We booked on this tour with Deb as our driver/tour guide, from the time we were picked up Deb was very informative and happy to help with any and all questions. Deb has extensive knowledge of Kakadu and surrounding areas.
The bus was a comfortable 20 seater Toyota and rode well.
We stopped for a morning coffee at a roadhouse 1 hour out of Darwin then continued to Ubirr to see some rock art and East Alligator River cruise, we also had time to stop at the nearby art gallery.
Lunch was amazing and plenty of snacks and cold water, the rock art was awesome with Deb informative stories. The cruise was amazing with Gleeson our skipper who told us about how his family gather materials for spears etc and an amazing story of having a pet croc for sometime.
We arrived back in Darwin around 6:30pm and would definitely recommend this company for any trips around Darwin.

Deb was such an amazing tour guide, knowledgeable and friendly answering all questions. It was a truly amazing experience for us and the children (5 and 7). The rock art and scenary was beautiful and the guides on alligator river amazing and so great to learn more about this beautiful country. Small tour size made a difference, I would highly recommend for anyone travelling with kids (but have your own additional snacks) and be prepared for a long bus ride! Thanks Deb, just awesome.

Wonder how Nev(our tour guide) keep his energy and enthusiasm up from 5.40am throughout 12 hours tour. I am sure his superman! Also his knowledge is impressive and hospitable manner is Creme de la creme of this tour. Prior to join this tour I've done some research by checking review, few people mentioned "well organised" which made me to choose this tour for my bucket list trip. Tour operator informed you via text about hotel pick up time well in advance. This step made early morning pick up run very smooth unlike other tour(by different operator)I've done a couple of days ago which was total disaster and caused delay by driving around looking for people. Tour operator also ask you to inform your hotel that you are joining this tour which more ensuring this COVID time for contact tracing. Plenty of cool water offered. Lunch was delicious and served at perfect time. Snacks came around for morning tea time and afternoon tea time as well. Bring your own Sunblock and make sure to apply throughout day as Darwin heat can be very challenging. Insect repellent is must. Require to purchase pass for Kakadu Park $25 for adult if you haven't purchased online in advance. If you must have internet connection during this tour recommend to have Telstra Sim as my Vodafone had no recption during majority of tour. I have to say it was nice to be free from technology for awhile. You won't regret picking this tour.

Do your research. We toured with Off-Road Dreaming on their Litchfield National park Day tour and were totally impressed so we booked the Kakadu with them also. The itinerary I read was for the Dry Season and unfortunately this had been prematurely changed to the Wet Season itinerary ( October to May). We went to Nourlangi Rock Art site instead of Ubirr and our cruise was on the Yellow Water Billabong instead of the Guluyambi Cultural Cruise. We had chosen this tour also based on the Dry Season tour itinerary. Missed out on 'stepping on to Arnhem Land' and a cultural experience here. Positives...Mike our tour guide and driver was pleasant, informative and helpful. The picnic lunch was fresh, healthy chicken and salad and more than enough for all. Snacks and cold water provided also for the day. Negatives... about 8 out of the 12 hours spent driving. Changed itinerary without notice, limited activities. Do your research to make sure the day tour you pick suits your needs.

Thankyou for touring with us and your review.
Typically we start the Season on 1st March, with our Nourlangie and Yellow waters Itinerary, in Kakadu's Central Region, due to Wet Season rains making the East Alligator and Arnhem Land Region inaccessible.
This runs until about the end of April, when we switch to our Ubirr and Guluyambi itinerary, which usually operates until early October.
At some point in October we usually switch back to Nourlangie and Yellow Waters again.
(When the rains start, exactly when this will be, is unpredictable and different every year.)
We offer selected departures in November and then we close the public tours December, Jan and Feb every year, due to consistent heavy rains that create road closures and flooding.
All of our itineraries may change at the last minute due to weather and cultural reasons.
Sometimes we have less than 24 hours notice ourselves, so it is not possible to commit to any itinerary fully in advance.
Road and location closures can happen at any time of the year, not necessarily following exactly a Wet/ Dry Season calendar and in response to cultural events.
We are a small flexible team here at Offroad Dreaming and can work together with National Parks to find alternative, accessible areas.
Where possible we will always provide a similar experience in a different region, whilst not the same, can offer you views and activities covering the same interests.
You are welcome to call with any enquiries on 0889312021 or email bookings@offroaddreaming.com.au for the latest updates.
Regards,
Yvonne

Deb our tour guide was a wealth of knowledge, provided us with a lovely lunch, was very approachable if you had questions and went above and beyond to retrieve a lost item of mine, which I am truly grateful for. A big shout out to the employees of the Corroboree Tavern for the return of this item and a great place for a rest break. Ubirr rock art and the lookout over the floodplains was a truly amazing experience. I felt very privileged to step into Arnhem land even if only briefly and the river cruise was a relaxing and informative insight into the aboriginal culture of this area. The only downsides to this tour is the amount of travel time on bus seats, which were hard to get comfortable in. We were also lucky that a few seats were vacant on the bus, so we could store our backpacks, for those that couldn't it would be a tight squeeze.

Being part of a small group of travellers enabled us to have a more intimate experience. Our guide Deb had a wealth of knowledge and ensured all of her charges were kept safe and hydrated during a very hot and humid day. Would definitley recommend Deb and Offroad dreaming but would suggest to future travellers they venture earlier than October.

Don't be daunted by the reviews about the drive! The driver, in particular, our driver Deb "Dundee" are an incredible wealth of knowledge. We were given so much history and knowledge on our drive in, that the drive is needed to learn as much as we can. There is a fantastic stop on the way out with some morning tea and then we arrived at the dry season location Ubirr. WOW what an experience, again made all the more immersive with the knowledge only a guide can bring. This would not have been the experience it was for us without Deb. A wonderfully refreshing and healthy lunch then onto the river for a cruise with locals. Our boat captain was Tyrone and what a treasure he is. Witty, funny and engaging and we are blessed to have been welcomed to his country. SO many crocodiles and the river guides are so willing to share knowledge and answer questions. I will never forget this tour and the experience and highly recommend this company for any tours they may offer. Cheers guys Loretta and Danny xxx

The tour guide Di was fantastic, and as she has a personal relationship with many different Aboriginals she was able to give our group real information which i found very interesting. I like that the group was small (less than 25 people) as it was more personalized. Ubirr was absolutely incredible, mind you there is a fair bit of rocks to climb so if you are not so fit then this may be challenging for you. I'm 31, relatively fit, and climbed up wearing thongs/flip flops and found it to be okay.

Excellent tour, very unique experience. Tour guide had excellent knowledge and there were lots of learn.
I would recommend the company consider blocking out the two seats which have a raised floor due to the wheel of the bus, for a 5+ hour bus trip, this is really uncomfortable for a grown adult.

Is this tour suitable for 4yr olds?

It's a very long day and many hours spent in a bus. A child could sleep in the bus I suppose if they were tired. Depending on the child, I'd suggest some 4yr olds could manage and others it would be hopeless!

Hi - I've seen that Gunlom Falls is currently closed. It doesn't look like this tour goes there, but I just wanted to confirm/check if that was a part of this tour?

My Family and I are only there for 1 day and we actually fly to Bali at 10:50pm that night. Do u think we would have time to do one of these tours? And will the tour company drop us off at the airport?
Aussie Traveller
Queensland, Australia101 contributions
Yes you would have plenty of time to do these trips, they drop you back approx. 6 or 6.30pm and I am sure they would drop you at the airport, we dropped people at Casuarina which is further. It would be a wonderful way to get a taste of Kakadu. Luggage could be an issue though as not sure how much room they would have available for you on the bus. Perhaps it could be left somewhere and collected later. Enjoy your stop over and LOVE KAKADU!

Can you swim at any of the spots we go to see?
Aussie Traveller
Queensland, Australia101 contributions
Unfortunately this is not an option for this tour, you will be viewing a lot of crocodiles, fauna and flora though. This is not a swimming tour and to be honest it is far better than any swimming in the region. I guess you don't need to swim in this environment to enjoy its absolutely amazing effects. (top of Gunlom is the absolute best spot for a swim if you can make the trip up the steep incline you get to swim and enjoy the spectacular view)
