About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- pjjclarke20140 contributionsA Great Day OutReally enjoyed this trip. We were well looked after by the hardworking crew onboard and had an enjoyable tour of Rottnest. Everyone should do the trip if they have the chance to do it. Some lovely beaches on RottnestWritten November 27, 2024
- emilywR6151RO0 contributionsAwesome crew!!The boat staff were all so nice, it was a rough day on the water so they made sure to tell us the best place to sit on the boat to avoid getting sick and be comfortable with our young family.Written November 27, 2024
- sakarika0 contributionsSea can be roughAn efficient and skillful service. The passanger terminal was a bit further than we expected but got there early enough anyway. For the 9 am ferry on Mon there was a long line already, so booking ahead clearly was a good idea. We had a bit of a rough sea, so if you get seasick easily, be prepared.Written November 25, 2024
- hueicheet0 contributionsFremantle to Rottnest Island with a stayOverall, it was a pleasant trip on the vessel. The hassle-free luggage was sent for us who stayed at Rottnest Island. We just got a small bag for the next day's snorkeling trip. The only thing to highlight is that the pier has no shaded and no seats for us while waiting for the vessel to park nearby. P/S: Neither Sealink nor Rottness express has shaded and seated pier.Written November 25, 2024

- MarkE200 contributionsCairns to Perth via Outback Way 2024The 4 of us had booked the Swan River Cruise and Rottnest Island Ferry and Bus Tour on consecutive days. We got the weather perfect for both days. The ferry is a comfortable 35min ride from Fremantle to the Island. Be prepared, the Island gets lots of tourists. We then took the bus tour around the island which was very informative. The driver gave us a running commentary while avoiding the numerous cyclists. In the summer season there can be up to 3000 cyclists on any one day. We were taken past several outstanding beaches, past lighthouses and other interesting structures and scenery. We even saw a snake on the road which gave a couple of cyclists a fright. My friend and I had last been on Rottnest 45years ago and at that time there was only 1 vehicle on the island and a bike rental place and very little else and Quokka everywhere, even on the wharf. Now there are resorts etc We didn't see any until we finished the bus tour and I spotted some beneath a tree just before we entered the village. We had lots of photos and the preverbal selfies were taken in various positions. The history of the island is very interesting and the bus tour with Sealink Ferries is a must.Written November 24, 2024

- patom1120 contributionsRottnest not rotten.Very efficient and comfortable ferry ride to Rottnest from Freo. Bike hire very easy. Great scenery on the island with fantastic beaches and snorkelling. Only issue was protecting your food from the seagulls at the settlement area.Written November 18, 2024
- petemarshall19700 contributionsGood serviceOn time efficient and friendly service, modern crafts. Only 30 mins from Freo to Rottnest. It would have been 5 stars but I didn't realise that we could get our bags transferred to the accommodation. I may have missed this during booking but check if you do book.Written November 17, 2024

- annettew8590 contributionsFab day out to RottnestSealink were fabulous from safety aspects, to the friendly staff! I hired the Sealink bike and it was great. Very comfortable and worked well. There are loads of bikes parked up in the racks so it might be an idea to put a ribbon or something on yours, so that you can identify it easily. The island is amazing with stunning views all over. I ate at Frankie’s in the settlement area and it was the best fish and chips I’ve had. Also had a lovely beer in the cafe at Geordie’s Bay. The staff and ambience there were great. If I’d know there was accommodation on the island, I would have stayed a couple of days. Quokkas can be found in loads of places and very they’re very cute …. and patient with the tourists. I loved my trip with Sealink so thank you.Written November 8, 2024
- craigaE5731OQ0 contributionsGreat ServicePrompt efficient ticketing system including last minute changes. Also service ran to schedule and ferry was clean and tidy.Written November 7, 2024
- ChrisS65080 contributionsVery Likely the Best Rottnest Ferry CoThe online booking process is excellent and was easily able to deal with a change I needed to make. Comms in the lead up to each journey was helpful and to the point. The check-in and boarding processes were seamless and the journeys to and from the island smooth sailing. It was a nice touch that the captain brought the ferry to a near stop so we could check out a whale on the way out. Every single team member was friendly and keen to help.Written November 6, 2024

Comprehensive tour of beautiful Rottnest Island. Free time from the arrival of the ferry before the tour actually starts is sufficient time to visit the small museum and a few shops. The train and Olive Hill gun experience was interesting—there are stairs and walking on uneven surfaces. The bus tour goes from one end to the other, but felt rushed. Couldn’t hear or understand the guide some of the time. Would have liked more time at the few stops on the tour. You have to choose to either see the sight or go to the bathroom; not enough time for both. Time was constrained due to the ferry schedule.

Thanks for taking the time to provide us with feedback from your tour on the island.
We are sorry that the tour felt rushed though, and for the poor audio as well; rest assured that we will follow this up with the operator on the island.
Kind regards,
Kat from SeaLink Rottnest Island

We wouldn’t normally do a tour as such, we are very much do it ourselves kind of people, but that’s kind of not possible here as my wife doesn’t do bikes. So we did the whole hog and took on the quite expensive tour. This suited us better as otherwise you’d need at least two days here to get right round the island and check out everything. I think this tour pretty much covered everything that we needed to see, but it was a little pricey. But if you’ve got limited time, this would be a good option. The island itself I found a little disappointing. Very busy, and lots of people lying on the ground next to sleepy quokka

Great tour. You will see Quoka's they are everywhere even in the Pubs. If you catch the Rotnest Express there is only 3 Hour parking. But they don't tell you that before you get there. We had to park 20 mins away and pay over $30 for the day for parking. be carefull.

This island is larger than expected and the bus tour was a good way to get around it for the day.
We caught the ferry (included in cost) over to the island-took about half an hour and was a bit rough at times, but the crew kindly provided ice blocks for queasy passengers to suck on during the trip.
The included a tour of Oliver Hill tunnels, led by knowledgeable volunteer guides , and views around the many picturesque beaches on the island. Their glorious coloured waters were amazing.
We would have liked more local indigenous content and referencing, during the tour.
The lunch-chicken wraps- was satisfactory.
Otherwise, a good way to see Rottnest if you only have the day.

We really enjoyed this tour and learnt a lot about Rottnest Island. The ferry/train/bus tour combination was perfect, it covered so much of the island and its history plus we saw a few quokkas along the way 😁 Lunch was great and we had the most spectacular view. The drivers and guides really went the extra mile to make the tour really enjoyable and memorable. Highly recommended

Caught the first ferry so had plenty of time to look around and find some quokas.
We did in no time they were everywhere.
Had a walk to lighthouse, morning tea with some quokas, then went on train tour which was good and interesting . Lunch supplied was good. The train had run late because 5 tourists were lost so we had to wait for them which made our bus tour start late. That was very informative and somehow we made up time and managed to get back just in time for our return ferry.

I took the extended island tour 4hrs instead of the 1.5hr tour, thinking it would be a longer tour of the island on the bus, and more time to see different parts of the island. On the 4hr tours, you do the exact some tour as the 1.5hr tour, except they get off, the train wasn't running that day, which I was informed when I bought the ticket. We then stayed on the bus, someone brought the food on for us, they took us to the gun, we sat and had our food by the gun, 30 -45mins, then had the gun tour by the volunteers, and had the bus back to the bus station. Had I'd known this, i would have done the 1,5hr tour, and I have done the rest on my own. I'd probably bought a ticket for the hop on hop off bus. I think the 4hr trip has a limited start time, probably for the lunch time snack, which made it leave 10:45, so difficult to join in free volunteers tours.i hope this helps anyone considering this tour.

Hi there,
Thank you so much for your feedback.
Yes, the four hour Grand Island Tour comprises both the bus tour of the island, as well as the tour of the Oliver Hill Tunnels and Guns, with a light lunch included.
Perhaps we can welcome you back another time to explore the island at your leisure.
Thank you for choosing SeaLink to travel to Rottnest Island.

We loved the Driver of our bus He was amazing and informative and so funny. I normally don’t enjoy bus trips, but this guy put it to a different level. We also appreciated the small gauge railway trip out to Oliver Hill. It’s an exceptionally beautiful island and it was fun to see the little quokka everywhere. No need to go to the zoo to see these guys.

We travelled with my elderly parents so this was the best way for them to see as much as they could with limited walking. Kevin was our driver and he clearly has a passion for the island and was entertaining and happy to share his experiences. A boxed lunch is included and we ate this on the train to the tunnel tour. The train is unique and the scenery is beautiful. The tunnel tour is very interesting, there are many steps and not suitable if you have limited mobility but there is a place to sit and wait in the shade and enjoy the view.

The trip was very informative. It was a good choice as opposed to biking around the island which is quite hilly in parts. There could possibly been more signage with respect to where you actually need to be to join the tour. A lot of people in our group were quite confused. The bus was very comfortable and the staff were all very approachable and the light lunch was nice. I would definitely recommend the tour overall.

Is there any free time on the tour? Will there be photo stops to see the Quakko's?
Thank you

There were photo stops on the bus tour.
I couldn’t name them now as I never had a map in the first instance. I felt it was a good trip though. Beautiful island.

I will be there towards the end of September. Would it be the right weather for snorkelling and would I have the opportunity to snorkel while on this tour?? Thanks
