Taroko Gorge Full-Day Tour from Taipei
Admire the awe-inspiring natural beauty of Taroko Gorge, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Asia, on this 13-hour tour from Taipei. There will be a guide to drop you off at the train station to let you hop on a train bound for Haulien; enjoy the scenic ride and learning about your destination on the way. Arrive at this top attraction and start exploring its sheer marble cliffs, winding tunnels and the vein of the Liwu River flowing through the gorge. Stop at a traditional Taiwanese restaurant for a lunch of typical local fare before heading to Chi-Hsing Beach and the Hualien Stone Sculpture Park. Lunch and round-trip transportation from Taipei hotels are included.
What to Expect
Meet your guide in the lobby of your hotel at 6 am, and then transfer to the Taipei railway station. You will board an express train bound for Haulien on your own. During the approximately 2.5-hour journey, watch the scenery pass by.

Upon arrival in Hualien, board a comfortable, air-conditioned coach for the trip through the Taroko Gorge in Taroko National Park, named one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Asia. Set out on the 12.5-mile (20-km) section of highway that runs from Taroko to Tiansiang, winding through the steep marble cliffs and tunnels of the gorge.

As you ride, admire views of the Liwu River, which cut through the marble to form the deep, narrow gorge over millions of years. In all, the coach trip will travel through an impressive 38 separate tunnels, ending up at the Eternal Spring Shine. Here, small temples have been built to honor those Taiwanese veterans who lost their lives in the construction of the tunnels.

After passing through the gorge, stop for lunch at a local restaurant serving typical local fare. Before returning to Taipei by express train, make stops at the Hualien Stone Sculpture Park, Chi-Hsing Beach and a local marble factory.

Your 13-hour adventure in Taroko National Park and the surrounds ends with drop-off at your hotel in Taipei.

On time pickup from hotel. Tour Guide Roy was great. Lunch was at a 5 star hotel, and it was so yummy. All day tour and a lot of places. Well worth the price.

Get there yourself if you can, not worth the price of the tour

While my husband I enjoyed the scenery at the gorge, several aspects of the tour need a lot of improvement: (1) the tour guide who met a van-load of us up and boarded us on the train never once introduced himself, made snide comments about...More
