We loved the rafting trip down the Tenorio river today. We were picked up promptly at our condo in Potrero and driven the operations center/restaurant in Canas, where we joined a larger group and then took a bus to the entry road, where we got into a different bus/enclosed tram and went down a class IV dirt road to put-in.
Our guide Fernando was excellent, genuinely friendly, knowledgeable and skilled on the river.
We saw numerous animals including monkeys, an anteater, a toucan, an osprey and frogs (one of which we saw get eaten by a fish).
It was fun, exhilarating and well-run. A great experience, well worth the time and money.
Thanks again to out guide Fernando and our driver from Potrero, Jose. Thanks as well to the cook at the restaurant where they bring you back to eat. Good clean, health and filling food there. Muchisimas gracias a todo!

We had a wonderful experience! Our guides, Mario, Luiz and Fernando were fantastic. They took very good care of us (including grandma - thanks Luiz!) making sure we had a good time and that we were safe. The rapids were nice since it rained earlier. The views were spectacular. Rafting the Tenorio river is highly recommended. This is the second time we used this company. We used them in June 2018 and Fernando was also our guide back then. It's good see you again Fernando. Mario, you are crazy (in a good way). We had a blast, thanks!

My husband I and booked this trip through our hotel, and I am so glad that we did. I've been white water rafting before but never through the jungle. Well this trip was a blast. Tenorio Adventures sent someone to our hotel to pick us up in the morning and bring us to the place where we would be rafting. Once we got dropped off, we had to sign a release form and tell the staff what we wanted for lunch. Then we packed onto the bus and took a 25 minute bus ride to another location, where we got onto another bus and took a 40 min ride down to the river.
In total, there were about 25 people, which was a good size group. The rafts that we used were small and only held 5 people including the guide. Well, that almost made it more fun. Since my husband and I were the only 2 in our group our raft was us, and our AWESOME guide Sammy!!!!!! Sammy has been giving rafting tours for 21 yrs. and is a blast. The entire time we were on the river, Sammy kept trying to tip us off the boat and into the river. If it wasn't for my husband I would have gone over board lol.
The smaller class rapids were a lot of fun but the class 4 rapid was AMAZING!!!!!! I was so happy that the staff also had someone following us and got great photos of us. The whole river trip was great. Once we completed that class 4 rapid we were able to get off the raft and swim around.
Being able to raft through the jungle was amazing. The scenery was breathtaking and I wish the tour was longer then 2.5 hrs. I didn't want the tour to end.
After rafting we drove back to the Route 1 restaurant to eat and look at all our photos. We don't normally buy pictures, but these photos were so great that we couldn't resist.
I would HIGHLY recommend this trip to anyone, its for people of all ages.

My husband and I visited Costa Rica for the 1st time this week and used the Tenorio rafting excursion as our transfer between the Arenal volcano area and Tamarindo.
I had never been rafting and was overwhelmed with the experience and expertise of the company and our guide, Fernando, “Apple”. We had a great time and are now planning another trip back to Costa Rica with our children and will be booking another excursion with this company. Many thanks to all who helped make our experience out of this world!

This was a great part of our trip. The family had a blast. The rapids were fun, but not too crazy. The guides were nice and funny! The guide (Jose) did a great job of pointing out wildlife and keeping me in the boat (ha ha)!

This is a great excursion. Jason was an amazing guide and so fun to spend the day with. The entire experience was well worth the money spent. We will definitely be back to do it again.
