What to expect
Board your air-conditioned vehicle in central Beirut or at your Beirut hotel, and listen to tales of Lebanese culture and history as you cruise through the pretty countryside. Your first stop is the Qadisha (“Holy”) Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the pretty town of Bsharri. Stroll the ancient town with your guide as you learn about the 20th-century poet and artist Khalil Gibran, who was born here. See religious monuments and the Gibran Museum, then stop for a traditional lunch of “mezze” (small dishes served tapas-style). This is about the Nakhal Tour. The destinations are excellent and while Baalbek, Byblos, Zahle, Beiteddine and other locales would be higher on my list, this is a very interesting set of destinations.

My complaint is that the tour guide, a trained archaeologist, talked incessantly without finding out from the travelers what their interests were. By the time we reached the first sites, I had a headache. She did a fairly good job describing the long life cycle of the Cedars of Lebanon, the Gibran museum was self- touring, but she provided little context to Qadisiyeh. Disappointed. By the way, there are tours that hike the Qadisiyeh Valley. If you are fit enough to do so, I would recommend.

Touring in Northern Lebanon, viewing the beautiful landscape. As it is far from the city and high up, the air is very fresh. In winter months, it can get very cold there, so, don't forget to bring a coat. We had a good lunch, but unfortunately the restaurant was not heated.

Stunning, beautiful journey into the heart of mt Lebanon,

We had a brief stop for a light morning snack as we were given warning that we weren't due to eat until the afternoon. This provided a short stretch, a snack/toilet or smoke break.

the first stop at the Gibran museum allows you a quick insight into the life of this influential Lebanese writer, the museum is an old monastery built into some caves. I appreciate that this kinda detour may not be for everyone, but I was certainly glad it was on the way.

The second stop is the 'Cedars of God' which is the last remaining outcrop of Lebanese Cedars actually On Mt Lebanon, while nothing compared to its former glory, you can see the conservation work happening in the mountains, and the park itself offers some absolutely stunning views. These trees and this mountain range was written about in the Epic of gilgamesh and is such an exciting historic place in human history. Unfortunately my group had a reduced time at the cedars, but this was due to an unforseen circumstance causing a lot of traffic on the road from Beirut, so the time we had here was dramatically shortened (we had just 45 minutes compared to the 1.5-2hrs normally afforded). This wasn't any fault to the tour operators and so can't really penalise them for it. There are plenty of carved cedar merchandise nearby also so you can get a piece of the history and support the local area too.

Our lunch was absolutely amazing, we stopped at an amazing restaurant with amazing views, and amazing food. Sharing plates of mixed salad, Tabbouleh, Kibbeh, flat bread, hummous, grilled meats, beer/softdrinks finished off with some mixed fruits. (I would warn that the honeyed figs are super amazing but so sweet that everything after becomes tasteless XD)

Then we travelled down the valley to the Monastery of Saint Antonio, you can see the original cave where the early christians hid from persecution, which later developed into a monastery, absolutely stunning views and architecture.

Unfortunately, I dont think this trip is good for children, but for couples, friends, solo etc, this kind of venture is a must if you are in Lebanon.

The on my trip to both the cedars and to Baalbek, the guides were friendly, funny, informative, knowledgeable, kind, hospitable and approachable. They gave local information of the towns and locations while we travelled through Lebanon as well as giving a broader view of the country's history,

This is a VERY long day out that simply attempts to do too much because timekeeping is not adhered to by some very selfish guests who think everyone else should sit about and wait for them. The day was eleven and a half hours' long because we waited and waited and waited at The Cedars, a stop that required no more than twenty minutes unless people went for a walk in the slush under the trees. The Gibran Museum was another half hour stop, given longer, and by the time we go to St Anthony's Monastery, it really was half an hour and that, potentially, had more interest than any other stop. People who add 40 minutes to the time given should be left behind and have to take a taxi back to Beirut at their own expense. We spent two and a half hours looking at barely moving rear brake lights. Really disappointing and, had I not paid for another trip the next day, I would not have bothered. The coaches are okay; the guiding basic.

Not spectacular sights, but really nice. Our guide Cie, is really fun, and taught us lots, we were fortunate to have her for our guide. Van was kind of rickety, broke down in the end, but they got a replacement quickly. It was sad that the Cedars park was closed from snow, I’m surprised it didn’t get plowed. But still amazing to see the forest of the gods, that built the ancient world, Definitely time and money well spent,
