        Must visit
This was an excellant place to visit to show the horrors of war. It is a bit anti-America, but history is written by the victors. Even the teenage daughters got something out of it,

The American War from Vietnam's perspective
Being Australian, I was aware of the Vietnam (or American) War as Australia also had troops here. I knew about the war from Australia's perspective rather than an American or Vietnamese perspective. I learnt about Agent Orange, though. This museum was previously known as something like the war crimes museum. Its presents the war from a Vietnamese perspective with a major focus on atrocities committed by America. It's confronting and overwhelming. There are a number of large rooms focussed on particular aspects of the war with hundreds and hundreds of photos about events and individuals. With accompanying text. Lots to read, lots to take in. Too much to read, too much to take in unless you have lots of time. Stories and photos about people impacted by Agent Orange were particularly confronting. Also stories about missing journalists, impacted families and individuals, war crimes. The list goes on. There is also a section on protest medals from the US jus5 to show there was another side in that country. Mostly Westerners in this section of the museum. The rest of the place was packed out wit( tourists, locals and lots of secondary students. An eye-opening place and, to my mind, a must-see.

Every American should visit to see the atrocities inflicted on Vietnam
This was a really interesting albeit difficult visit to a museum that shows the full horror of the Vietnam war and the atrocities that the US Govt inflicted on Vietnam, with it's use of Agent Orange in particular, as well as Napalm etc. There are various exhibits and rooms spread over three floors as well as an outdoor area displaying some of the armoury and planes used by the US. Very poignant place, and very thought provoking particularly at this time with what's going on in Gaza and Ukraine. This side of the story needs to be told in the US to open up the eyes of the country to what it has done "in the name of peace" 😥😥

Challenging Museum chiefly chronicling American war crimes in the Vietnam War
Firstly we didn't go on a tour - just walked in and bought a ticket - so I am not sure whether this is the right place to review! As others have said this museum is not for the feint hearted. Its name is a little spurious as it is really a museum totally committed to presenting the horrors and atrocities the Americans committed in the Vietnam war. It presents only one side of the story chronicling what the Americans did and the impact it had. That said, for those of us in the UK who were alive at the time and thought we were aware of the war, it provided a very sharp awakening to the terrible atrocities of war, especially the Vietnam war. We know the Americans largely escaped any retribution and it is clear that carried out some heinous crimes. Some of the rooms, especially the photos of those handicapped and disfigured by the chemical weapons used are extremely hard to see and my partner had to leave the room part way through. There was far more to read than we were expecting and it was too much to take it all in. One could spend hours here if one was prepared to look at everything. I think it could do with more videos - there was only one mainly describing the cages used to keep prisoners showing in the main hall. Another challenge was that the main atrium is not air conditioned and on the very hot humid day we visited it, it became a dash into the various rooms to try and keep cool. Additionally, apart from in the main entrance, there are very few seats, no escalators to the upper floors and only one lift supposedly for disabled and older people. We used it and there wasn't a long wait.

        All should visit
It is one of the most horrific museums I have ever visited. To see firsthand the atrocities of the American War in Viet Nam was something I will NEVER forget. This is a hard hitting Museum not for the feint hearted but all should visit.

        Interesting, informative and upsetting
We stopped here as part of a Jeep Tour of Saigon. Our guide was very informative about the museum, told us some personal stories and then left us to look around on our own. Some of the facts and photos are quite upsetting but does also touch on both sides. Lots of it is also very interesting and if we only learn one thing is that this should never happen again.

        A Nice Historial Place
A great place to visit. Lots of photo from the war time which is informative. Worth a visit and at least spend 2 hours+ to fully read through all information of the history.

        A difficult but necessary visit
A well worth visit with a dip into the horror, which was the American war in Viet Nam. Obviously written from a position of the victorious, so a reasonable amount of one-sided stance. However, the atrocities are well documented and fact based. There is a great deal of Make Peace, not War ideology, which we could do with more if today. Please be aware that there are some very graphic images in the museum.

        A must visit- heart rendind
Oh my, what a place! Heart rendering. Thought provoking. Saddening, sickening. Can people really get worse with what we do with each other? Each room was moving. I couldn't bare to go into the massacre room, having seen the torture and agent orange exhibits. This is a must see for everyone, and a reminder that powerful forces such as the USA should never be allowed to control the world. I think the Vietnamese people have been very kind in their exhibition in gently discussing the issues that other countries put them under for many many years. Sadly, I don't think the world has learned.

Worth Seeing, but It’s Not Comprehensive.
Do not expect a comprehensive review of the wars against France and the USA. It’s about the effects on Vietnamese during these conflicts. Nothing on any behavior from the Vietnamese Cong or North Vietnamese, except they ended up winning. Good exhibits though the points tend to be over-made.

        An interesting and informative museum
This museum provides a good insight into French and USA intervention in Vietnam (mainly USA). As a UK citizen these wars were certainly not covered in the curriculum in the 70s so my understanding and knowledge was very limited. All displays have sections in English and I must acknowledge that at times I was moved to tears. The museum was developed to educate younger generations. Unfortunately with all the conflicts currently in the world, one wonders what we have actually learned. I would certainly recommend a visit as what you see makes you reflect.

        A surprise at every turn!
This was a good experience. When you go to the lacquer shop. Make sure to go upstairs as well. 4 stops are completed. Unification palace, post office, war museum, and several stores.

        Take your tissues!
This was incredibly emotional. Take your time and read the plaque, they are well worth it telling the story of the American/Vietnamese War. Take your tissues! The agent orange and war crimes sections are particularly difficult

      Sorrow and tears.

Americans did not learn to better themselves after the atrocities against the indigenous of America and Mexico, the genetic programming to be this savage is still in their genetic makeup and written in the Declaration of Independence; history repeated in their savage nature, the White and Black American military.

But Vietnam is lucky to not have had the majority of their population whipped out; it was a war but not to take and occupy, Vietnam was lucky not have suffered the levels of atrocities as the indigenous peoples of America and Mexico.

Going to the museum is a very cheap experience and if you are ever in Ho Ci Minh, it’s something that is a must do. Warning to some people, that many things seen there will be disturbing and hard to see. The military equipment along with all the stories and stats are quite staggering. It really does make a person feel strong emotions about all the atrocities that happened during the war

Before I came, I was not sure about what this museum was all about. But it turned out to be one of the most instructive session where I learnt about the Vietnam war. This was, it could be said, the beginning (1954-75) phase of rising American imperialistic interventions round the world. Remarkably, the museum was opened soon after the American defeat. Of course, much of the suffering, pain and atrocities were slowly revealed over the years. I hope everyone, especially Americans, who saw these, would learn the right lessons from the past. My thoughts and prayers are with those who suffered because of the war.

Sobering experience. This is an important museum of events and circumstances which we need to not forget, and from which we need to learn. In some ways, reminiscent of the Holocaust Museum in DC. Should be part of everyone’s visit to HCM City

Although just a rating of 3 I would still say this is a must visit when visiting Saigon. There is plenty of information regarding the tragedy surrounding the war and sadly we should remember the circumstances that affecting the lives of so many. It is worth paying the fee for a headphone set so you don't have to read every information board. A cafe is on site and clean toilets.

As an Australian, this museum opened my eyes to what really happened during the Vietnam war. It was confronting, but important to see.
I highly recommend that anyone and everyone visit this museum.

In my opinion War Remnants Museum is a must see attraction while you're in Ho Chi Minh City ( aka Saigon). from the moment you enter the Museum complex, you see war machines of VietNam war era 1960s and early 1970s. The Museum is very well laid out and you can walk from floor to floor and see(read) the story of the war and suffering .The Museum is full of war ammunition, photos, movie footages etc. The visit is very absorbing and humbling.A must visit place.
There are 2 gift shops on ground floor.

I learnt so much about the Vietnam war not taught in text books. There are also amazing photos here. I also liked the arms and ammunition on display here.
The Audio tour with headphones is well worth it.

Great to know the Vietnamese perspective of the war.

A must visit for any history buff!

Visited with my wife and we found the museum very interesting. There are english information cards beside every exhibit and photo. You need to give yourself between 1 and 2 hours to view the museum fully. The pictures do not hide the horror of war and some children may find some pictures distressing.
