Small-Group Tour of Cu Chi Tunnels with Mekong Delta Cruise
US$69.00
Overview
See the highlights of the wider Hồ Chí Minh City on this small group tour. At the Củ Chi tunnels, your guides offer a Vietnamese perspective of the 'American War' that you might not otherwise experience. You’ll witness the preserved tunnels and survival tactics of the Viet Cong guerrilla fighters. Later, contrast two views of life in the Mekong Delta; see life up close in one of the area's many floating villages and then visit famers in the Delta tending to fruit orchards, coconut groves and apiaries.
What to Expect
In the morning you will depart from Ho Chi Minh City for the Cu Chi Tunnels, Cu Chi is now considered a historical district for its role in the American War in Vietnam. It is legendary for the tunnels system of over 135 miles (220 km) and is a popular attraction for locals and tourists from around the world.

Upon arrival in Cu Chi, you’ll be shown a documentary film about the tunnels and learn how the locals made bamboo traps, rice-paper and rice-wine. You’ll then have the opportunity to explore the tunnels dug by Vietnamese soldiers. You can spend your time inspecting the tunnel site, visiting the gates, traps, underground hospitals, workshops, kitchens and bunkers, as well as going through a section of the tunnel.

After exploring the tunnels, you enjoy a lunch with traditional Vietnamese Food and drive to My Tho. This is one of the provinces that comprise the Mekong Delta Area. We’ll cruise by boat along the upper Mekong through a region with islands named after four animals that appear in Buddhist Writings – Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix and Turtle. On this part of the tour you’ll observe some of the activities of regional Vietnamese daily life and find a new understanding of how life here depends on the River.

Then you will take a boat trip along the small waterways to see the agricultural richness of the delta region with fruit orchards, coconut groves and bee-keeping farms. Here you can enjoy honey tea, seasonal fruit, fresh coconut candy and Southern Vietnamese Folk Music.

Drive back to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City at approximately 8:00pm.

Strange Experience

Everything was as advertised on this tour (hotel pickups, transits, sights), but I left feeling very uncomfortable. The whole vibe at Cu Chi Tunnels is much less of a war memorial/historical site as it is a theme park advertising the ingenuity of the Vietcong. Still...More

They pick you up at the hotel. They provide complementary bottled water, wet wipes. And we had free wifi on board.
