An escape from the hustle of Bangkok
We went on 2 tours with Jill in January, both were excellent. We did the canals tour, which took you outside Bangkok and on the quiet waterways by a variety of boats and public transport, a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, it is actually longer than the billed half day, so is good value for money. We also visited Ayutthaya and bang pa in on a second day, a great way to see the ancient capital and it's ruins. Jill was an excellent and informative guide, thank you

This is a really good tour!
This was one of the very best tours that we did having spent nearly 3 weeks in Asia. First thing after breakfast 3 of us were met at our hotel on Sukhumvit 15 by Jill our guide. We then spent until late in to the afternoon doing a fascinating tour of the canal system around Bangkok. We travelled on 3 types of boats and really saw rural life well away from the masses of tourists. Jill took us to a local market where we got to sample various sweet snacks before we got to ride in motorised boats along the Khlong which was terrific fun. A delicious Thai lunch was taken on the river at a local restaurant where we got to meet the delightful owners and some other equally nice Thai guests. We also got to see some amazing buildings and learn their history so we rated this tour as really good value. Jill deserves a special mention, she was a wonderful guide who really knew her history of the places we visited. She took photos of us and offered advice on pretty much anything we wanted to ask relating to our holiday. A great ambassador for her company and a delightful person to spend the day with.

          Must do tour.
We got lucky having Lucky as our tour guide. She is very knowledgeable, easy going and really took care of us. It was awesome seeing and walking around with all the monkeys at Monkey temple. Ayutthata is a must see. Great tour.

Amazing Asia Tours - Bridge over River Kwai recommendation
Amazing Asia tours recommendation My husband and I booked a private tour with Amazing Asia tours. https:// www.amazingasiatours.com/ thailand/central-thailand/ bangkok/erawan-waterfalls-and-bridge-over-the-river-kwai An emotive, moving, enthralling journey through a dark time for South East Asia. We were fortunate to have Ken as our guide who conveyed the stories and the suffering of so many with dignity, compassion and a historical knowledge of the time and events. A poignant and educational experience. Would recommend Amazing Asia Tours - and ask for Ken if you can.

Highlight of our Visit to Bangkok – Kwai Bridge and Hellfire Pass
As a military history enthusiast, visiting the Bridge on the River Kwai and the Death Railway has always been on my bucket list. Honestly, I never thought I’d have the chance to see it in person. So, during our visit to Bangkok, booking the Bridge over the River Kwai and Hellfire Pass with Train Ride Tour was one of the first things we did. Our decision to go with this operator was largely influenced by glowing reviews on TripAdvisor. Another key reason was the inclusion of Hellfire Pass in the itinerary – a site that should not be missed if you’ve come this far. Along with the new Hellfire Pass Interpretive Centre, funded by the Australian government, it’s a deeply impactful experience and beautifully presented given the somber history. The tour operator promised to pick us up at our mid-town Bangkok hotel at 7:00 am. We were ready and waiting outside just before the appointed time when our guide (Tonya – apologies for not knowing the correct spelling) arrived. She greeted us warmly, confirmed our details, and ushered us into a spacious, air-conditioned van. As it turned out, we were the only couple who booked the tour that day, making the experience feel like a private excursion with our own guide and driver. It was a genuine privilege. During the journey, Tonya shared fascinating insights about local customs, traditions, and culture. She was more than happy to answer our many questions about everything from schools and food to social norms. Meanwhile, our driver kept his focus on the road, ensuring a safe and comfortable ride. Kudos to him for his professionalism! Our first stop was the JEATH Museum, which features a replica of the prisoner enclosures used during the railway’s construction. The museum also includes maps and detailed accounts of the railway’s history. Next, we visited the beautifully maintained Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, the final resting place for many young POWs who perished during the railway’s construction. Standing there amidst the rows of graves was a truly solemn and moving moment. Then came the highlight: the iconic bridge and a train ride along the Death Railway. The natural beauty of the area took us by surprise; the scenery was absolutely stunning. The bridge itself is fascinating, especially when you learn about the prisoners’ harrowing construction efforts. The center spans, built with flat-top box trusses, contrast with the curved-top trusses of the remaining bridge. This difference is due to Allied bombing during the war, which destroyed the bridge’s center. It was rebuilt after the war, preserving its historical significance. The train ride, covering approximately 20 miles, was delightful. We enjoyed scenic views of local farms, including fields of tapioca, a popular crop in the region. The train was packed with tourists, adding to the lively atmosphere. Our next destination was Hellfire Pass and the excellent museum built by the Australian government. The museum offers a deeper understanding of the construction methods, hardships, and tragic deaths endured by the prisoners. A short walk down the steps leads to the old railway bed and Hellfire Pass itself. Walking through the pass was a deeply emotional experience; you could almost feel the presence of those who suffered there. It’s a must-visit site and a stark reminder of why this entire project is considered a war crime by the Empire of Japan. On our way back, we made a quick stop at a nearby waterfall for some photos before returning to our hotel. While the day was long, it was worth every moment. The tour was impeccably organized and delivered a rich and meaningful experience. Highly recommended!

          Hellfire & Kwai tour
Fantastic, very emotional tour, the guide Kent and driver Sake were excellent. The information supplied by Kent throughout the tour was fascinating & informative. Kent knows where to be at the right time for photo opportunities. Lunch was good. I would highly recommend booking a private tour with this company, you will not be disappointed it is like being shown around by a local friend.

          Great Experience 🇵🇭🇬🇧
Had an amazing day with our tour guide Ken & driver Ywon, we couldn't wish for a better service. Ken speaks very good english and he is very informative with his outstanding knowledge & understanding about the history. We felt very safe with Ywon’s driving as he is not an aggressive driver. The car was clean and comfortable too. Both are very polite, punctual & very accommodating. We would Highly recommend to look for them both when booking the tour.

          Waste of money and time
The worst tour we’ve ever been on. Our tour guide clearly didn’t care whether we were enjoying ourselves. Her vocabulary seemed to consist of no more than 100 words, which she repeated for hours on end. To make matters worse, she wore a face mask that covered her face from below the eyes to under her chin, and large sunglasses that made the entire experience feel bizarre. She was completely incapable of walking and talking at the same time. We frequently stopped in the middle of nowhere to listen to the same 100 words, often standing in +40°C heat with no shade. She made no effort to find shade or to walk and talk simultaneously, which made the tour physically exhausting. The experience was boring, non-educational, and frustratingly slow. It’s taken me more than six months to process this and write a review, but I can confidently say this was the worst tour my spouse and I’ve ever attended.

Thank you, Kanthad, for a wonderful day.
Our tour guide, Kanthad, made our experience visiting these significant sites more memorable, thanks to his depth of historical knowledge and excellent English. He was also punctual and flexible in considering our interests in each of the sites visited.

          really great private tour
I went on this tour with my husband in November, and I highly recommend it. We were picked up from our hotel in the morning-- our guide, Lucky, was waiting in the lobby. We had a big van to ourselves, so the journey out to Ayutthaya was very comfortable. Lucky was a really great guide. I highly recommend her. She spoke English really well and was very knowledgeable about all the sites we visited. She also gave us a lot of insight into Thai society, culture, history, and spoke in depth with us on many topics that interested us, beyond just the attractions we were seeing. We really felt like we learned so much about Thailand from her. Lucky would also identify good photo spots and take pictures for us, which I really appreciated. Our driver (unfortunately, I don't remember his name), was super friendly and an excellent driver. He was always quick to rush out to open the door for us and always had ice cold bottles of water ready for us when we got back into the van. As for the attractions themselves, we went to every place listed on the tour, and felt like we had an adequate amount of time to enjoy it all. The tour included a lunch and we were able to choose whatever we wanted on the menu offered. We thought the food was quite good. Definitely a worthwhile day trip from Bangkok, especially if you are interested in ruins, and if you have a day to spare. I would totally choose the private tour again!

Ayutthaya - Must See in Thailand
Such a beautiful and nice place. Good for soul-searching and be at peace. I visited this place in March of 2024 with my IMG Community. I took beautiful photos and one of Thailand's must see scenic spots. I will surely visit again and will recommend this place to friends and families visiting Thailand.

          A great tee off!
We turned up to the course a little sceptical as we couldn’t book anything via the website. On arrival we were kindly greeted and escorted to the main desk where we were able to get onto the course straight away! We hired clubs and were caddied by Kai and Ni. This was a fantastic experience and a spectacular course made even better by the best caddies we could have asked for! Amazing views around the course, Would highly recommend this to any keen golfer visiting Koh Samui!

I am incredibly grateful I came across this when planning my trip to Thailand. This is an amazing sanctuary with amazing Elephants and staff. I love Elephants and it was incredible to get to meet them, feed them snacks, a meal, bath them with mud and scrub them in the river, and just love up on them. The staff is incredible, very knowledgeable, and you can tell that they love these gentle giants. Please help support this amazing place by visiting and placing donations. Majority of the elephants are free to roam wherever they please. There are only a few that are restricted for their own safety (one is completely blind) or the safety of the other elephants. This place is extremely humane and a wonderful place for these amazing gentle giants.

        Other items to note:
They do have lockers with locks onsite that you can keep your change of clothes and other belongings in while onsite. They also give you a bottle of water in a nice carrier bag to take with you around the property and as a nice little souvenir. The transportation to/from Bangkok was ontime, very comfortable, and safe - it actually surprised us that we were the only ones in the van, but maybe that is because we went on a weekday?

Another great thing the staff does is divide the people up into smaller groups so that you are able to experience each thing and spend time with the Elephants. They also rotate which activity each group is doing so that you are not stepping over each others toes or "fighting" for time in the activity. The group leaders and mahouts were really great!!
The lunch was also more than I expected. It was very nice buffet lunch with lots of options. There is a great outdoor seating area in the shade to sit and eat.
The showers (for after a fun time mud washing and river bathing with the elephants) have some soap and shampoo for guests to use. They also provide a fresh clean towel to use as well. I recommend a sturdy tech style sandal that you can use to wear throughout property, and in the shower (or bring flip flops to change to). To blend in with the local staff, you could opt for flips flops for the entire day ;).

As a side note, I did find out that the gift shop onsite is not tied to Elephants World so if you want to ensure 100% of the money you spend goes to Elephants World, consider making a donation. At the time they also had silicon wristbands for a recommended minimum donation of 100 baht. I do wish I would have brought more cash baht with me to make a larger donation.

If you are interested in spending more than 1 day, there are cabins available for overnight stays. If I go back to Thailand, I would definitely plan at least one night stay if not multiple onsite to spend extra time with the elephants.

Absolutely brilliant, started with amazing tour company who didn’t mind that we forgot our wallet. We were concerned about the non ethical companies out there, but this is the real deal. When you feed them you really got to bond, ours was Januree, she was gentle and smart, let us cuddle her. Bathing her and the other elephants was exciting and fun, I laughed the whole time. Food was superb, and the staff so friendly and accommodating. What can I say- Thai people stole my heart, we will always come back to Thailand, so safe and trusting, Buddhism really is a superior way of life.

Incredible experience. Being able to interact with the elephants in an ethical manner was INCREDIBLE. Highly recommend staying overnight. The accommodations were excellent as was the food. Activities on 2nd day were better than the 1st. Only negative I can think of was floating down the river was to short but that depends on the flow of the river. Absolute must if you want to see elephants in an ethical way.

Our trip to Elephant World was absolutely amazing. I was looking forward to this day and it exceeded my expectations. The facilities are great and have lockers, clean bathroom and showers and provide a towel.
The staff treat the elephants so well and are so informative. Our guide, Niti, was so fun and friendly. Touching the elephants, feeding them and bathing them was a dream come true. I would definitely comeback and stay overnight.

We just wrapped our day at Elephant World, and I had to write this review. EW, is you are concerned, is a beautiful, ethical, environmentally responsible sanctuary. I did much research to be sure we didn’t visit anywhere that would exploit the animals. We could not have been more impressed. Our day began early with private pick up at our hotel. The driver was polite, but must not have known English because he didn’t speak to us the entire 2.5 hour drive. We were the first guests to arrive for the day. We were greeted by our group leader, Gogo, who might be the friendliest and most energetic young man I’ve ever met. Once everyone arrived we were given a locker to store our personal items, and were divided into groups to set out on our day. Over the course of the day, we prepared food for the elephants, fed them, walked among them and loved on them. We were then treated to a delicious traditional Thai lunch. After lunch, we joined the elephants for a mud bath (prepare to get dirty!!) then walked them into the river to swim with them and bathe them. It was truly a remarkable experience. At the end of the day, everyone was given a clean towel, we showered on site, and changed into our clean clothes.
A few things to remember: bring sunscreen, a hat, bug spray, clothes for getting dirty/swimming, and a change of clothes.
Also, they have a precious little gift shop that only accepts Bhat, so bring money with you!

We have swam with dolphins and thought that was incredible. The experience we had with the elephants at Elephants World was one of the most special experiences we have had. We had no idea what this sanctuary was really going to be about. We got there and saw some elephants. Then our guide brought us to cut some grass with hatchets. We put our grass in the back of a pickup and walked a short way to a field full of elephants. We fed them, pet them, and took loads of pictures. We thought that was amazing. We got to feed a 68 year old elephant who no longer has teeth. We mixed up a soft mixture and fed her balls of it. But the day got better! This may sound strange, but we got into a huge mud puddle. We slathered the elephants with mud. Sounds crazy, but was so much fun. Then the elephant got up and walked over to the river. We followed her and she went into the river and so did we. We washed her off with buckets and brushes. She sprayed us with water, rolled over, and lay in the water. We were right there. It was a moving experience. After that we went and fed the baby elephants. If you are an animal lover and get a chance to go to Thailand, visit Elephants World. This is a sanctuary for elephants that have been mistreated, are old, or just need a safe place. The people there love these animals and you can really see it. elephantsworld.org

We visited during the dry season and as a result our group only consisted off about 7/8 people which meant we had a very personal experience.

The elephants were very well looked after.

In the morning, we had a brief safety talk and were able to feed the elephants. Our group was small enough that we had an elephant each to feed. We were also given a talk on the different foods they feed to the elephants.

We did have to do a little "work" which involved cleaning a few Yams. However, this was very short, we literally did a bucket full each which probably only took about 10 minutes.

We got to hang around with the elephants. The elephants were very tame and friendly and were happy for you to come and up and stroke them. Made for some great photos.
We were also able to feed the two baby elephants (a girl at 8 months and a boy at 12 months). This was a beautiful experience. Due to the age of the girl, we had to peel the bananas before feeding her.

There was also the older elephant to feed where we had to make grass balls for her.

Finally we bathed the elephants in the mud bath and got to swim with them too. There was also the chance to swim int he water with piers to jump off and a swing. Throughout the experience, the elephants were given free reign to leave the water when they pleased. We visited another elephant camp and the elephants were shouted at and threatened with sticks. However, at Elephant World the elephants were treated with respect and didn't do anything they didn't want to. There was always guides around so you did feel safe.

The facilities were also really good. Nice clean shower (with towels provided) and the lunch was a good buffet.

If you want to see elephants then this is the most ethical way we experienced in Thailand and will be an experience you will not forget.

Kanchanaburi Elephant World is one of the best experiences we had in Bangkok.

We were able to feed, play, and bathe the elephants in a safe and nurturing environment.

The entrance fees collected pays for the employees and at the same time for the well-being of the elephants.

I love animals, but refuse to support cruel abusive treatment. Thankfully this place exists and was so fun and educational. I can’t say enough good things about this company. The experience was fabulous. A little pricey but so worth it and I know I am supporting good people.

My daughter researched this tour stressing how much she wanted to do it, and I'm so glad she did! We had an amazing day amongst the elephants feeding and bathing them. Our smiles stayed with us all day and we left with beautiful memories. Thanks for a fantastic day, one we will never forget. Everyone looking at our photos commented on how happy we look - a true indication of a great day.
