This retreat takes place in most sacred and beautiful sites in both Bolivian Andes and Jungle. Welcome to come to BOLIVIA, the best kept secret of south America, where something very special and sacred has been developing and coming to fruition under the radar for the last 30 years under the tuition of the Sacha Runa Healing Community working for more than 30 years integrating many spiritual traditions to bring humanity together as ONE, serving with Respect, Love, Devotion, Surrender and helping people safely but powerfully connect to the Divine Light and their inner truth, manifest their potential and fulfill their destiny as beacons of Light working for the benefit of all sentient beings.  In 2006, Miguel Kavlin, the founder of the Sacha Runa Healing Community had a revelation of the Condor and Eagle Prophecy manifest to him at the ceremonial Healing Chamber in the Bolivian Andes accompanied by the Divine Presence. It behooves all of us to embody this state of grace to Bless All

I spent a week in the jungle, deeply experiencing the rhythms of the Amazon at Sacha Runa's shamanic healing center on the river Beni. It was the rainy season and still my experience in the jungle was spectacular. The log cabins on the reserve are built in such a way that you feel both protected and entirely immersed in the surrounding nature. I spent much of my time outside of ceremony resting in my cabin, allowing the scents and sounds of the river, the rain and the rainforest to reset and retune my energy. I was also lucky to share my time at the retreat with a beautiful and kind group of people who had been on retreat for over a month. Participating in 4 medicinal ceremonies over the course of the week with the group as well as Juan, the Shaman, was transformative. I am so grateful...All in all I wish the opportunity to know the peace of this place and the people who run it, to anyone who gets a chance. Juan will make you feel comfortable, seen and safe -- that I guarantee -- and I trust his guidance (humble, wise, gentle and profoundly knowledgable) both within and beyond the context of ceremony.

Life changing experience. I felt safe all the time under the chaman’s guidance. I learned and felt exactly what I was needing at that especific moment. It was a small group of people which created a serene and tranquil atmosphere .Totally recommend it. Would repeat it without a doubt.

The best you'll find in Bolivia.
Jul 2020
I had the pleasure of visiting Sacha Runa for two ceremonies. The first was on July of 2020 and the second one on October of the same year.

Both were led by Miguel Kavlin. When I first contacted him for information, he asked me if I dealt with any mental or health issue, for which i said No, then he sent me all the preparations i needed to have days prior to the ceremonies so I did my best to stay on course.
He told me the price but he also said that because of the pandemic, he was aware that many people are struggling financially, and he wouldn't let that stop people from healing themselves, so he accepted whatever amount we felt like giving...

Once the day of both ceremonies arrived I went with a friend to the Sacha Runa place and was marvelled about it, the place is truly heaven-like, you feel such a peace you don't ever wanna leave, there are cute llamas roaming around and they are very peaceful too. We began the ceremony and we were told that we shouldn't roam around and leave the group, that we should stay together.

Ceremonies themselves are very well led, I really felt taken care of, everything I could think of was dealt with before the ceremony started... I felt safe.

This ceremonies are experiences that have a profound effect on someones life, a very positive effect. I learned a lot, I healed even more. I am so grateful of both experiences. It is very, very complete, he gave us rooms to sleep after the ceremonies, we had breakfast the next day and another ceremony to gather all experiences and for feedback.

It was so complete and I was so gratefull for the amazing experience i had that I gave him even more money when I left, because I felt so ashamed of just giving him 3/4 of the price. I completed the price, and I would have payed double of what he was asking for, had I known what the experience was like. I think all that speaks for itself.

Then I learned that he has more than 30 years of experience so it figures...

World’s best healer

I can only say from personal experiences that I have never felt more safe and comfortable then with Miguel. I was there only a few days ago and found him hugely professional and his healing truly outstanding and life changing for me. I would happily recommend anyone to his retreat.

If you want to clean your soul in a genuine and beautiful place, then this is the retreat for you.
Jan 2021
I had the pleasure of doing my first ceremony with both Miguel and Juan. Its was a very magical and musical experience, I had a wonderful time (though I know that is not the case so often as many people attend ceremonies to liberate past traumas). Miguel was very attentive to everyone in the room and he explained very carefully how the experience might go. The next day he listened very about attentively to each of our experiences.
It surprises me that someone could give a bad review of an ayahuasca ceremony (when it is done with good shamans) as each experience is unique and personal. Sacha Runa offers nice accommodations and very beautiful landscapes, you are not coming to a day spa, you are coming to a soul spa, do not confuse the both. The shamans are not there to babysit you, they are there to guide you through the experiences.
If you want to clean your soul in a genuine and beautiful place, then this is the retreat for you.

Unsafe Shaman with No integrity; A young woman died recently

This review is mainly about Miguel Kavlin the main shaman and the owner of Sacha Runa. The first few days of my stay felt like magic, but all the magic went away once I saw the true face of Miguel.

UNSAFE due to the following:

During the San Pedro pilgrimage, which was a full day hike on the mountainous Sun Island, we were a group of 16 people. We were supposed to stay together to maintain the safety and the cohesiveness of the group, however, Miguel who was leading the ceremony, was too fast ahead and didn’t care to keep pace with other participants, especially that many of us were having our first experience with San Pedro and there was a lot of purging. This resulted in a huge separation of the group, and I was often walking for a long time, sometimes an hour or more without seeing any member of the group. Because of that, we nearly lost another participant when we all reached the final stop then realizing he was not there.

Before the Sun-Moon dance, I expressed concerns regarding my ability to fast with no food or water for 3 days. Miguel said, if you feel that you can’t continue the dance, you can always leave. However, during the dance, when I wanted to leave, he ridiculed me in front of others and said “you’re not a little girl.” When my body couldn’t take it anymore, the process of leaving the dance took about 2 hours to allow me a sip of water.

Going from Allkamari to The Sun Island, Miguel drove recklessly with 8 of us in his car and he nearly had 3 accidents. He nearly hit an old woman and made her jump in horror off the road and didn’t even stop to check on her.

He never asked about my medical history or any physical or mental health issues. He also never briefed me, neither in person nor in a group about the safety precautions I need to take before participating in the sun and moon dance or plant ceremony.

During my first and only Ayahuasca ceremony at Sacha Runa, it was just he and I. He left the ceremony frequently for a lengthy time. He explained after the ceremony that he wasn’t feeling well in his stomach for the last few days and needed the bathroom. Why would he risk holding a ceremony with just him and me if he knew he wasn’t well and can’t fully support me during my first experience?

NO INTEGRITY for the following reasons:

He made promises he knew he couldn’t fulfill just to get money out of me.
When I contacted Miguel about the course, I initially wanted to start at the beginning of January, however, he pushed really hard for me to come in the middle of December to participate in the Sun-Moon dance. He said the course is going to be an intense learning experience and I will be participating in 2 to 3 ceremonies a week. He also said half of it will be in Allkamarin (the mountain retreat) and right after the Wachuma pilgrimage which ends on December 30, we will go to the jungles to start my Ayahuasca diet. These were all lies.
Miguel later told me he has to be in Santa Cruz to meet with lawyers at the beginning of January for unknown period of time (maybe a few days) to deal with legal issues he has, and no one will be in the jungles. Despite him knowing about his legal issues well in advance, he pushed for me to come during those days, which meant that there was no time for me to go to the jungle for my Ayahuasca diet. I guess he wanted someone to pay for his legal fees.

We discussed the living arrangement before booking my flight, and he promised me a room with a private bathroom, and I agreed that another female may share the room with me, but I wasn’t going to share a room or a bathroom with 16 others in the dorms. After about 10 days of my stay, I was told that my room is booked and I need to move to the dorms. When I asked Miguel to honor our agreement he told me: “You can’t be poor and expect to be treated like a princess.” I ended up booking a tour for 5 days to stay away until my room is available. Of course, he never offered a refund or compensation for those days.

After, about a week of my stay, I realized that there was no learning happening. Miguel was not holding talks or explanations about the shamanic practices as he promised. He was rarely present and always too busy on the phone. When I addressed this issue with him, he said: “ Those rituals, anyone can make them up and you can learn from books.”
That’s when I realized he is a fraud and I am wasting my time. I decided to pay for a new ticket to go back home. When he found out, he promised me one more ceremony before I go, but of course, he never fulfilled his promise.

When I asked for a refund, he said: “ Your room cost $100 a night, and now you owe me money.” Bear in mind that my tiny room didn’t even have a closet and I was showering with cold muddy/brown water from a bucket during most of my stay because they have a serious water problem. So the room based on this condition couldn’t cost more than $10 based on other Bolivian hotels.

Before going to Bolivia, I asked Miguel specifically if anyone died or had a medical emergency during a retreat and he LIED and said no. Later, when I asked the question again to other employees and participants, I was that a young woman died in the third week of November during her retreat. Observing how Sacha Runa has no safety procedure or psychological assessment in place made me believe that there was some negligence from their side.

These are only some of the bad things that happened during my Shamanic course at Sacha Runa. There were many other incidents I observed including bullying and betrayals from Miguel, however, since they didn’t directly affect me I am not going to discuss them here. Feel free to contact me if you want to learn more.

Despite my very negative experience with Sacha Runa, I met wonderful people on their healing journey. I also had a positive interaction with the other 3 shamans Juan, Angela, and Philip.

Dearest let’s start with the title of your post which couldn’t have been more mean spirited And destructive. In fact a women did die after one of our courses and not during one of our courses but in a swimming accident In the Beni River. Her post regarding the course which she posted after the course was finished you can read below (her name is Megan) and see what kind of an experience she had with us. She indeed was an earnest and courageous participant who came to do the three month retreat and she fully flowered in the retreat, as in all things, you get out as much as you put in and she did it wholeheartedly. To use her tragic departure to seek out you mean revenge is to dishonor her path. Shameful really! The fact that you would even bring that up says a lot about you dear. Regarding this and Pedro pilgrimage on the island of the sun you neglected to mention that another Shaman Juan was supposed to take care of the back end and I was leaving so therefore there was always someone behind you but thanks anyway I’m sure they’ll mission was intended. From the beginning in our conversations you haggled with us so that in fact we gave you the price for one month that we only give for People who come for three months or longer as a consideration to your budgetary needs. You also insisted on having a private room which nobody else got, even those who are participating for three months or more. It is true I was insistent on your coming before the sun moon dance because it is the most sacred and important rite that we hold every year and I felt that this year in particular would be a very powerful and important time and I thought you would benefit from participating in it. The truth is that once you arrived and after we had the first ayahuasca experience -which I did specially for you because you were the only one that arrived so late- we started to prepare for the sun moon dance with sweat lodges and for both sweat lodges you stepped in, lasted five minutes and bolted out the door. I thought that was not a very committed or courageous ir earnest engagement on your part but I let it pass as maybe you suffer from claustrophobia. For the dance however it was explained well to everybody and as you had some concerns before I clearly explain to you that many people have danced in the 25 years that we do the dance and that No one ever gets hurt and that it is the mind that suffers and not the body. Even a person without a kidney has completed the dance and I also explained that anyone who wishes to leave if they happened to find a block that they couldn’t go through are allowed to leave and nobody’s obligated but that we do encourage people to try as hard as they can to complete the offering as this is a sacrifice for the well-being of all sentient beings and that if we can’t go on any longer for our own sake sometimes thinking that we are doing it for the well-being of others help us to go further and may be complete the dance. By this point I was feeling uneasy about your commitment to your spiritual growth and weary about your attachment to comfort and security.l and tour need for attention. When the first morning after only having slept one night at the Sun-Moon dance arbor you requested to leave the dance I knew there was no physical reason why that would happen and it has never happened before. You wanted out without putting any effort nor endurance and to me it showed a lack of selfless sacrifice and commitment to service. Our main motto is love, devotion and surrender, and we dance to surrender to the Tree of Life, the symbol for the Center, the heart and the supreme Source, and we dance to overcome our obstacles, turn them over to the center in faith and devotion, connect to Source and receive the blessings and send the blessings ro all Of creation so that the circle of Life life may go on. Unfortunately you are were unable or unwilling to do that. I sought to encourage you as I always do people who wanna leave the dance to stay a little longer And try to do your best because we are in this course to overcome our self imposed limitations and not remain in our comfort zone. You insisted however on leaving the dance and of course was allowed to and you continued to support from outside for the next two days watching everybody Old and young men and women plow through their offering in earnest sacrifice for the well-being of all, and 23 people completed the dance. Yet you were honored also as it is important to recognize when one is not ready to go through whatever blockage has come up and that the person that leaves does it for all of us and so we honored you for it in our talking circle. However as the rest of the group was ready to rest from the dance you chose to leave the group and go on a personal tour to Uyuni salt flats which I thought was a little strange considering your insistence on your budgetary constraints. Then we were getting ready to do a pilgrimage to the island of the sun and I clearly explain to you my Concerns about your participation because in a pilgrimage we cannot have anyone start up the journey and then decide they wanna go home or go back to their bed because we have to complete the work and complete the journey and it has to be done as a group and you promised to do so. I also explained the journey is not finished us with all our ceremony until after the talking circle is completed the day after only den is the ceremony finished .We had a most magical man miraculous pilgrimage on the full moon on the island of the sun on Titicaca lake you don’t seem to remember much about it not have expressed any appreciation for the beauty and the sacredness there was experienced by everybody else. Of course I wouldn’t know what your experience was like because even though we thrice repeat it to you that you must stay for the talking circle afterwards where we process our experience and share whatever we I’ve gone through during the pilgrimage you nonetheless decided to leave before the talking circle happened. And when I asked you afterwards to at least write about your experience so I could help you process it, you never did.instead you decided to take another personal tour to the jungle even though you refused to leave a 10% tip that we had suggested. I thought that was an utter lack of respect and commitment to the group and to your own process and thanks to you we have decided to put it on our webpage that any such disregard for our Ceremonial protocols will Be enough reason to discontinue anyone’s participation in our retreats, without a refund . I will also say that you were insistent upon me giving theoretical lessons and I clearly explained to you that the shamanic path was experiential and that we actually endeavor to get out of our heads and try not to foster any intellectual story, But rather try to enter into the silence and the stillness beyond the mind where we can experience the truth the lies buried deep within. You demonstrated all the time to be capricious, manipulative and spoiled. And I am sorry but we we do not cater or pamper people who come to feed their Egos but rather Encourage people to come who are willing to commit to serious spiritual growth surrender their egos and are earnest about seeking their inner truth and a connection to source. I expressed in my last message to you that I am sorry we were not able to serve you better but we are not a five star tourist accommodation. Our retreat centers are comfortable, beautiful, sacred but rustic and indeed in the Andes sometimes in the dry season there is a shortage of water and I am sorry if you were not given a Jacuzzi and a foot massage along with it. But again you got many special accommodations made to try to please you. As you can see we have been working for over 25 years and have helped thousands of people and most of the reviews Are excellent. This is a very intensive training retreat you participated in and I’m afraid it was not the right match for you. Once again my apologies for not serving your needs as you expected and for our shortcomings but we must also keep true to our mission and our integrity. I wish you all the best and send you many blessings and pray that you find the right match for you in the near future. For the record I include below Megan’s review before her unfortunate accident: meganrichards_83 22 Reviewed Nov 08 2020 Incredible retreat experience Review of: Sacha Runa From the moment I arrived at Sacha Runa for the start of a three month retreat and learning program I knew that I had landed in a profoundly special place and community. After two weeks with the program I am feeling an extraordinary sense of gratitude for this opportunity, for the Sacha Runa Community and for the incredible healing and teaching work offered by Miguel. Over the last fortnight I have participated in a series of wachuma and ayahuasca ceremonies at both the Alkamari and Rurrenabaque centers. In each of these ceremonies I have been able to work through deep personal blocks, develop insights and clarity into long standing life patterns and receive deep healing. Both the jungle and Andes retreat centres offer gorgeous environments in which to deep dive into the work and your personal process. In the Andes I would wake each morning to the sunrise over the snow capped mountain peaks and in the jungle have the opportunity each day to swim in the crystal clear rivers, hike tracks around the centre and enjoy the company of the Amazonian wildlife including butterflies , Monkeys and armadillos. If you are looking for an opportunity to participate in beautiful, transformative plant medicine work I thoroughly recommend joining a program or retreat with Sacha Runa.

Life Changing Journey
Oct 2019
I spent around 6 days at Wizard’s Mountain Healing Retreat in October 2019. I met Phillip in Rurrenabaque so we could get know each other and I wanted to know more on what I was signing up for. I read a lot online and was nervous. I had a good first impression with Phillip and decided to do a 3 days retreat with one ceremony. When I arrived at Wizard’s Mountain Healing Retreat, I met Angela who was also a shaman. She prepared my meals which were very healthy and delicious. I was sick and had a terrible cough for a month. Phillip prepared a medicine using plants that I drank everyday. It helped with my cough and I started to get better. I spent most of my time alone and disconnected from the outside world. My first ceremony was alone with Phillip and Angela which was a rare thing. They usually do not have private ceremonies but they made an exception for me. It was one of the most beautiful experience ever. I decided to do another ceremony. My second ceremony had 8 travelers. It was one of the most terrifying experience ever but I knew Ayahuasca was trying to show me something and I felt safe with Phillip and Angela. Both ceremonies from start to finish were incredible. Phillip and Angela are the nicest and most caring and open minded people I have ever met. I learned a lot and have a different perspective because of the whole experience. It was tough to make sense of my Ayahuasca experiences after I left the retreat for the first week or two. I think about my time at retreat almost everyday since I left. It helped heal many wounds and made me want to improve and be a better person everyday. I had most of my questions answered and do not think I need to do another ceremony anytime soon. If I do, I would definitely come back to Wizard’s Mountain Healing Retreat for Phillip and Angela. The whole experience at and after the retreat was very positive. Thanks for everything!

There's a "Before and After" of the Ceremony
Feb 2020
It was my first experience with Ayahuasca, and even though I stayed informed as much as I could before doing it, it felt nervous. Once I contacted Sacha Runa, they made me feel I was in good hands.
Juan takes care of everyone in this inner trip, guiding and helping to integrate the full experience providing a safe physical, emotional and spiritual space.
There's a "before and after" in a positive way after my ceremony and that's due to Juan and the Sacha Runa Team.
Planning to have more ceremonies in the future, at least once a year, and planning to do it with Sacha Runa for sure.
Thank you, Juan and Sacha Runa!!!

The most intense and impactful month of my life!
Dec 2019
Our journey began with an ayahuasca ceremony with Miguel at Allkamari, pictured here, after three days acclimatizing to the elevation in La Paz. Then three days on the very sacred Isla del Sol, on Lake Titicaca with Miguel, which included a huachuma ceremony in nature, and some ceremonies connecting with the land and sacred spirits. I experienced Miguel as a totally devoted and committed shaman, who both followed Spirit's direction to him precisely, hence the location and building of Allkamari, and continuing to this day, from moment to moment, guiding people into vertical connection and a dropping of their painful identifications -- and who is also tuned into the needs and inner states of those he is guiding. He pushed our limits with kindness and sensitivity, a perfect balance. I also experienced him as confident, commanding and strong. I felt very safe under his guidance, and my experience proves that the three-week session he crafted has been expertly and precisely designed, and delivers more than one could ever hope for.

From here we went to the jungle for 10 days of special diets and healing teas, with silence, rest, and the sounds, sights and feeling of paradise. So many creatures reset neural pathways, and tangled wiring and ancestral trauma was healed and released through the combination of diet, teas, rest, and Mother Aya. Phillipe supported by partner Anjela were our loving guides at this juncture, and once again, I have never felt so unconditionally supported and loved, and in such capable, humble, and knowledgeable hands. One ceremony would lead to the next, and my questions received answers, and knots of a lifetime became untangled. Much gratitude.

Then back to Allkamari for an amazing full-moon huachuma ceremony with yet another amazing and gifted shaman, Juan, four temescals, or sweat lodges, and the ultimate challenge, the three-day sun-and-moon dance with no food or water. I am still speechless, after almost a week home. All I can say is that I have been reborn. My mind is silent and still in such a delicious way. The impact of every ceremony, every shaman, every meaningful burnt offering, prayer of thanks, being on energetic ley lines in every location, the stunning nature which communicated with us, Mother Earth and Father Sky... all is healed and connected, every experience a part of me now, and nothing is the same: a total reset, wholeness and sustained inner stillness for the first time ever. Beyond words, so grateful, all should go and experience the beautiful, transformative process that Sacha Runa offers. Thank-you, and blessings to all.
