahead of you and the mud was everywhere. My guides didn't seem to mind but they wanted me to change into something that I could get wet in. I changed into a swimsuit and T-shirt/raincoat and water shoes. They started me slow down a jungle road but swiftly I was racing up and down the jungle terrain with rain coming so hard I could barely see the road ahead of me. We were going through mud ponds with water up to my knees and racing through grass savannah. It was absolutely crazy outrageous. I became stuck at one time but my guides easily got me out of it. My guides cost $60 for an hour and a half private tour extravaganza. I tipped my guides $20 and for the $80 I will have memories for the rest of my life. I wish I could go again now. This is something that cannot be missed.
