Make your way to the Alexandria City Marina, located at 105 North Union St., 30 minutes prior to your cruise's 10:30 a.m. departure time. 

Step aboard and find a comfortable seat on the covered or open deck, then enjoy the 90-minute ride on the Potomac River while listening to historical narration. A concession stand on board offers alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks, as well as popcorn. Arrive at the Mount Vernon Estate, where you can explore the mansion, gardens and landscapes, George and Martha Washington's tombs, a distillery, a museum, and other artifacts. 

The ship departs Mount Vernon at 4 p.m. for a 5:30 p.m. arrival back in Alexandria.

A Most Enjoyable Cruise

There were a couple of stops for additional pick-up but the time spent doing so was minimal. The cruise itself was relaxing and smooth and made for a most enjoyable morning trip to Mt. Vernon.

To get into visitor center entry was right away no issues. To get into George Washington's house there was about a 15 minute wait.
