Having never hiked before or visited Nepal, I was unsure which trekking company to enlist for my adventure. When researching which company to use, I was at first sceptical of the overwhelmingly positive reviews Ace had received from their previous guests. Now that I have completed my trek up Mt. Everest with Ace, I can confirm that all these reviews do not even begin to do this company justice!

Ace places their guests’ experiences and safety at the very heart of their business. From the minute you land in Kathmandu, to when they drop you off at the departures lounge, Ace is there to look after your ever need (24/7) and ensure you’re having the best time possible! It is a very slick operation they have built; their communication / response time from the very first day of booking has been exceptional.

The 14 day trek up Mt. Everest is a once in a lifetime trip. It is a very challenging exercise, however with our guide Milan by our side 24/7, constantly providing us with support, banter and assurance, the entire group was able to reach Base Camp.

Milan is hands down the best guide Ace has, and I highly recommend requesting Milan in advance for when making your booking. His language abilities and very caring nature put our entire group at ease from day one, and we have left as lifelong friends. He is extremely knowledgeable of the terrain and I never once felt uncomfortable in my surroundings. Milan goes over and above to pass on his extensive knowledge of the rich history of this amazing country.

Finally, two of the greatest assets that Ace had to offer is their stance on coping with Altitude Sickness, and their vast network within the Nepali tourism industry. Milan ensured from day one we had the correct amount of water at all times, moved at a pace which was comfortable for everyone in the group, and ate the appropriate food to help our recovery. Ace has been operating for over a decade, and has worked to secure the first flights in/out of Lukla (very important) and the “best” rooms in the tea houses.

I hope this review helps you to decide that Ace is the trekking company for you…. And if it does, I hope you chose Milan to take you up Mt. Everest, you won’t regret it!

Rebooked my trip mutiple times because of covid and finally made it to Nepal in mid-may. Sujan was very responsive and helpful in getting everything set up, we must have exchanged dozens of emails. My guide (Dipak) and porter (Yam) were awesome throughout the entire trek. Open to (very) early starts to the day meant maximizing the good weather windows for the views. Being on the trail during the shoulder season with smaller crowds (and a group of one) meant the perfect experience for me. Because of this overwhelmingly positive experience, I also booked a rafting trip through them after my trek was over.

When I was a kid I received a book on the visual atlas of the world as a gift and it gave me the inspiration to see the world. Fast forward twenty years and I feel extremely fortunate to have been able to visit many diverse parts of the world, but what I can confidently say is that the Khumbu region is one of the top three places I have visited so far in my life. The Himalayas, and specifically Nepal, have been at the top of my list of places to visit for years and trekking to Everest not only exceeded my already lofty expectations but belongs in its own league of travel experiences.

As far as organizing the trek, Ace the Himalaya did an amazing job at accommodating me at the last minute because I only confirmed my plans to trek two days before my flight to Lukla. Due to the pandemic and the dramatically lower tourist numbers as a result, it was possible to do this but once tourist numbers start to normalize again, I would highly recommend advanced planning for a trek. My guide was Raj (Rajkumar), and he is a great guide who is very knowledgable with the Khumbu region. Every question I had about culture or a specific mountain he seemed to have an in-depth answer. On the acclimatization hike from Dingboche, Raj also chose to carry my backpack, which I really appreciated because I was feeling the effects of altitude that day. My porter (I'm not sure how to spell his name) was also great. Without his help, I wouldn't have been able to complete this trek. Two other notable people I met are Sajiya and Lokesh. Sajiya is a cool girl who manages operations at the office and seems to have a lot of pride in her country. She spoke great English and I enjoyed our conversations the couple times we met. Last but not least, Lokesh was the person I was communicating by email with prior to going to Nepal and he answered many of my questions that helped ease some of the uncertainty I felt about the trek.

Just a few last things I want to note about the trek. I personally started to feel the effects of altitude at Dingboche (4,350m/14,270 ft) and I noticed a lot of other people did as well. The days in Dingboche, Lobuche, and Gorak Shep made me feel a little discomfort but the effects of altitude generally felt mild. Teahouse accommodation is basic but it's manageable. Food quality and choices seemed constant throughout the trek. Overall, I would definitely come back to Nepal and do a tour with Ace the Himalaya again. There are so many companies to choose from, but I think what makes Ace the Himalaya stand out is their online presence that shows a proven track record of people who have had great experiences in the Himalayas. That is what caught my attention before traveling to Nepal, and now I can personally say that Ace the Himalaya is the easy choice when it comes to trekking in Nepal. If you want to see the Himalayas then I would recommend just doing the mountain flight or Everest helicopter tour. But if you want to experience the Himalayas and the culture of the Tibetan and Sherpa people while being in the shadows of several of the world's highest mountains, then trekking to Everest may be one of the best things you can do in life.

Dear Stephen, Thank you very much for taking some time to write this detailed review. The title of your review itself is very encouraging. We are very glad to know how beautiful time you had in Nepal trek. The way you have shared your experiences on the trek especially focusing Khumbu Region is absolutely phenomenal. Everest Region is definitely not an easy trek and the way you have elaborated your experiences could be really helpful to all the traveler/ trekkers from the world especially who are planning to trip to Nepal. So we are extremely thankful for this. Lastly we agree on how you have also acknowledged on our team members. Your guide Rajkumar, your porter, Sajiya and Lokesh from our operations indeed are the hardworking team who tried their best to contribute from all the aspects in order to make our client’s trip successful. They would be very happy to get this appreciation. We really hope to see you again in the future. Stay Safe!

I recently completed the 14-day Everest base camp hike with Ace. This company is detail-oriented and took good care of our group of 14 people. Our head guide Milan is always resourceful, and made sure we were able to fly out fast and safely when faced with changing weather conditions. The assistant guide Rupus is pleasant to be with and added laughter the the strenuous hikes. My porter Lochan handled my bag with care, always adding rain-cover to make sure everything stays dry inside. Highly recommend Ace for your next Nepal trip.

After a failed attempt to Base Camp in December 2018, I returned for a 2nd attempt in September 2019.
I was very fortunate to have the same two guides again for the summer trek, the lead guide Dipak Dahal was simply amazing his dedication to ensure my return trek was a success was second to non, he worked closely with me to ensure I manage certain aspects of my trek to ensure I completed it safely and successfully, it is with that I thank him so much for making my second attempt to Base Camp as enjoyable and safe it was greatly appreciated.
Our 2nd guide Amin also on my first attempt is learning the ropes and provides trekkers and the Ace the Himalayas staff where just as good with great communication from the time I booked onto the trek right through to arrival and departure.

I opted for the food package and sleeping bag and jacket hire this was a great idea this trip, it avoided awkward situations around baggage allowances with airlines, the equipment was very clean and very new and very adequate for the trip. The food package was excellent with ample quality food and value for money.

The return trek was such a great experience and to finally make Base Camp with a great group of people and guides was amazing I would recommend this trek to anyone wishing to challenge themselves though I would put some thoughts into what time you travel, having done a winter and a late summer trek I would favour the late summer trek with temperatures being between 14 and -2 compared to 7 through to -35 degrees
But the two extremes are well worth seeing and again could not recommend Ace the Himalaya trekking company any higher their level of professionalism from the highly qualified guides through to the office staff was next level and again a special mention to Dipak Dahal and Armin Karki for their amazing efforts throughout the trek.

My partner and I have just returned from the 14 day EBC trip and we could not rate this company and the trip more highly!

Prior to booking and whenever we had any queries before leaving the email correspondence we had with Ace was responded to quickly and efficiently, with all the helpful information - we were reassured before we even left the U.K. The company is owned by Prem who used to be a porter himself and it really shows that the company ethos is to look after their staff, including guides and porters.

Our guide was Madan and our porter was Sauman, who were both exceptional and went above and beyond throughout our trip. Madan’s bubbly personality and positive outlook was a joy to be around, especially when the steps got harder nearing EBC and Kalapattar. Madan got the balance right between checking we were ok with the speed of hiking/ altitude effects etc and keeping us moving at the right pace. I felt safe and reassured the whole way - it’s clear Madan is very experienced with the mountains and from taking his advice on everything from which food to eat, when to rest, what to pack in our day bags, we were able to successfully summit Kalapattar and reach EBC on the same day and on schedule. Sauman was much more than a porter and, along with Madan, looked after us in the tea houses always ensuring we had enough food/ water/ warmth! Sauman was so quick too and our bags were in our rooms with our key presented to us as soon as we walked in the door at every destination!

I would 100% recommend this company and if/when we visit Nepal again, would use Ace for any other treks too.

Everest Panorama Trekking (18 days)
We enjoyed a fantastic and impressive trekking tour - many thanks to Pasang Dawa Sherpa (guide) and Pradip Magar (porter). Pasang, with his many years of extensive experience, guided us safely and reliably from lodge to lodge, over passes, to summits and to base camps. He was communicative, humorous and always attentive - we wanted for nothing. And last but not least, our luggage was in the best hands with Birdip. We were a great team and I am looking forward to our next trekking tour together.

My recent EBC trek and experience with Ace was so good that we changed our plans in order to use them for another trek of Manaslu.
Their staff have excellent attention to detail in all aspects of the trip. Sajiya conducted all the scheduling and email communications for the trip. She was friendly, accommodating, and easy to understand.
Upon meeting our trekking guide, Madan, there was an instant comraderie. We shared so many laughs along the trek and he was quite informative and so attentive to our needs, especially when a member of our group fell ill due to altitude.
Our secondary guide and porter, Saman, was equally friendly and caring. He always greeted us with a smile and immediately attended to our requests. Additionally, our porters, Kushal & Sher, had boyish charm and shleped our bags up and down so many mountains without complaint. We never had any doubt that our belongings were secure with them and our bags were always in front of our rooms when we arrived to the teahouses.
The entire team at Ace can be trusted to plan, lead, and execute all details of your trek with accuracy and care.

In April we spent a fantastic 2 weeks in Nepal on the Ace The Himalayas 14 day Everest Base Camp Trek. Having booked the trip over 2 years ago, which was disrupted by covid. Ace have been fantastic with the booking and communication and helping to move the dates due to covid 19 - Sujan in the Ace office was always on hand to answer any questions we had. Sujan organised all the paperwork for trekking and made sure that we had no issues whatsoever at the airport.

When we arrived in Kathmandu we met with our guide Dipesh, who was professional, friendly and lots of fun throughout the trip. He was great at tailoring the trip whenever we wanted to make a change. He listened to our needs and adjusted the plans with ease and without stress.

We had 2 porters on our trip, Don and Dilip, both which worked really hard carrying all our bags up and down the mountain. Dilip in particular was outstanding and couldn’t do enough to help us, he went above and beyond his role as a role as a porter. I would highly recommend requesting Dilip for your trip to the Himalayas. He would make a fantastic guide in the coming years.

The accommodation was reasonable in the mountains (as good as there was up there). Don’t expect luxury as you go to the top - the toilets and showers are poor over 4500m (but this has to be expected).

Overall, it was an absolutely fantastic trip and highly recommend going with Ace.

Trekking to Everest Base Camp with Ace The Himalaya was an experience of a lifetime. Every single aspect of the journey was managed to perfection. Upon arrival at the airport, our guide was waiting to pick us up. He took us to our hotel, got us settled, and informed us of our next steps. Before starting our trek, we met with the Operations Manager of Ace to discuss in detail the trek and what we should expect. She was extremely thorough and left us with every question we had answered. The trek itself was incredible. Our guide, Raj, and porter, Sauman, were the best. They were funny, knowledgeable, and were an absolute pleasure to trek with. They made sure we had everything was just right and went above and beyond to make sure our every need was met. If you get the pleasure to trek with Raj and Sauman you will have one of the best experiences of your life. After the trek was completed we had a post-meeting with the Operations Manager to discuss how the trek went. Ace even helped us set up transportation to and from the hospital to get a PCR COVID test needed to depart for our home country 5 days AFTER our trek was completed. I highly highly recommend Ace The Himalaya if you want a trek to Everest Base Camp that will leave you with an experience that was better than you could have ever imagined.
