About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- annesO1273RZ0 contributionsOne of the more disappointing hop on hop off experiencesWe decided this would be a good way to familiarise ourselves with Perth on our first day there. Because it was the Perth Running Festival that day the route and schedule were slightly compromised. We passed what looked historic buildings, but the commentary did not describe them. This was a bit disappointing at this price point, but was a reasonable introduction to Perth.Written December 2, 2024
- JonathanP4000 contributionsA good tour for first time visitors to PerthThis is a good hop on hop off tour of Perth's landmarks which is good to orientate yourself if you are first time visitor. The full circuit takes two hours and there are two buses on the route so you can wait up to an hour for the next one at each stop. The cost for two paying on the bus was A$100 and they accept cash or card. The audio commentary was clear and informative with 12 languages available.Written October 15, 2024
- AndyF4300 contributionsVery Good ExperienceThese hop-on/ hop-off buses are an excellent way of finding your way around the city, covering most of the major landmarks. They're air-conditioned downstairs, open-air upstairs (but partly covered). Commentary is in lots of different languages, and is informative without being over-intrusive. Your ticket covers all day, so you can get off if you see something you want to visit, then hop back on a later bus. The timetable and the route are very clear.Written October 1, 2024
- V6936ICroberts0 contributionsGreat way to spend a morningGreg was great. Friendly, helpful, polite. Trip was well narrated and Greg kept it on track. Good way to see Perth and get your bearings and not too busy.Written November 28, 2019
- Andrewww0 contributionsExcellent PRBoth drivers were super helpful on our 2 day pass although we really didn't use it much. Goes past all the top spots, cost $40 for seniors $45 normally for the 2 days and once again I would highly recommend it.Written September 21, 2019
- Geoff P0 contributionsSo little timeGreat to see/learn the maximum in just one day. A stop so near Ibis was convenient for us. The one-hourly service, however, is only sufficient for three one hour stops. A twenty minute service, like that in Berlin and others, would give much more flexibility. The tour around Kings Park is most welcome.Written September 7, 2019
- GundaBoy0 contributionsNo Value For Our $$$The commentary which they give is so fast. Not clear at all. Please reconsider how could you explain in short. I could not hear most things. & You have only one rideWritten December 29, 2018
- Kate P0 contributionsSuperb day and intro to PerthWe only had one day so we did the full 2 hour roundtrip on the bus and then went on the boat. The boat trip on the swan River was fab. We enjoyed a delicious burger in Fremantle, visited the maritime museum and then took the tram your. Very interesting and fun commentary from James. Also everyone super friendly, especially lady at Captain cook cruises on Elizabeth quay, so helpful and welcoming. Brilliant day out, worth every dollar! Amazing scenery along the Swan.Written July 19, 2018
- Robima050 contributionsGreat for first visitWe didn’t really plan to use this but being out first time back in Perth for a long time we jumped on it spur of the moment. It’s a great way to get your bearings in the city and pick up some extra local knowledge. There is the opportunity to not just buy the explorer ticket but to double it up with other attractions to save some money.Written July 12, 2018
- NonandDave0 contributionsGreat introduction to PerthThe weather was bad but we still wanted to take this tour. We couldn’t go upstairs so we stayed down below near the driver. I think his name was Greg. What a great driver and a credit to this business. He knew the town, he had a great sense of humour, telling us jokes and gave great advice. We enjoyed listening to him so much that when we got off, we made sure we timed our next pick up to a run he would be on.Written July 8, 2018
- Moitravel760 contributionsVery nice way to see the townDid this for one day, weather was so nice and the ride felt so good that did not get off the bus and went around the town for almost 4 hours. Driver was very nice and explained how it worked, they only have 2 buses, so it is not like some other cities that you have a bus arrive at each stop every couple minutes, you need to wait one hour for a bus to show up, so he gave a heads up to consider this while planning. Goes to most of the attractions in the town, one of the most significant ones being the kings park. On a good day with good weather, definitely something to do ;)Written May 18, 2017
- ReynoldsTeam0 contributionsBrilliant way to get aroundWe all loved sitting on the top deck viewing Perth. It was very easy to explore Perth We bought the Perth Mint ticket also and that was brilliant to visit. The driver was very helpful too with travelling around and where to get off etcWritten April 8, 2017
- Sueaus_10 contributionsHop on Hop offEnjoyed the day spent on this bus. Give access to most major points in the city and our driver was extremely helpful, made excellent suggestions.Written February 9, 2017
- 785darrenn0 contributionsA good starting pointThe driver was friendly. An easy and hassle free way of getting around. The bus however wasn't air conditioned and it was a hot day. Very reasonably priced.Written February 5, 2017
- yhi9040 contributionsGood way to see the cityThoroughly recommend this to orientate and get around the city. We used it to do a circuit to see where all the "must sees" are and then spent the rest of the day in the beautiful Kings Park with lovely walks. Drivers are friendly and helpful and there is an interesting commentary. Tips - take a hat and sun screen!Written December 17, 2016

Great way to explore the city of Perth. Good for the inner city. Easy payment on-site as you hail the bus. Would recommend starting earlier in the morning to fully utilise the benefits of the service. Highly recommended and very informative with it's audio presentation.

We often use this type of bus to see the highlights of a new place before getting off to see the most interesting parts. With this trip it was good with a full trip round and the chance to see the main sights of the city with a guide explaining what to look for. A two-day pass allows you to see the whole on the first day and then visit the sights on the second.

We had a great trip with Craig whisking us around this easy going laidback city. Craig also helped out with an eating recommendation that was spot on. We often take advantage of the hop on bus options when hitting the ground at a new city and find they generally give you a bit of info and lets you get a feel for the place and your bearings. The Perth explorer was no exception.

We love a good hop on hop off bus and came to do this on Sunday 12th Jan. We asked information and also called them and were told they were running. Waited at the Barracks stop, Pier 3 for over an hour and called it quits. On our walk we then came to another Perth explorer stop that has a sign saying that the buses were not running over the weekend. A sign at the major stop at Pier 3 would have been very useful. Not sure why the company told us it was running if it wasn't. I am sure it would be quite a good trip but they get a poor review due to poor organisational skills.

We have known about this two day closure for the cycling championships for 8 months.
The dates have been blocked on our website and all those of our agents since then. The banner notice advising of the closure has been on all pages of our website for 10 days.
We must dispute therefore that anyone from our company would have told you that we were running if that specific question was asked.
ALL of our stops had notices affixed last Friday afternoon. A staff member removing these at 4pm Sunday has sent through photos showing the signs still on both sides of Stop 1, Pier 3, which we would be happy to send to you. You posted this review on another site and on it you said that you phoned our company at 12.41pm that day. This is also simply not true. We have phone records that prove no such call was received at this time. I have no idea what bus stop you were standing at and which company you called, but it certainly was not ours. We have been organising this closure for months and you were the only customer who failed to read the closed signs and complain.

Good starting place for a visitor to Perth as it gives an idea of relative distances and Perth is quite spread out. Highlight in my opinion is the visit to Kings park as it is unique to the city and gives great views of city and Swan river. King's park is quite close to city centre and is accessible via the CAT free bus service. For those interested, the casino and football stadium are a drop off point. My advice is to take the tour, pick the points you want to visit and use public transport or walk to them at your own pace.

Rather limited service - one bus an hour (we missed the 10.55 as the bus stop had moved outside the Mint) and there is the confusion of Bus 1 and Bus 2. They stop mid afternoon, so as we didn't realise the buses were continuous, we only did half the journey as the bus had terminated. The commentary is limited too and the bus drives quite fast round the route, which would take 2 hours to complete so start early. We can't comment on the east side of the route, but to be honest if you want to go to Kings Park, just get the blue CAT bus - it's free and goes direct. In all, a disappointing experience compared to say, the Sydney hop on, hop off bus.

Thanks for your review
We apologise for the confusion over Stop 7 at the Perth Mint. Like all bus services around the world we are the mercy of road works.
Having placed re-direction signs on the normal stop, adding signage at the temporary set down and pick up point and also showing the diversion and relevant information on our timetable and map web page we think we have done all that is reasonable to expect in the circumstances? Thankfully, very very few passengers have failed to find the information.
You are correct we do have a one hour between buses timetable. This will be due to not having 30 million annual visitors, like the major capitals of the world, to invest in another 10 buses. We also know that an hour to hop off and explore our city, river and parks is rarely enough.
The Blue CAT is indeed an option to reach the entrance of Kings Park. You perhaps should also have told anyone that reads your review that, unlike us, it doesn't have an open top, it doesn't tour the park and most definitely has no commentary describing the unique flora and fauna
Our tours conclude at just before 5pm. Is that really mid-afternoon?
Great that you take the time to review but maybe you need to consider balance and context next time?

The weather was fantastic, which helped. The tour of the city was the normal type of thing, main sights, municipal buildings, war memorials etc. The route we took had a longish stop at the park for a look around then continued. I can't say there was anything startling, but all good.

I bought a ticket for my daughter who has ASD. First time she’s stayed alone and in a strange city. She tried to catch the bus service from 3 of the stops on the map. The bus driver wouldn’t pick her up, just drove off each time. When she spoke to the service the woman on the phone YELLED at her as she YELLED at me, blaming us for not being at the right stop and repeating that the bus stops for 15 min. That is no way to treat customers especially a young person with a disability.
I don’t advise this service!

Well you threatened me with a bad review and here it is! However, I must categorically state that I did not yell at you or your daughter during our conversation. (You both most definitely yelled at me!) I maintained a firm tone in response to your accusations, I did not raise my voice. I was in a public setting at the time of our call surrounded by people who could hear my conversation with you.
Now to the events on the day, it's important to clarify that all our hop-on hop-off buses stop at each of our 15 designated stops every time, we have an on board tracker that confirms this. It's simply not possible that your daughter was at any of our stops for two days and unable to board, she must have been standing at the wrong bus stops. (Most probably the ones that belong to Perth public Transport that we are not allowed to use)
At no point during our conversations did you mention that your daughter lives with ASD. This information was only disclosed in your review.

I took the first bus out in the morning. I did this so I could see all the attractions. That is my recommendation take the first bus out. Some of the stops are hourly be sure you read the schedule. If you wanted to visit the Perth Mint and or the Bell Tower the driver has discounted tickets. The complete circuit takes 2 hours. There are also different hop on hop off tickets available. You can purchase a triple tour bus, boat & tram. Or the the triple deluxe bus, boat & tram and lunch. The triple deluxe is a 2 day package tour. Or a ticket for city to surf to Rottnest Island can also be purchased. This is also a 2 day package tour. However, any Island tours will cost extra. The last option is a bus, lunch, cruise and tram tour.

We saw the bus and decided to get. Was never told if you got off you would not be able to catch another for 2 hours. The driver told us the cost was $70, but charged $80 x2 adults. Feeling so ripped off and actually had to walk back.

I am sorry you were not happy with our service. You were charged correctly, the cheaper price is our Perth Explorer online special only and you wrote direct to us and said that where you had seen it advertised at that price. Having less buses out on the route during this very uncertain time is also advertised thoroughly on our web site.

Hi,is there any time difference in operation hours during winter?
Written June 9, 2019
Hi. My question is similar to the one about timings. We thought we would have a 2 day pass which includes going to Freemantle. However the last bus runs at 3.15 but the boat from Freemantle leaves at 3.45 so back even later. How do we make use of this effectively? Thank you
Written October 7, 2018
Hi as far as I know, there is no 2-day pass, but I could be wrong. There is enough to see in Freemantle to spend the whole day there, so why not just catch a train in and spend the day walking the town. I spent 6 hours doing prison tours alone!
Written October 15, 2018
Hi, the itinerary on this tour says you get a full day and night to explore, yet the additional info says buses operate between 9.15am and 3.15pm? As we are flying in around midday, presumably we wouldn't then have time to do this tour if buses only operate until 3.15pm. Can anyone confirm?
Written July 18, 2018
Hi, there are different tours offered by them, but the hop on & off bus is just a day and you can get on any time and then get off & back on. It is not the night at all. So if you only get there midday I would say you wouldn’t have enough time to really spend enough time at each place. Unless you just wanted to stay on the bus & not get off and explore at the different attractions.
