Overview
Exploring the Mekong Delta for a day from Ho Chi Minh may mean missing some aspects of this rural river region. This 2-day tour offers a deeper dive into its local life and scenery, including the early-morning Cai Rang floating market—something most day trips can’t do. Plus, you’ll cruise down canals, discover workshops and island villages, enjoy two lunches, and stay in a comfortable 3-star hotel with breakfast.
What to Expect
From your Ho Chi Minh hotel, ride a climate-controlled vehicle to My Tho. Board a motorized riverboat for trips around the Delta’s maze of lush islands and villages.

Visit a local island home and call at a coconut candy workshop to see how villagers make the sweet treats, which you can sample. After rowing a sampan along palm-fringed canals and lunch at a local home, listen to a traditional music performance and taste exotic local fruits at Unicorn Island.

Then, have dinner (own expense) at Can Tho before your overnight hotel stay.

On the second day, visit Cai Rang floating market, the Delta’s biggest, at its busiest time—just after dawn. View and learn how the vendor boats selling fresh fruit and vegetables trade their goods.

Savor lunch at a local restaurant before riding back to Ho Chi Minh. Stop at Vinh Trang Pagoda en route to your hotel.

Loved the Mekong Delta trip and seeing the floating markets and really amazed thats how people get their livelihood.

The Mekong Delta is worth the trip a bit touristy but still worth the visit. East meets west is obvious, but you can still see how the local people survive by working on the river and selling their products.

The guide does recommend really good options, including dining. We went for a walk along the river and there were a lot of families and couples enjoying the evening as well. Night market, lovely cafes and restaurants.
