      A wonderful tour
I loved this tour. Bill the guide was friendly and informative. The scenery was beautiful and the waterfalls amazing. So glad I decided to do it, and a great break from all the theme parks and hustle bustle. Who knew such beauty was so close to surfers paradise.

Excellent tour of the stunning hinterland and some beautiful waterfalls and lookouts.
I did this 5 hour tour with my 80 year old mother-in-law and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. There were only 9 people on our tour and our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the area. The rainforest areas we visited were stunning and the waterfalls magnificent due to the recent rains. It was a lovely way to see something more than the coastline that the Gold Coast is renowned for. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who doesn’t have a lot of time and wants to see some beautiful scenery.

A great day with an amazing tour guide and driver
From start to finish a first rate experience. Dave (our driver and tour guide) was a wealth of information and his running commentary throughout the tour made it so much more immersive. His obvious apprecation of the Indigenous peoples and their connection to the land was certainly apparent in the stops along the way. I would heartly recommend this tour to almost anyone. There is a fair bit of walking with some height changes (steps, both up and down) but easily accessible to people used to a bit of walking and hiking. Well done Dave!

      A Wonderful Nature experience
We chose this tour to take friends out for the day to experience the Gold Coast Hinterland and we were not disappointed! Our guide and driver David was highly experienced offering interesting stories and insights into the region - his knowledge of the area was impressive - we learnt so much! We loved Natural Bridge as the highlight of the trip and enjoyed the many stops finding it all very interesting - the scenic drive was also picturesque. Highly recommend this tour for visitors to experience more to the Gold Coast than just the beaches and shopping! A professional operation who provide an enjoyable day out exploring the Springbrook National Park.

Rushed and you lunch isn't really optional
We went on the Lamington Park tour from the Gold Coast. The pick up time was 9:15am and they ask that you arrive 5-10 minutes early. We did and they were early so this made for a smooth start. Our guide did not introduce himself (later learned that his name is Andrew) or any of the other guests (on other tours guides have surveyed the guests to find out where people are from, if it is there first visit, etc. and we have found this to be a nice way of getting people to talk/make connections). He did give us some interesting history of the Gold Coast as we left the area which we appreciated. Our first stop was a restroom break (advertised as a coffee/tea break but there was no time for that). From there we went to a nice lookout and cakes/popcorn/pretzels and boxed drinks were provided. At this point he passed around menus for us to choose our lunch choices (lunch was not included). We had noted when booking the tour that lunch is listed as "optional" and so I had asked if we could bring our own lunch. I was told yes, that we could bring a picnic lunch to eat at the winery. When we told our guide that we had this and were not going to order lunch, he seemed very surprised and said that wasn't really allowed and we would have to be very discreet and eat away from the main area where we couldn't be seen. Our next stop was O'Reilly's Rainforest. This was a fascinating place and well worth spending time here. Unfortunately, the whole thing felt very rushed. It was not crowded at all, so we really just wanted to take a few minutes in one place and really see/hear all the amazing life around us. The pace was set to keep moving and not linger in one spot, so this was disappointing. After leaving, we went to the winery for lunch, where there are clear signs prohibiting any outside food on the premesis. We took our lunch down to the river (a beautiful spot!) and discreetly ate our lunch. The bird life there was amazing. A quick drive home had us back at our hotel by 3:20, making us feel that we could have had more time at the rainforest. The trip was worth taking because we wanted to see the area, but we will not use Southern Cross tours again.

      Awesome 👍
On 1st October 2023, I had the pleasure of embarking on a remarkable journey with Amber to explore Natural Bridge and Spring Brook National Park. The experience was nothing short of enchanting. Amber's expertise extended beyond just guiding us to these breathtaking locations; she also ensured our comfort by providing snacks and water throughout the trip. I managed to capture captivating moments at the Glow-worm Cave, Purling Brook Fall, and the lush forest. Along the way, Amber's kindness shone as she rescued a snake on the road and paused to introduce us to the charming kangaroos. An unforgettable adventure, thanks to Amber's care and knowledge.

Was a good tour. Aaron our guide was friendly & had a sense of humour. You start with a bit of 4wding up the mountain, then to the restaurant for coffee & cake, Then a short drive to the track. We walked about 10mins with torchlight, and Aaron pointed out some creatures, such as spiders, frogs & giant crickets. Seeing the glow worms in their natural habitat was good. Unless you had a high powered camera, there’s no way of taking photos or videoing them. After your eyes adjusted to the darkness you could make out the waterfall. Then it was back up the track & last chance to spot some creatures, then to the van for the drive home.

For a tour at $109 a ticket, I expect more than a twenty-minute walk through the rainforest, one sighting of glow worms, and a homemade communal jug of hot chocolate.

Our group of four were excited about this tour as we'd brought international friends for the first time. The disappointment began in the very rough and uncomfortable bus ride up to Mt. Tamborine. We learned then from our male tour guide, whose remarks were often brazen and snarky, that the moonlight would dull the glow worms' visibility and therefore we would be unlikely to experience the tour properly. He was incredibly right.

In the end, we spent only twenty minutes in the forest with faulty torches. The tour guide spoke more of a poisonous plant and trapdoor spider than he did the glow worms. When we actually came across a glow worm site, their light was barely visible with virtually nothing to see. I understand this is largely due to the moon's fullness, but the tour should not have commenced if the experience was going to be obstructed by this event.

The promised cake and hot chocolate at the end of the tour were almost laughable. You would think a cafe would have proper barista hot chocolate rather than one big jug of instant chocolate powder with bubbles better suited to a bathtub than frothed milk. Forget the lactose-free option for a member of our group who is dairy intolerant. I wasn't even surprised that they ran out of one of the cake flavour options despite having numbers beforehand.

I will recognize that the tour guide was knowledgeable and communicative, but overall this experience was extremely poor. Barely a glow worm to see with disappointing sustenance provided. For added measure, this tour was originally advertised as being three hours long. We were back in Surfer's Paradise in under two hours.

Due to our poor experience, I cannot recommend this business or tour. $109 is a complete rip-off for the service we received. We would not be back even if the price changed to $50.

Thank you for taking the time to express your honest impressions of your recent tour with us. I'm truly sorry to see that the experience did not live up to your expectations. Unfortunately, when dealing with nature, there is a chance that the uncontrollable elements can have a negative effect on the tour itself, and it seems that in this instance, the brightness of the full moon did just that in relation to the visibility of the Glow Worms. This is why your guide on the night made every attempt to bring this to your attention early, and added extra informative commentary on some of the other local flora and fauna found on the track. With regards to the hot chocolate and cake, once again, we are sorry this did not live up to your expectations. If specific dietary requirements and/or allergies are not communicated to us, we sadly have no control on how the historic house, which opens outside of its normal operating hours to accommodate us and our guests, will cater for individuals. The advertised 3 hour experience does include pick-ups and drop-offs in and around The Gold Coast, so on any given night, if the group is smaller, or if all guests are fortuitously able to be collected from the one location, this will of course shorten the travel time to and from the top of the mountain. Once again, thank you for providing this honest feedback.

This tour was amazing. Absolutely worth every penny.
I got picked up just a 2 minute walk from my hostel, and the tour guide introduced himself (Duff) straight away, he was so friendly and patient with the group throughout the evening.

The tea and cake included when we reached the Tambourine mountain was a lovely touch, it was a perfect balance because there was no wasted time but we also were not rushed.

Duff had very extensive knowledge of the area, and the track we went down was beautiful even at night. He pulled out all the stops to make sure we saw as much wildlife as possible, and throwed some humour in there too which kept everyone engaged, even the younger kids there.

The glow worms were absolutely incredible, I never thought I would see that many, and the waterfall was beautiful too. It is such a unique thing to see.

Absolutely 10/10 experience I would 100% book this tour if you haven't already and if all the tour guides are as good as Duff then you're in for a great time!

We took a evening tour with southern cross and Trent was out tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about the local area and the fauna and flora where we were going to and passionate about sharing with us and you could tell he loved what he did. The weather was kind to us even thou raining on the coast was a very nice evening inland. Down at the water fall, the glow worms were like looking at stars. A well worth tour and the chocolate cake at The Manor was sensational.

Of course spotting the Glow Worms was the highlight but seeing the waterfall under moonlight and walking through a rainforest by torchlight was a close second. Although the moonlight affected the main glow worm viewing, our guide was able to take us further along to find a lovely colony.
The coffee and cake was delicious and the restaurant was very interesting and welcoming.
Pickup was punctual and reliable on both Southern Cross tours that we did during our stay on the Gold Coast.

Slightly different because you would normally associate Australia with tours closing down by 5-6 pm. This one starts at 6 pm with the pickup and finishes by about 10 pm. It also involved an interesting detour on the way to the caves and our guide (Duff) who had a witty humor.

The walk to the caves in the dark is quite straightforward, even though you are walking in pitch black, thanks to the torches. The glow worms are really awesome to watch. We did manage to spot a lizard, many frogs, huge crickets and spiders, and termites on our short walk to the glow worms.

Overall, we would highly recommend this tour.

Great little activity for anyone looking for something new to do. Myself and my partner had a great time, and our tour guide Duff had plenty of dad jokes locked and loaded to keep the vibe light and entertaining. The cafe was lovely, and the dessert was delicious, just wish we were given a little more time to enjoy it.

The glow worms are a little underwhelming, and the only other animal we saw was a trapdoor spider. The tour was still worth it for something new and fun to experience, but I wouldn’t go in with high hopes of seeing a lot of animals.

We booked a tour for the glow worms at night and it was fantastic. Our tour guide, Harry was super friendly and knowledgeable about a plethora of things around the area. The tour included very nice cakes. We were lucky it was raining in the rain forest, which made it a different kind of nice experience. Harry gave us so much information about the area and once in the rainforest, we showed us around everything. After the tour, he also recommended great places around Gold Coast. Would definitely book another tour with "Southern Cross tours" and recommend it to anyone in the Gold Coast.

Great change of pace from the typical night life. Amazing experience being surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest and wildlife. The glowworms are really magical. Our guide Alex had great knowledge and insight of the area, and made it feel very safe but still fun. I highly recommend if you're looking for more of a wind down evening that's still fun.
