What to expect

Reach the Great Barrier Reef in just over an hour on one of the fastest boats in the area, letting you spend more time in the water. Visit two prime snorkeling locations on the reef to see its famously diverse marine life. Guides provide instruction and encouragement for nervous snorkelers and help scuba divers with their gear, ensuring that everyone has a positive experience. Those wanting to stay dry can upgrade to the guided semi-submersible tour (payable upon arrival). Spend several hours exploring the reef, including time for a buffet lunch including Australian barbecue, salads, pastas, and seafood. Return to the original departure point at the end of the tour.

Amazing Day at the Reef!
The crew was faultless - Eddie the customer experience manager, Phil the deck manager, and Josh, Dom & Aaron who were the diving instructors made my day at the reef very enjoyable. They were methodical, experienced, and both Phil and Emily are marine biologist so I have learnt a lot from them about the marine ecosystem! Lunch was delicious and plentiful, and the equipment supplied was well maintained and cared for - big tick as it made the dive & snorkel that much more enjoyable

Beautiful day at reef
May 2021 • Solo
Had a great day at the reef. Travelled solo but
never felt alone. Enjoyed the guided snorkel tour at both reef sites. Staff were friendly and helpful. It’s a big catamaran. The snorkelling was incredible.

Great day out at the reef
Apr 2021
Very enjoyable, well organised day out at the reef. We visited two separate sites for snorkelling and also did the introductory scuba dive. The crew were all very friendly with several of them being qualified marine biologists as well as dive instructors. The intro dive was a great experience. The instructor made us all feel safe with several checks done to make sure we would be able to dive safely before going down.
Lunch was a buffet served by the crew & there was tea & snacks available mid morning/afternoon. The numbers on board were reduced due to covid restrictions but it was very busy & we definitely wouldn't have wanted any more people than there were as it was crowded getting on & off the back of the boat for snorkelling as it was.
The reef is amazing. It was a shame that on the day we visited no photographer was onboard as we would have loved to have had some underwater shots of us on the scuba dive.
It was a very enjoyable day out that we'd recommend and do again. The only thing that let down the day was when we got back to Cairns we had to sit on the bus taking us back to our hotel and wait for over an hour for passengers from two other boats to arrive before we left. This was a shame that a great day out aboard Evolution was let down by the transport company as after an early start & busy day we just wanted to go home, not sit at the Marina in a bus for over an hour. Other than that it's a very good trip that I'd recommend doing to visit the Great Barrier Reef.

We really enjoyed our snorkelling trip today. The crew were extremely organised and the systems to make check in and allocation of snorkel gear were smooth and efficient. The equipment was well maintained and good quality. All of the crew were positive and happy. Thank you for a fun day!

Unforgettable Experience
May 2021
Definitely a must-do whenever you are in Cairns! We had such a great snorkelling experience and the reef looked beautiful!

Highlights: Well organised; two beautiful reef locations; high concern for the safety of passengers; friendly crew and instructors.

We booked the extra $25 maritime biologist tour which was a fantastic experience as well and definitely worth the price.
However, I would have liked to get more information about the reef itself. There were a lot of TVs on the boat and this would be a great opportunity for more educational content about the environmental impacts on the reef etc. - I think those tours provide a great opportunity to raise more awareness.

Great experience
The staff were really enthusiastic, great for tourist snorklers especially during COVID where they had some routines down. Both reef locations were great, plenty of fish and a lot of live coral compared to other snorkel spots in the area.

Fantastic reef experience
May 2021
Snorkelling the reef was magnificent. An experience I didn't even know I wanted and now will never forget. The staff from Down Under Cruise & Dive were friendly, helpful and caring. Even those who couldn't swim were able to have a snorkelling experience. The two places that we stopped to snorkel had absolutely amazing reef viewing. I would absolutely recommend this cruise and will be doing it again in the not too distant future. I would recommend you take an underwater camera as there is just so much to see under the water.

Norman reef was good but Hayman reef was amazing. If you only go on one tour from Cairns this should be it.
