Experience Maori traditions at a Mitai Maori Village dinner show that’s a great introduction to an ancient culture. See Maori warriors paddling an war canoe, watch a powerful haka, or Maori war dance, then share a 'hangi' feast that’s cooked in a below-ground oven. With a mix of song, dance, cuisine, and games, this evening at Mitai Maori Village is an invitation to discover firsthand the Maori culture of New Zealand.
What to Expect
Meet a driver at your Rotorua hotel for transfer to Mitai Maori Village, where you’ll be greeted by Maori women in traditional attire, learn the etiquette of visiting a Maori village, and choose a Chief to represent your group.

Next, watch as warriors in traditional dress paddle the Wai-o-whiro stream in a waka, or war canoe, and see Rotorua’s native glow worms in their natural habitat. Visit the sacred Fairy Spring to spot eels and trout in the clear water, then listen to the pounding rhythm of a haka, the traditional Maori war dance.

Watch the preparation of a hangi meal that’s cooked in an earthen oven before sitting down to a feast of New Zealand meats and poultry, vegetables, salads, and a dessert buffet, with drinks available to purchase. Following an evening of Maori culture and food, this experience concludes with return transfer to your hotel.
