- MarigoldToronto00Excellent guide for self drive!Excellent guide as you self drive to the canyon. The app allows you to stop more often than a structured tour and keeps you posted on time. Narrator was fantastic giving history as you drive with lots of humour- would definitely use again!
- Edith H00Narrator’s voice was grating; info provided was moderately usefulThe guide provided some useful information, but wasn’t anything special. The hyper enthusiasm of the AI narrator was extremely annoying and we turned off the guide before we got through the park. Save your money.
- K530SRchristinec00Great Hawaii AdventuresLoved these!!! We bought the 5 pack for the big island of Hawaii and used three as we had already driven two of the areas without the audio--sure wish I had ordered and downloaded earlier so we could have had the commentary for those as well. Really worth it!!
- P2969XFlisac00This helped us be efficient and see EVERYTHING!This was a fantastic way to see the sites, get lots of background knowledge, know where the bathroom stops are and all the "extras" such as recommended hikes, spots to eat, etc.
- hellomoto8800Highly recommendThis last minute purchace was so worth it. It knows where you are and starts the tour accordingly. Lots of great information that we would not have known about otherwise. We used it for 5 straight days. It is able to guide you depending on how much time you have available for various stopping points.
- MonteandBobbi00Great way to experience Mt Lemmon! The trip up and down was great using this app and tour. We learned a ton of stuff, got tips for the stops, and kept everyone interested up and down. I liked that we could pause the tour whenever we wanted and it would pick back up wherever we were. Only issue we had was stopping at some view points that were on the opposite side of the road that seemed a bit careless on s shaped winding roads.
- breathedeeply1800Great, affordable, interesting tour!We rented a camper and downloaded the driving tours to explore Kauai. We were highly impressed at the quality and depth of the narrative, the bridge music, and suggestions offered. We had a few issues getting started with the download but found live, courteous help easily though the app. It was overall easy to use and enhanced our short driving trip greatly. We learned so much about the history, geography and sites to see from this driving tour. Highly recommended.
- 660bradleyj00Fantastic Tour of SaguaroIncredible tour of Saguaro National Park, my wife and I absolutely loved it. Certainly worth every penny for a great experience!
- CactusPatch00Shaka Guide gives you the tour Plus!We have been touring around taking self guided GPS driven driving and walking tours. We have have noticed is the Shaka Guide tours give you a lot. For instance, the local Sedona Arizona self guided tours have the highlights, Village of OakCreek thru Sedona, maybe Red Rock Loop, thru Oak Creek Canyon and to the Lookout. Shaka has all that plus Jerome! The tour could easily be two or three days with all the stops and walks one can do. The technology is a huge factor. We have been on some well meaning but not well support walking tours and you can tell the technology and support is lacking. However Shaka tech works just a you would expect. Finally, I find Shakas content to be a little more zippy. Some of the other tours sort of old guidebookish. Meaning the solid basics. Shaka ads zip including ideas on where and what to eat. The specifics help give an idea of where you are and what to be on the look out for. Love Shaka Guide!
- G9486AQdavids00Awesome Guide!Absolutely fantastic guide. A brilliant guide for independent travellers and a must use if you are curious and want to learn! We have travelled to over 100 countries and it would have been fantastic to have had this earlier in our travelling holidays.
- kiepou00great self tour optionwe have used Shaka Audio guide twice in Hawaii. one in Maui for five tours and once in Kauai for three tours. easy to download and play from car radio. guides voice and commands are easy to listen to and you can stop and start at your leisure
- Sevo214700Use Apple Maps Don’t bother Shaka was a Shocker. The Gide starts by directing you to the starting point via maps then doesn’t recognise you are at the starting point. When you try to join the tour it fails to recognise this. When we finally got it working it instructed a dangerous turn ohh the freeway to a looked gate of a closed garden. Cost $29.99 US for an outdated useless guide that is in my opinion dangerous to use. Plan your own trip and use Apple Maps adding stops along the way. Very disappointing.
- 210DonnaS00A great help after the initial frustrationI found the app a bit frustrating in the beginning because I had purchased the app months ahead of my planned vacation to Hawaii so I had time to familiarize myself; however upon arrival unto the island of Oahu I couldn't get the app to work correctly. I had the phone number for the company with me so I called only to discover they were closed on Sunday. So I left a message on their emergency line for help but no one ever called me back until 2 days later. That was very frustrating! I needed immediate help while I was on the circle island tour and no one was available. I found out that I had to delete the app and upload it again in order to get it to work correctly since I had purchased it so far ahead. Even though I had done an update I still had to delete the app and upload again. Once I did that the app worked fine. So after the beginning frustration it worked great and I would recommend it. We did the circle island tour, the walking tour of Honolulu, the North shore tour and used it whenever we were driving around the island. The stories you hear along the way are fun and entertaining. The GPS navigation is great; especially when you aren't familiar with the area. And the Hawaiian music sets the mood for the day of your adventure.
- 310ambero00Couldn't listen to this tour. Narrator was terrible.I've used another guide app for past trips (Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Utah's Mighty 5, Canadian Rockies) and have always enjoyed it. I read the positive reviews of Shaka Guide, and I decided to give it a try for something a little different. Neither my husband nor I liked this tour at all. The narrator used a cheesy Hawaiian accent, similar to a 'surfer dude.' The stories were goofy, and the worst part was it was unclear when to turn off for a sight. After one day, I purchased the guide app I used for past trips. It's so much better.
- blythwood00Shaka audio tours- Easy, fun, informative, economical! What's not to like???!I would highly recommend using Shaka guides self driving audio tours. We used them for exploring the east and north shores of Oahu, and found it extremely user friendly, useful, informative and enjoyable. A great ( and economical) alternative to booking guided tours. I will definitely look for the Shaka guides for future destinations!

We had a $200 pp tour booked, when we found this app through a google search, we canceled our tour. We have a rental vehicle. I loved that we could pick and choose what we wanted to do. We did the 4 mile hike through Haleakala National Forest to see the 400 ft waterfall, rainbow eucalyptus trees, and a bamboo forest. We would have never been able to do that with a group tour! I highly, highly recommend! The stories and Hawaiian music was a tremendous plus for the day! We were able to start and stop when we want. Given info on local stops, a heads up to get tickets before our day for the Black Sand Beach. I could go on and on! Well worth the $20!!!

The reverse road to Hana tour is definitely the way to go! Navigation in app was awesome. Cool facts and stories shared. It is definitely an all day commitment even starting early. We were at starting point by 8:30 am and wrapped around 4:30. We only did about an hours worth of stopping.

I loved this app and well worth the 10$ download. I thought it would be excessively cheesy but it was a fun and very informative guide that helped so much along the way especially when there was no service in the mountains. The attention to the narrator’s guide was spot on and really helped never have been to Maui before. RECOMMEND Shaka Guide FOR DAYS!!! 🤙

If you are going on a car trip in the islands of Hawaii, be sure to find one the Shaka has an online driving plan. We had a blast going from Kula to Hana on the backside of the volcano, and then hiked the Pikiwai Trail to see the wonderful waterfalls. It’s 2 miles in and 2 miles out, so be prepared to do some climbing. I’m a 75 year old female, and my husband and I loved the hike. The road from there to Hana is a little difficult at times. Just take your time going around the curves that don’t have any guard rails, and honk before going around any blind turns. We had already done the other side of the Road to Hana last year, so we didn’t make any stops at the waterfalls. My perfect way of doing this trip would be to get to Hana from the backside, stay the night and then have a full day to explore the waterfalls on the front side. Hoe you have a wonderful time on the Road to Hana!

Shaka App showed us a bunch of great places we never would have found on our own, including swim holes and cliff dives. The stories were also neat to learn about. Recommend it!!

Driving the road to Hana now my 7th time There is nothing better than continuing around and arriving at the Winery makes ONE FULL DAY TRIP. The Road to Hana has so many stops and things to see it really takes at least 3 trips to see almost everything. The Waterfalls the caves the fruits and all the citrus. Pleasetry to stay a night in Hana Great rates for rentals and or camping. After seeing the & Pools (turn left) KEEP GOING drive around to the winery (Closes at 4pm) need to leave the Pools by 1:30. I suggest at least 2 trips and you will see about 80%. Look at good maps for your adventure.

The Shaka Guide was absolutely amazing and made our Road to Hana day perfect. The directions, sights and off the map stops were so much fun. The history of Hawaii and the music kept everyone engaged on a very long day. I can’t say enough about how awesome this app was. I would not make this trip without the Shaka Guide leading the way.

Great directions, easy to use, but our favorite part was the Hawaii stories! The guide explained the history and legends associated with the island and all the best stops!

It was in the App Store. I have iPhone. It’s a green app with the hand sign for hang loose and says Maui but called Shaka Guide when you search it.
