From the moment we met Stuart we knew we were in great hands, nothing was too much to ask a very kind and thoughtful tour guide. Vehicle was spotless and very comfortable even had bottle water, fresh fruit & snacks. Every detail of holiday was fantastic especially the Lake house accommodation & meals.
Stuart is very knowledgeable regarding history of areas on your tour. We will definitely be booking another tour with Acaia tours.

Thanks for the generous review and for your lovely company on our exploration of central Victoria. The Lake House is certainly a touch of luxury and an unforgettable dining experience. We really do appreciate your support. Kind Regards Stuart

City Tour and Phillip Island Tour, Both Were Exceptional
Mar 2020
We got lucky. No two ways about it. Our tour guide was Adam who had only been with Acacia for a few months after returning to Melbourne, his hometown, following his being in the private tour business "up north" (which means the Northern Territories).

When we met him at the airport in his luxury Mercedes van we thought he was just our transfer to our hotel. Nope, he said he would get us checked in and then we were to head out on our city tour. We hit all the landmarks but along the way Adam would tell us about his experiences growing up as a child in Melbourne. That was way more interesting than a dry, monotonous script.

The next day Adam picked us up at 1:00 pm for our Phillip Island excursion. By now we were old pals so spending the day visiting the Koala Conservation Center, hiking the hills at the Nobbies and having dinner in Cowes was a great prelude for entering the Phillip Island Nature Park for the Penguin Parade. After enjoying the parade with a private park ranger we were relieved to see Adam waiting for us in the lobby. Some last minute souvenir hunting, with Adam's blessing, then we were on our way back to the city. Thank goodness we had Adam to make the hour and a half drive in the middle of the night. We could not have been more pleased with Adam and Acacia Tours.

Thank-you for sharing your glowing feedback KenVicLee. Adam was thrilled to read of your complete satisfaction as indeed were we all at Acacia. We hope the memories you have of your visit to our city and state remain vibrant and that we may have the opportunity to welcome you back to our shores in the future. Kind Regards Stuart

The Perfect Way to Experience Melbourne
Jan 2020
Stuart was an incredible guide and in just a half a day we saw nearly everything we could possibly want to see in Melbourne - and had a blast doing so! Stuart is extremely knowledgable about his hometown and does a great job tailoring the experience to suit your interests. We can't recommend this enough!

Thanks for your positive review Andrew. I loved spending time with you both exploring our fair city. I don't think I have laughed so much on a tour before. What a privilege to play a small role on the occasion of your honeymoon. I hope we reconnect one day. Warm Regards Stuart

First Class Melbourne Experience with Stuart
Oct 2019
What a pleasure! We learned a lot from the super thoughtful guide/owner Stu. The stops and journey were carefully planned, and did not feel calculated. Stu took great photos (later sent via Dropbox), so we didn't feel any pressure to document everything ourselves - and got some great candids of the family.

My father is a very picky traveler and Stu's Melbourne tour was a highlight of his 70th birthday trip. We also traveled the Great Ocean Road with Stu, which was also a great experience.

11 out of 10 would recommend Acacia to anyone visiting Melbourne with their family.

Amazing Melbourne City Tour
Jun 2019 • Couples
This was a great tour. Our guide, Stuart, was prompt and very friendly. You could tell that he loved Melbourne and wanted to show it off. He bought us all sorts of foods to sample at Queen Victoria Market, and helped us find the must have hats we wanted. He was willing to sidetrack if I saw something interesting I wanted to take a picture of. We even stopped for a beer at the end of the day. He said that most people don't get pics of themselves at the tour sites, so he snapped some of us throughout the day. At the end of the day he emailed us the pics and a list of the places we had stopped (very handy to correlate back to my own pics). Stuart set the bar very high for the other tours. It was first class all the way.

Awesome Day with Stuart
Feb 2019 • Family
We had not read any reviews before our outing and really did not know what to expect. Our amazing tour planner Dick Webster (Journey Earth) had made the arrangements and we trusted him to find us an interesting tour. Let's just say it turned out to be an awesome day. Simply awesome.

As other reviewers mentioned, Stuart is an extremely charming and convivial host who clearly loves showing people around Melbourne. From the moment he met us at the hotel until getting us back in the afternoon, the day was informative and delightful.

It is hard to believe we packed so much into one day. We started at the South Melbourne Market where Stuart treated us to coffee... and then oysters and bugs. We did not expect to be treated so generously. My wife spotted some passion fruit at the market and Stuart quickly bought her some for later. Later in the day he purchased other treats that made the day special.

We saw many sites during the day (St Kilda, Albert Park, Brighton Beach Bathing Boxes, Hoiser Lane, Royal Exhibition Building, Royal Botanic Gardens, Centre Place and the Block Arcade, and on and on). Stuart read our mood correctly and we spent some somber time at the Shrine of Remembrance. But, he also recognized we wanted to hear fun stories, such as descriptions of the street art at Duckboard Place and Hosier Lane. Stuart clearly knows his city.

Traffic was a bit heavy but Stuart never made us feel rushed. The tour took a bit longer than expected, but we viewed that as a bonus.

Stuart was the perfect guide, who also took plenty of photos of us that he shared via Dropbox. That was so very thoughtful. The video of my 21-year-old son trying his first oyster will bring smiles to our faces for many years.

Thank you so much to Stuart for making us feel so welcome and for providing an exceptional tour of Melbourne.

What a wonderful review! Thank-you for sharing your experience TeddyDove. As a proud Melburnian it really is a privilege to showcase my city with such enthusiastic and fun-loving guests. I have to admit I rewatch the oyster-tasting video whenever I need a laugh. You were all such good sports! Come back again. Warm regards Stuart

Absolutely a 10!
Stuart, one of the owners was our guide. He picked us up in a new clean Audi Q7. He inquired about our interests and then catered our tour to what we shared with him. We visited a number of neighborhoods both getting out and walking while driving between them. We got a real feel for Melbourne and learned not only about the city, but also Australia.

Stu was funny, engaging and an overall delight. We highly recommend him and his company.

Disappointing
Jan 2019 • Couples
We decided to make the most of limited time in Melbourne by splurging with two private tours with Acacia. Chose the Melbourne city tour on the first day and Mornington Peninsula with heli on the second. Paul was very responsive in the planning stages of the trip. Based on that and their good reviews I gave Acacia a $700.00 (20%) deposit 8 months prior to our tours to lock in the dates. I told Paul that we wanted Stuart as our guide based on his great reviews, Paul promised we'd get Stuart and ride in the Audi Q5. Neither of those things happened.

According to Acacia's terms, the deposit is nonrefundable within 7 days of the tour date. When Acacia didn't send the invoice/confirmation 6 days out, I became worried and emailed Paul who claimed he hadn't seen my messages due to the time difference. Paul said that Stuart wouldn't be available for our tours after all due to a family emergency and that all of the Audis were being serviced on our tour dates. Instead, Paul said we would have the excellent guide Olivia and ride in a Mercedes which he claimed would be an upgrade. We weren't happy with the last minute switches and lack of communication but agreed, got Olivia's contact number and hoped for the best.

When we got to Melbourne I tried texting Olivia the day before our tour to confirm but she didn't reply. I then called Paul to confirm her number, he told me Olivia was on a tour so of course wouldn't respond, then hung up abruptly. Olivia never did answer my texts that night nor the next morning. We waited in the hotel lobby at the appointed time and didn't see anyone with our name card or an Acacia vehicle. I went outside and saw a woman next to a black Mercedes van chatting with the hotel staff, asked if she was our guide and she said yes. Awkward and disorganized start of the day.

The Mercedes was a van with a high step up, NOT an upgrade for a person with a bad knee. The weather forecast was for temperatures to exceed 100 degrees F the day of our city tour, no one's fault of course, but Olivia did not adjust our itinerary. Instead of taking us to the Bathing Boxes and St. Kilda while it was still relatively cool, she started with us walking around the CBD (central business district) which was mostly indoors or shaded by buildings and then on a ride (excessively long) to look at street art outside the CBD. Then she took us to a covered, non-air conditioned market. At this point we said that we didn’t want to stop for lunch and wanted to press on to the Bathing Boxes, but she insisted on marching us around the market for a while. We finally left, got in the van, and she decided to stop at the same market to pick up lunch because she was hungry. Although she got us each a small fried dumpling, we’d have preferred to skip eating and move on but Olivia would not have it. We finally went to the Brighton Bathing Boxes, but since we were short of time, she skipped St. Kilda and took us back. Also, we expected to get goodies throughout the day as was described in Acacia's reviews of Stuart’s city tour. Instead our "morning tea" consisted of a small cup of iced coffee in an outdoor alley. Finally, at the end of the city tour, Olivia promised to send us an email that night with suggested restaurants, but did not follow through.

The second day in Mornington was OK but not up to Acacia's advertised lofty standards either. Olivia missed some turns (as she had done the previous day) and had to double back again each time. We love gardening and Paul had promised that we would visit Cranbourne Gardens, but Olivia claimed that going there after the winery lunch would be difficult to squeeze in so we agreed to skip it. Afterward we saw on a map that Cranbourne was on the way back to Melbourne. When we said goodbye, Olivia had me put my email address in her phone again and promised to send us pictures. She never followed through on that either.

Olivia asked us to review Acacia on TripAdvisor so here it is. We took several other private tours during our trip, and each one was both better and more reasonably priced than Acacia. We are very disappointed and can't recommend Acacia as a luxury tour experience.

I am very sorry to hear that your experience was less than you had hoped it to be BabyBoomerCouple, and surely unaided by the oppressive heat on the day of your Melbourne tour. I am also sorry that I personally was unable to escort your tours due to an unexpected family emergency. As a young company that prides itself on the quality of our tours we take your feedback very seriously. We have commenced a full review of the two tours you undertook. Your feedback will be valuable as we continue to strive for excellence. Kind Regards Stuart

Top notch luxury private touring experience!
Nov 2018 • Couples
After talking to numerous private touring company we finally chose to go with Acacia Tours for a customized Mornington Peninsula Tour. We made the decision as they were the “only touring company” that will listen and pay attention to what we need. On top of it, they also gave us great recommendations on other places that we should not missed. We liked their proposal so much that we decided to take another private tour with them to tour the Melbourne City.

Our guide for both tours was Stuart who is the co-owner of Acacia Tours. On the day of the tour he showed up in an immaculately clean brand new Audi SUV (talking about first impression….). He was professional, friendly and a great conversationalist (trust me some tour guides don’t even know how to communicate with a client properly and makes you wonder if you are talking to the air). The whole private tour was perfectly executed and Stuart took care of all the details (he even act as our private photographer so we don ‘t have to worry about a thing!) We had a splendid day at Mornington Peninsula

On our City Tour, Stuart was able to show us different parts of Melbourne. Frankly, we have been to Melbourne before but without taking this tour we would never know so much history and hidden places that Melbourne has to offer. Now, we have a glimpse of how a Melbournian live their everyday lives in this lovely city.

Overall what makes Acacia Tours stand out is their ability to listen, plan and execute the itinerary according to what the clients’ needs. We have had quite a number of private tours in our lives but we never had such a great experience as we had with Acacia Tours.

Their professionalism and expertise was phenomenal. We highly recommend Acacia Tours to anyone who want to have a top notch luxury private touring experience.

Thanks very much Olivia and Peter. As seasoned travellers, your positive feedback is very meaningful. It was a real pleasure to show you our beautiful city and state and we are pleased we could make "come alive" for you. As we specialise in bespoke and customised itineraries, it was easy for us to accommodate your specific interests and offer some tailored suggestions too. I do hope we see you again in the future.
