Overview
Discover the basic steps of surfing during a 2-hour group surfing lesson from an expert surf instructor in Margaret River. Margaret River has waves that are excellent for beginning surfers, and your group lesson gets you prepared to dive in and learn to surf. Your instructor teaches how to paddle out, catch waves and stand on the board, along with offering a primer on the etiquette of surf culture. Enjoy a fun workout at one of Western Australia’s great surfing spots as you practice your new skills.
What to Expect
Margaret River is Western Australia's premier surfing destination, so this is the ideal place for a surf lesson.

Each lesson begins by meeting your coach at the Margaret River Surf School van at Redgate Beach, where you'll be fitted with a wetsuit and surfboard. All ages and abilities are catered for with this lesson.

After walking from the parking lot to the beach, begin your lesson with a talk on safety and techniques, receiving plenty of information so you'll feel confident before getting in the water. Learn about the waves, rips, any hazards, surfing etiquette, and how to carry your board, attach your leg rope, paddle for a wave, and finally, stand up. Once in the water, your coach assists you with wave selection and helps you balance as you get a feel for paddling and standing up on your board.

When your lesson ends, your coach provides a debrief and any further advice or tips you want on developing your skills. You can also ask about acquiring your own equipment suited to your needs and abilities.

3-lesson package upgrade:
A popular choice is the 3-lesson package, which provides savings compared to the individual price and gives you the time in the water that's needed to really improve your skills. When booking, select the date you would like to do your first lesson, and you can secure your second and third dates when you arrive.
