    Fantastic experience!
The guides were so nice and made us all feel comfortable. They explained the safety features and allowed for different experience levels. They spent time explaining the history of specific parts of the island and took time to get to know us a bit. They provided refreshments and took time to get us settled with the gear. The ride was so fun! The trails were awesome with fantastic views! Great for the family and those wanting to get some speed where the guides allowed for it. We would definitely do it again!

    Views and thrills!
My husband and I had an awesome experience doing the ATV tour! Our guide Brandon was knowledgeable and friendly- we made several stops to take photos and he shared some cool facts about the island. The scenery was unbelievable! On the way back we stopped and Brandon picked fresh passion fruit for us to try. 10/10 would recommend!

    Amazing ATV experience!
What an incredible excursion! The ATVs are easy to ride and so much fun! You go from the mountains to the ocean and the trail Is real 4 bying - fun and filthy. It is wayyy up in the mountains on a beautiful ranch. It's a worthwhile trek to get up there. You can go at your own pace and have several chances to go as fast as you want. Cancel any plans after cuz you'll be dirty head to toe. Teenagers aren't always easy to please and they LOVED it- great family adventure. Thank you to our guides Vicky and Brandon- you made our day!

Great Way to spend an afternoon on Maui
Had such a great time. The machine we drove was very nice, we felt very safe. I think we went up to about 1100 feet to a spectacular ocean view and then went down to the ocean. We were able to take lots of beautiful pictures. our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Be prepared to get dirty, that’s part of the fun.

    You Gotta Run!
I’d never ran a horse before, and WOW, it was thrilling! Our horses and guides took great care of us for the 2hrs tour, and we’re appreciative of their time and attention! My horse, Mana, knew the way to lead rest of the group, and took great care of the rider! We will be back!

    Get time with awesome guides.
I had an absolutely amazing experience. The guides were informative and friendly. They were super knowledgeable about their homeland which enables my friend and I to actually visit a beach to see sea turtles. The owner made sure that we were educated on how to operate our ATVs and make sure we were comfortable be we went on the trail. I highly suggest this activity if visiting Maui.

A great time to get dusty. Great experience
Was a great time. Rode around the mountain trails/ranch. Got to see some amazing views and have a lot of fun on the atvs. Would definitely go out again. The staff and guides were so great while leading us around.

    Mediocre
In order to give constructive criticism for the company’s benefit, I must say that the ride was advertised as 1.5 hours but there were two forced stops totalling 45 minutes where we sat around and waited doing nothing. Apparently we had to wait for the horses to clear the trail. When you pay for an advertised ride of 1.5 hours but you only actually drive 45 minutes that is false advertising. Also, there were large dust clouds constantly, and for anyone with sinus issues or that may be sensitive to dust that should’ve been mentioned upfront. The ride was enjoyable, but very basic. We’ve done ATVing in Colorado, which was very exhilarating compared to this, which was very mediocre. I would not recommend this company or give them repeat business.

    Exiting Dusty Adventure
All of it was great, the show you what to do and who to follow. You get to see some beautiful views and you can push the ATVs as fast as they can go in certain spots. Great experiences, but keep in mind there WILL be dust everywhere.

    Fun and rugged
Fun ride through some rough terrain and dust…great views when you stop. Guides were great and overall loved it. This tour was more about riding than sightseeing which was fine with us.

10 out of 10! Wonderful experience.
The staff was incredible and made the whole experience great! The scenery was BEAUTIFUL, some of the best views on the trip. The staff would also stop to tell you about the history and culture in the area. It was my first time on an ATV and they made me feel very comfortable. I picked it up quickly and had a great time. I 10/10 recommend and would do again if in the area!! Wonderful experience!

Great Ride and Amazing views of the island.
Great Ride and Amazing Views. Took this tour with my family and a friends family. Staff was extremely safe and went over all the instructions on how to ride and how to remain safe as well. My two daughters had never ridden before and they had a blast. Staff was also extremely friendly and polite. A definite "MUST DO" if in Maui.

I liked the views and experience but after doing a horseback riding experience in yellowstone and coming here I have a few tips to help the owner out for the non-regular horse riding folk. I‘m reasonably fit (20+ pullups) but with a 13 year old girl that’s 70lbs to give some perspective.

The initial jump on the saddle took a bit longer than I expected, which brings sunlight and heat for us mainlanders. Maybe there’s a way to speed that up. at yellowstone it probably took 10 minutes max to get a large group on the saddle with horses in a corral ready to go.

The horseback ride has a lot of hills. We figured there were hills on this but it’s definitely NOT switchbacks. This hike is straight up a dirt road with ruts that the horses definitely have to watch their footing on, which makes it a slower and more watchful/stressful experience for the animal and human. Then, you get to go DOWN the sameish trail. That’s cool the first couple hundred feet until it’s a job where you’re managing yours and the horses rear end.

If the trip stopped after the waterfall view part that would’ve been okay. But, we went up the hills to the waterfall view, down past the point where started to the main road, crossed the road, went to the coast, toon pictures, went back to where we parked, then went back up again and the horses were sweating and definitely angsty.

So what would I change?

Offer a half trip to either the beach or waterfall view or a casual experience with minimal hills
The up and down hills are tough for the animal and humans (our butts/back the next day!!). The slowness is okay but combined with up and down super steep slopes is simply a lot for novice riders.

Definitely writing this as supportive commentary since I know tourism is a tough business.

The views are definitely amazing, no doubt about that.

I am sorry that the ride was more difficult than you expected. There are many many reviews that talk about exactly what the trail ride is like. We do offer a shorter afternoon ride that does not go up the waterfalls where the trail is steeper, but just goes down to the ocean. There are many other rides on the island that are also shorter and on flat ground that would probably have been a ride you would have enjoyed a bit more. Hope you still had an amazing vacation.

It was great to have a woman in charge which made our experience better. She was very concerned with the safety of her clients and made her best efforts to match you with the right horse. She also provided cold refreshments which made a huge difference due to the hot weather. Her staff was amazing. They were very helpful and friendly throughout the tour. Over all a great experience I would recommend to anyone visiting for the first time.

So this is a great activity, but you might want a rental car with some serious ground clearance (like a jeep maybe?) to get up the "road" to the site parking area. There is a small space by the main road where they meet you with an ATV and you follow them (drive) back to a gated entrance road. A bit confusing, but look for the area with their sign and just pull off the road, wait and remember the concept of island time.

AFTER all that, the experience is great. People running this place are hard core animal lovers. At the main trailhead facility they have goats, sheep, a pot-bellied pig, a dog, a cat, chickens, peacocks. Its a real menagerie, but its like a mini petting zoo while you wait to be paired with a horse than matches your size and riding experience. And I'll say, that my horse was by FAR the best animal I have ever ridden on such a tour. Smart, mostly obedient, and very sure-footed.

The team made sure there were great pictures taken of everyone, and yes, there was an amazing waterfall view looking from the NorthEast back towards Iao Valley. This was ALOT of fun, and both my teenage kids loved it. Yes, there is red clay everywhere, so washable tennis shoes would be the right idea. Plan to drive back to the hotel barefoot, and bring a bag for your shoes.

By the way, the dude in the red shirt on the pale horse...true Paniolo and quiet the character. Definitely adds to the whole experience. Highly recommend!

If I could give this tour 10 stars I would. Tour guides Freddie and Selena were enthusiastic, knowledgeable and downright good company, also best Guava I’ve ever tasted straight from the tree! I’ve ridden horses before but all of those experiences were nothing compared to this. From amazing photos of my wife and I in front of waterfalls and all the way to the ocean there was nothing that could have been better. The cherry on top was when my horse Crab took off like the wind in the galloping area of the trail, almost outran the guide lol!

We recently visited Maui for the first time and decided to try a horseback ride. This wasn't our first ride, but we still consider ourselves to be beginners. The ranch hands took great care in matching us to the proper horse for our experience level and fitting us appropriately. The ride was a long one and involved a trip up the mountain (to see the waterfall from a distance) and back down the mountain to the beach level views.

You are provided with a small saddle bag and access to drinking water. The cowboy and cowgirl accompany you all of the way, and they are constantly checking on you and monitoring your horse. The mountain path is wide and well-cleared.

Things to consider: Parking and the drive up to the ranch is rough. You definitely need a rugged car or a jeep and not a sports car. There are two port-o-potties, so make sure you use the facilities before riding up the mountain. At a minimum, make sure you wear jeans and sunscreen along with a hat.

What I wish I had known: Dust, there is a lot of dust that you will ride through on a dry day. The horses in front of you will kick up the dust. If you are sensitive to allergies or prone to sinus infections, this could pose a problem as it did for me a few days after our ride.

The folks at Maui Mountain Adventures were terrific and friendly from start to finish. This is the nicest trail ride I've ever been on with surrounding beauty and amazing views. They took the time to match the horse to your ability and Freddie, in particular, spent a lot of time looking after my 11 year old son. He had a blast and even felt comfortable enough at the end to take the horse for a little gallop. They take the time to pose you and take pictures of you by the sea and by the waterfall. Would highly recommend!

My family of 5 had a great experience on the horseback tour. We ranged from never been on a horse to had lessons and everything in-between. We had a great range in ages as well. We were in a group of 10; everyone was fitted with helmets and horses. We were given a quick lesson on guiding our horses, though we were never without our two guides. Up to the mountains and down near the beach. The ride was over 2 hours and it was a tremendous experience. We learned much along the way. The guides took photos of whoever wanted to have them. Would recommend this to anyone who wants to see some beautiful scenery while engaging in a fun activity. There are also ATV rides at the site, and lots of farm animals.

Took teenage granddaughter on the 2-hour trail ride. We both really enjoyed it. The trail guides, two of them with a group of about 12 of us, were wonderful, patient and very clear about how we should be handling our individual horses and keeping us all together on the trail even giving some of the braver people a chance to run while the rest of us just walked. All in all a great adventure.

The “West Maui Horseback Waterfall and Ocean Tour” was an unforgettable experience! Our guide, Cowboy Nick, was exceptional, ensuring everyone's safety and comfort while prioritizing the horses' well-being. He expertly matched each rider with a suitable horse and delighted us with his vast knowledge of the terrain, plants, and even identifying wildlife and its sounds like a deer we heard from a distance —a truly magical moment.

Additionally, Nick's understanding of each horse's personality was impressive. Joining us was Jade, a new guide, whose enthusiasm and kindness added to the delightful experience.

The tour took us to the top of a mountain, offering breathtaking views and a visit to one of the helicopters scenes filming location from Jurassic Park, making it all the more special. Stopping by the beach for more scenic moments was a highlight.

From the warm welcome by the owner to ensuring everyone had water for the journey, the attention to detail was outstanding. I highly recommend this tour; it truly exceeded expectations. Remember to show appreciation to the guides—they deserve every bit of it. This tour stands out among others, offering an exceptional adventure in Maui."

This whole experience was amazing! We chose it because it offered better value than others (longer ride for less money) and reviews were good. The good reviews proved correct and this has been one of my best memories of Maui. The horses were awesome, as were the outstanding guides. Guides gave great advice and were carefully watching riders to ensure safety for all and when offering advice, did so kindly, rather than being condescending. We loved that we got to run horses at one point (that’s another reason we chose this ride), yet given a choice so that those beginners uncomfortable doing so didn’t feel pressured. Views throughout the ride were breathtaking.
