Cruise in comfort out to Rottnest Island from Perth or Fremantle
Look for dolphins, fur seals, and sea birds on a speedboat wildlife cruise
Customize your tour: optional bike rental or lunch at Karma Rottnest
Plenty of free time to swim, snorkel, or sightsee on the island
What to expect
Make your own way to the departure point at either Barrack Street Jetty in Perth or Victoria Quay in Fremantle to board your ferry. If you’re leaving from Perth, set sail along the Swan River and admire the views as you cruise past Millionaire’s Row. After stopping at Fremantle to pick up additional passengers, continue out across the Indian Ocean to Rottnest Island. On arrival, transfer to a speedboat for a cruise around the island—the ideal introduction to Rottnest. As you explore the island’s sandy beaches and bays, look out for wildlife such as dolphins, New Zealand fur seals, and a number of different sea birds. Back on the island, enjoy the rest of the afternoon at your leisure. Hire a bike to cycle around the island’s historic landmarks, stop to swim and snorkel at the island’s beautiful beaches, or set out on a bush walk in search of native quokkas. You could also upgrade to include a delicious lunch at Karma Rottnest. After a full day discovering the island, return to the port for your return ferry. Your tour ends back in Perth or Fremantle.

Great way to see Rotto
Enjoyed a fantastic Adventure tour with Des and Ollie, the power of the 900hp boat gets you in and out the various bays in breathtaking speed. Great to see the island from the ocean, get up close to the seal colonies and smash through the swell on the Western side of the island. Des was very entertaining and informative, and Ollies final dash to chase the Ferry into Thomson’s was a huge thrill.

The ferry and boat trip left on time. The adventure tour was exhilarating but not what I expected. However, it was very enjoyable.

Fantastic!
Dec 2020
We travelled to Rottnest Island on Tuesday 29.12.20. We were blessed with beautiful weather and a great experience. The adventure boat tour is, I think, the best way to see the island's wildlife (apart from the quokkas). We saw NZ Fur Seals, Australia Sea Lions and a pod of dolphins. Ollie and Jody made this trip very enjoyable - the ride and the commentary. So much so, that we will do it again someday to hopefully see the whales!

Hi Gaye, I'm so glad you enjoyed our adventure boat tour. I must admit it is, in my opinion, the best experience on the Island! Look forward to seeing you back travelling with us when it's whale season.

Opposite of Eco-tour
Dec 2020
To call this tour "Eco" is a joke. Speeding with 900 horse powers around Rottnest island is about as eco as driving a Hummer through a rainforest. At least we didn't hit any seals on the way. Nice people though...

Island Adventure Tour
Dec 2020 • Family
Our trip took us to the basin to see some crayfish that people had caught on a boat. Then we were lucky enough to see a Bronze Whaler Shark, everyone was so excited. Next stop off to see the NZ seals at the west end. Visited fish hook bay to see beautiful clear water and limestone cliffs. Saw the Australian Fur Seals and Osprey nests. We so enjoyed the ride Damo our skipper went fast and impressed us all with his turns to. Des our tour guide was full of information we all really thought he was amazing. A very good safety briefing by the guys at the start. Fabulous Fun afternoon thank you Des and Damo we so loved iit so much. Jill and Jenna ❤️ my Rotto

Rottnest Island Was Awesome
Feb 2020
The Trip to Rottnest Island it's a must to be if you are in Perth ! I've never seen so many beautiful beaches in the same place , It's super cool being away from the city and spend time on nature , I rented a bike for 30 AUD at arrival that I paid with my Ecuadorian Credit Card , I spent the day in the island , to be honest It would be great to spend a weekend there ! I would definitely come back !

Great day out
Mar 2020
The trip to Rottnest Island on the ferry was relaxing and enjoyable. We embarked at the Barrack St pier, and cruised down the Swan River on our way. Staff were very friendly, and the commentary on the history and current events about the river were interesting. We booked the speed boat ride on board the ferry, as we weren't sure the weather would be good. The weather turned out to be perfect. We saw Australian & New Zealand fur seals, dolphins, 2 ospreys on their nest and cormorants. The rock formations of Rottnest are unique and beautiful, and this way you see them up close. Our guides were informative and entertaining. Of course, seeing the wildlife is not guaranteed. This trip is not for small children, or anyone with a bad back, as the ride would be too bumpy even in good weather.

Hi LnL174, Thank you for your review. Our Adventure Boat tour is certainly one of our most popular tours in the Summer months. It can be quite a rough ride, (though incredibly great fun), so we don't generally recommend it for anyone with back issues, pregnant women or small children. During October and November, we also incorporate Whale Watching into this tour, as the annual migration normally takes place over these months. Thank you for travelling with Rottnest Express, and we look forward to being able to welcome you back on board again soon, for another thrilling day exploring the island. Kind Regards, Lydia

Rottnest Island it’s located About 1:30 hour by Ferry from Perth. You can book a Ferry from Perth CBD or other stations depends where are you staying. I booked with Rottnest express company the package with ferry round trip, adventure boat tour for 90 minutes around the island in a high speed boat and bikes to explore the island. Total cost was 211AUD not cheap but worth it. Great experience. You get to see the island from the water And bike around it. Perhaps a bit tiring but good for people in good shape. You you don’t want yo exhaust yourself the company offers buses to your the island.

Hi rubeny, Thank you for your review. Rottnest Express has three terminals in which we depart from; Barrack St Jetty (located near the Bell Tower in Perth city), B-Shed in the heart of Fremantle, and Northport (also known as Rous Head, North Fremantle). The services from Fremantle are closest to the island, however if you are new to Perth, our Barrack St departure is a wonderful way to see the city from a different perspective, offering a fully guided river cruise on route to Fremantle before heading out over the open ocean to the island. Any of these departures can be combined with our tours to create your own personal day trip package. You can choose to hire a bike, and make your own way around the island, or you can opt for one of our guided tours, either by bus or by speedboat. Thank you for travelling with Rottnest Express, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon, for another memorable Rottnest Island adventure. Kind Regards, Lydia

Hi SUMDAS, Thank you for your review. It's a shame that you did not find Rottnest Island to your liking. The most popular activities are certainly snorkelling and cycling, however the island is also of great historical and spiritual significance. If you are not an avid cyclist or swimmer, there are some free walking tours that can be organised at the Visitor's Centre, and a museum that showcases the local wildlife and shares the personal stories of the original use of the island in modern history. If you enjoy learning about military history, the island also boasts an impressive WWII battery on the top of Oliver Hill, which can be toured daily. I've left the best to last, the Quokkas! Rottnest is most famous as the home of the adorable marsupials. They are known as the happiest animal on earth, and make a super cute addition to any holiday selfie. Hopefully we can welcome you back to the island again soon, to explore all the beauty and history that our beloved Rottnest has to offer. Kind Regards, Lydia
