- Julie B00A Delightful Day of Exploration: Hop-On Hop-Off Wine Tour in the Adelaide Hills!I recently had the pleasure of arranging a group of 13 family members for a hop-on hop-off wine tour. The experience was nothing short of delightful. Trail hopper a local South Aussie business offered a unique and flexible way to explore the picturesque wine country, and was a fantastic way to spend a day immersed in the world of wine and with family.
- momentsbyMimC00Fun in the vinesEverything was perfect. The pick up and drop of times were as scheduled. The variety of wineries extensive and we had time for 3 tastings AND a lunch stop for pizza and beer ( shhhh you didn't read it here). Both were excellent BTW. Our driver was the BEST, friendly, informative, helpful and we had a fun and friendly vibe with our fellow wine appreciators. It was recommended that we pre-book our tastings directly with wineries beforehand. This does mean you have to have an idea of where you would like to go first. We did book and on the day the wineries were quiet so getting a tasting without a booking would not have been a problem. OUr tour day was a Sunday and apparently the previous day was very busy. Some of our fellow wine appreciators made their decisions on a whim and they had fantastic experiences also. A great service that I highly recommend and we look forward to joining Trail Hopper in the future.
- Louise A00A must do!We spent a week in Adelaide and booked 2 x TrailHopper tours; one being the Adelaide Hills + Hahndorf and the other being the Barossa Valley tour. Let me tell you - WOW! Obviously the places are incredible, but the tour pick up and drop off was just EASY! It really was a breeze. We had Kyle as our tour guide for both trips (lucky us - he's so cool!) and he was super informative, shared many laughs and very helpful with choosing where to go and was always on time for drop off and pick up at each location. Could not rate this highly enough. The booking process was easy through WhatsApp and both day tours were so so enjoyable. Myself and partner are SO grateful we chose this option and didn't fork out several hundred dollars for a car hire - we would have missed out on so much information and enjoyment! Thank you Kyle and TrailHopper! What an amazing two days we had with you! Highly recommend to everyone heading to SA. PS - there's a bbq and place to stay when you head over to the East Coast ha ha! Thank you again, Lou + Ian
- Belinda1300Barossa Valley with Trail HopperMy granddaughter and I went on a hop-on, hop off wine tasting tour with a small group of people. Nathan our guide was amazing - good sense of humour and extremely knowledgeable. We learnt about our surroundings as we went through the Barossa Valley and Nathan also gave us information on the different vineyards. Being able to get off the bus, have tastings and lunch wherever we chose along the way was fantastic and Nathan was spot on time to pick up each "group" from their respective stops. I wouldn't hesitate to go on this tour again when I'm next in Adelaide.
- erintB654OW00Highly recommendWent on the adelaide hills tour last week with a group of friends. The tour was so well organised, communication was clear and the driver couldn't have been more friendly or accommodating. The bus was on time at every stop and was very clean and comfortable. Overall great value and we all had a great time, would highly recommend.
- nibinyue00A Lovely ExperienceThank you for having us. We enjoyed ourselves. It would be great if the routine of the bus could be explained more.
- jacinta71500HandyThe set up of this tour is really convenient and the flexibility to create your own wine tour is great when you don’t have a car.
- johnwE1509IE00Great visit to Adelaide HillsThe Trailhopper visit to Adelaide Hills was outstanding. Excellent driver/guide with helpful advice. The programme of visits was well designed and a very pleasant experience.
- mikester900Highly Recommend - Amazing ExperienceHad an incredible time on the Barossa TrailHopper tour. We did the tour with the lunch included and it was amazing! Nathan was an awesome guide/driver and he knew everything you could know about the region. I think we ended up buying over 6 bottles of wine but the highlight was the general experience. I highly recommend! We’ll be going on another tour soon!
- DJinHouston00Good value. Top rated options.Excellent customer service. Family operated. Enjoyed high end options. Plan your stops as you’ll only have time for four.
- K7067CGellag00Great way to see the BarossaWe loved our day in the Barossa with the help of Trail Hopper. The bus was very punctual and ran to an efficient schedule. Our driver Kyle was very communicative about pick up and he was knowledgeable about the vineyards. Would definitely use again!
- baandres100Best Way to Taste Barossa WinesHop-on, hop-off is a great way to taste wines from a range of wineries in the Barossa Valley. High quality experience, with the driver friendly yet pushy enough to keep on schedule. Police with breathalyzers await unwary personal drivers in Tanunda.
- ellenrandall80700Great tourTrail Hopper was great! I loved being able to select the wineries we went to and there was plenty of information online, on the bus and a knowledgeable bus driver to make choosing our stops easier. We got some information on the history of the region as well as some tips on places to go in Adelaide. I would definitely book another tour with Trail Hopper in the future
- Klaudia K00Great option for exploring Mclaren Valethe hop on hop off bus was a great option for visitors from Sydney who didn't want to drive to the wine regions. The format is simple you will get to visit 3 places and think about reserving time for lunch - some of the wineries have amazing food! the drop off is in center of Adelaide very convenient.
- Fearless6374999633100Great value small group wine trailNathan was our driver and he went out of his way to give us a great tour. Plenty of local knowledge and an outgoing personality. Would go again with this company to a different region.

This is the best way to visit the Barossa Valley. You can sit back and enjoy the scenery, the wine and taste the delicious local produce while Lawrence, our informative driver, kept an excellent schedule enabling us to visit a number of great locations. The selection of wineries to visit was fabulous. Our favourite was Lambert Estate Wines where the wine and food platter were outstanding.
We highly recommend Hop-on Hop-off Barossa Valley tours.

Hi Jack and Jo here, we are writing on behalf of our whole bus tour because they are lazy, there are 7 of us so you must take this as 7 seperate reviews.
MONIQUE Is a lovely, happy, friendly tour guide. Like many other reviews we had this as a last option as every other tour was booked out, but we are far from disappointed, what an experience. Highly recommend and is worth your time, the tasting fee’s at each location are minimal and are made up in price difference to the other tours. Monique has an abundance of information and knowledge and will guide you to each place that will best suit you, if not you have free range on choosing what you think will best suit you. Good music, good vibes and many a laughs.

From all 7 of us, Thank you

A great way to do a wine tour in a flexible and economical way. For only $80 we could see up to 4 wineries and we could pick from a large list along with the ability to stay longer.
Bus comes around each hour and is spot on time.
I would suggest staying longer at Yalumba as 1 hour was not long enough to see the most magnificent grounds. Especially in autumn.
Bronny our bus operator was great value and knowledgeable.
I would highly recommend this option and I am keen to try the other regions with Trail Hopper. Thanks!

The hop on and hop off tour is perfect for those who want an easy way around to different wineries without being bound to a strict schedule. This was me and my boyfriend’s first time visiting the Barossa Valley and it allowed us to try different wineries in the region, stop when we wanted to stop at a winery or stay longer when we wanted to! As we were staying in Barossa, the bus was able to pick us up from a convenient location in town. Our tour guide Yvette was so welcoming and accomodating to all the passengers needs.
As this is transport only, you will need to organise your own wine tastings at each cellar door but this was so easy to do online! The information on the trail hopper website about each winery was helpful for us to choose where we wanted to go as well.
I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to hit up some wineries without paying for an expensive tour. I would definitely be using them again the next time I visit the Barossa!

This is a well organised trip to some special wineries. You get to chose four places where you’d like to do tastings from a list provided. A small mini bus means you don’t feel crowded. A full day trip.
Make sure you book direct with Trailhoppers and not other companies who’ll advertise this service but take a commission.

Loved this tour. We had 12 wineries to choose from. We also visited one that was not on the list but one we were really interested to see. Nathan our driver was very knowledgeable and very personable. We visited Rockford, St Hallets, Saltram and Penfolds Providence. Highly recommend each of these wineries. We had lunch at Saltram and had the $39 share menu which included a pizza, salad, chips (could not eat it all) and a dessert. It also included two tastings of wine and from the two tastings you chose which one to have with your meal. This tour is so reasonably priced and it includes pick up from Adelaide and return.

An amazing experience! Bronny was a wonderful tour guide. I was travelling alone and she was so kind, making sure I was going ok.
The wineries were excellent. I feel like Rusden is a must stop-it was my favourite. I found the hosts to be the most welcoming of all the wineries. I created my own cheese platter and enjoyed fabulous wines. And it was a bonus seeing a winery dog ❤️ I even shipped a bottle home for a flat fee of $15-better than risking it on the flight home.
Maggie Beer’s is a great way to round off the day with coffee, cake and a spectacular view. I’m so happy I stumbled across this tour company. Thank you so much!

This trailhopper is such a great concept and works exceptionally well for this region. If you want to sample good produce without the hassle of driving then this is the way to go. If you’re savvy you can fit in 4 wineries out of a grand list, FYI, Bethany is a must for top tasting wine. If you only have carry on luggage most places ship back home. This tour is well organised, fun and a great easy way to explore some beautiful wineries. Even if you don’t like wine, the food is great and there are a few gin places. My tips, pre plan where you want to stop so do your research before you go, the providence is a good one stop shop for food, wine, coffee, tea and excellent gin, and Maggie Beer’s farm is a must. If you want a tour with class then this is for you, if you want a boozy trip the stay in the city and bar hop.

Enjoyed the whole day. Was good being able to choose which winery you wanted to visit. Service was awesome and our driver Bronnie was very knowledgeable, not just about the wineries and the region but about Adelaide in general. Gave some great tips about pubs and restaurants and the go to and not go to areas. Overall fab day out and would recommend.

What a great day! Yvette was our fabulous tour guide/driver and she provided our interstate guests with background about Adelaide as we left the city and a great overview of the Barossa region. We had such a relaxing time and managed to visit 3 wineries and have a wonderful lunch. Family from interstate said this trip was the highlight of their visit to SA and they definitely want to do it again when they come back over. Highly recommended!

Hi there susannep685,
Thank you so much for such a thorough and fantastic review! It's always nice to take a slightly slower day and go for an extended stop for lunch, so I am glad that worked out well for you.
Thank you as well for your kind words for the wonderful Yvette! Our drivers are very knowledgeable, and it's fantastic that she was able to add something extra for those from out of town. You'll have to get them back over here soon for another tour!
Once again, thank you.

Hi what time is the pickup from the Stamford hotel?
Is there just 1 pickup time?
What is the last bus arrival time return to Stamford hotel?
What’s the max wait time for hop on bus?

Best to check the the "Hop on Hop Off" Web site for timetable details as there are a few different trips that vary in their times and I would think times can be subject to change.

Hi S5969FTsharonm, This is probably a question you should ask the Hop on Hop Off company. It's likely a matter of if they can accommodate any luggage you may have! I'd give them a call/email. I received a quick response with emailing. Thanks

Yes, there is a list of wineries. Go to the Trailhopper website. You pay for most tastings but get that back when you purchase wine at the cellar door. Not sure about pick up point as we were staying in region. Hope this helps!

Hi Kylie, it will be listed on their time-table. This is the list of stops - Grant Burge Wines, St Hallet, Bethany, Rusden, Lambert Estate, Yalumba, Saltram, Provenace Barossa (includes Penfolds), Kaesler. Recommend that you do a little research first before you decide as quite likely the max that you can do is 4 out of the list.

The price for one person is 44 if you are book for two. Why is the price higher if only one person is doing the booking? It is still a group of people, right? Why does the price change if if the group is the same size? Never seen anything like this before.
