For a small country, Lebanon packs a whole ton of history into a seriously compact space—which doesn’t mean it’s easy to get around. Rather than risk driving, amateur historians will thrill to this day tour. Discover the UNESCO-listed sites of Roman-era Baalbek and early Islamic Anjar with an informative local guide—and enjoy a restaurant lunch too.
Highlights
- Explore two separate UNESCO World Heritage sites: Baalbek and Anjar
- Visit Chateau Ksara, one of Lebanon’s oldest wineries
- Savor traditional Lebanese “meze” (tapas) at a local restaurant
- Enjoy expert insights from your local guide
What to Expect
Greet your guide at your central hotel or their downtown office and board your air-conditioned vehicle for UNESCO-listed Baalbek, known for its impressive Roman ruins including the massive Temple of Jupiter.
Relax over a lunch of “meze” (tapas) at a local restaurant before driving onto Anjar. UNESCO recognized it as a World Heritage Site for its early Islamic ruins, the remains of an 8th-century city and palace complex founded by the Umayyad dynasty.
Finally, continue to Ksara, where ancient caves are home to Chateau Ksara, Lebanon’s oldest winery. After a winery tour, board your vehicle to return to your Beirut starting point.

It was perfect, the tour guide is an archeologist and really has passion for what she does. Great sites to visit, great lunch too, and the tempo was good, didn’t feel rushed. Definately recommended.

We had a great tour. We saw places and attractions that we had not been able to trace of our own. Our guide had very good knowledge of history and the attraction. He was a very nice person and we really enjoyed the tour.

The guide wasn't too knowledgable (I asked a very evident question, he didn't know the answer and - worse - gave a completely wrong answer, beside the point) but especially the tour was badly organised: we got (a very good) lunch only at 15h00, about 8 hours after breakfast,…

I was travelling alone in Lebanon so I was suggested to tour with Nakhal to visit Baalbek. The places we visited were amazing, but we were on a very strick schedule so we didn't had enough time to enjoy, especially in Baalbek. We went for a very long lunch, it was tasteful, but…

The sites are a must see, Baalbek specifically is one of the best archaeological sites I've been to, and I've seen a fair share. Lunch was delicious and more than enough food. Our guide did a great job delivering lots of interesting information throughout the entire trip. Wished…
