The worst trip we have experienced. The places were delightful but the tour guide/driver was appalling.
Katherine Gorge Cruise & Edith Falls Day Trip Escape from Darwin feedback The worst trip we have experienced. The places were delightful but the tour guide/driver was appalling. We were picked-up at 6.20am was from a site six blocks from the hotel. No confirmation received prior to the trip. No good morning or his name given as being ticked off the list/told no first toilet break as we were in a hurry/as we are boarding. The “accredited Outback driver/guide” hardly spoke a word, he spent most of his time trying to get the radio/music to play and when he did, it was poor quality and very poor choice. We asked for some explanation of the trip. There was no opportunity to purchase breakfast or lunch “Meals not included. Guests will have an opportunity to support locals and buy lunch along the way.” We were taken to servos/service stations where there was only deep-fried foods and highly processed foods. So, no food for us. At Edith Falls the driver had his shirt off, uncertain if he had been swimming and did not put it on until our next stop. Late in the afternoon he offered us two muesli bars and said “ I hope these aren’t too processed for you, as we had not eaten all day. Katerine Gorge was amazing and the Aboriginal guide Brandon was excellent.

      Great introduction to Kakadu
It's a long drive to see the sights and nothing much to see along the way but Tom our guide provided a running commentary that made the trip interesting. On our trip there were 2 major sites. The first was Fogg Dam where we sit did see brolga's jabiru buffalo and pigs but not many birds. They were a long way off and I was fortunate to have a telephoto lens to view them. On 2 Ubirr which was the highlight with impressive aboriginal paintings and great views from the summit of grasslands and ranges. We also saw several crocodiles and were lucky to visit a pub that had crocodile feeding. Tom was great but I think experience could be complemented by an aboriginal guide particularly at Ubirr.

Great day out from Darwin to Catherine Gorge
A great full day out. This is a hi speed trip with a lot to pack into a day. Its a long trip on a small coach but worth it. Driver was excellent and factual all day. The Gorge was impressive and worth a visit the guide on the boat was informative a witty, a great combination.

5-day tour in NT with the best guide you could ask for, Elliott
I was on a 5-day tour with my family as the first part of our journey in Australia. It really became hard to top after that. From the first stop with the crocodile cruise, I was sold. The tour in Ubirr was absolutely fantastic. We saw a lot of rock art, and our very knowledgeable guide, Elliott, told us all about it. The sunset was beautiful, but the timing was too touristy for my taste. Jim Jim Falls was a highlight, and the camp in Jabiru was with good service. The trip continued to Katherine Gorge, more waterfalls, and Katherine Hot Springs. Then a new camp, which also did not disappoint! Bonfire and lots of fun. On the last day, we drove towards Litchfield, where we stopped to see termite mounds, and the last stop was Wangi Falls. The best way to round off the trip. Despite many kilometers driven on this trip, it didn't feel so long, as the trip was perfectly planned with small stops and visits to cultural centers along the way. I can highly recommend this trip, and it definitely wouldn't have been the same without Elliott. He is extremely respectful of the land, and he informed and taught us a lot about native life, nature, and the country. Even with a full bus, he always lifted the mood with stories and jokes, good music, and high spirits. Elliott is the most passionated and dedicated guide I've ever had, and I highly recommend him. He arranged the trip to fit our group perfectly, and he really made sure that everyone was comfortable all the time. So, thanks to him for making my journey in Australia truly special!!

      breathtaking!
It's an epic day but well worth it to see Katherine Gorge. Breathtaking! My only feedback to the tour guide is to be less flippant with comments such as: 'oh well, if they're late we'll just leave', and then not seeming to check numbers very thoroughly. I was previously been left behind in regional WA by a thoughtless tour guide who decided to leave five minutes before the agreed time and didn't do a proper head count. When we book these tours we put our trust in the tour guide to look after us - particularly in remote locations where there isn't always wifi or a way to get home! I know NT has a very relaxed approach, but there are some things we shouldn't be relaxed about.

The boat cruise was awesome but everything else was extremely rushed
Whilst our tour guide Naomi was very knowledgeable and informative, and the boat cruise along the river was spectacular, the rest of the trip was very rushed. There was nowhere to buy food at the national park (other than chips or ice cream), so we stopped along the way at a petrol station at 8am and was told we had 10 minutes to go to the bathroom and buy our lunch there (pre made sandwhiches) before getting back on the bus. Once we completed our boat cruise at Katherine Gorge we were told we had 15 minutes to eat lunch before being rushed off to Edith Falls. No time to relax while eating lunch and take in the serenity or to see the visitor centre, explore any of the bush walks or take photos from vantage points above the gorge as described in the tour description and shown in photos. When we got to Edith falls we only had 1 hour which included getting changed into and out of swimming gear and exploring the gift shop before needing to get back on the bus. Again, tour description said we would be there for 3 hours but this was certainly not the case. No time to explore the upper pools or walking trails at Edith falls as shown and described. To summarise it was 9 hours of driving in a small bus with no wifi for a 2 hour boat cruise and a 15 minute swim at Edith falls. I don’t feel like we got to spend enough time at each place or do everything that was described. We physically couldn’t have done it any quicker to allow for the guided walks or anything. The swimming spots at Litchfield are much better (and 3 hours each way closer to Darwin) than Edith Falls and looking back it would have been better to spend the full day at Katherine Gorge exploring the bush trails and swimming instead of being rushed off. Although we did experience some delays due to roadworks, it would’ve only accumulated to 15 minutes max and still wouldn’t have allowed for more time if there were no delays. The time limits described at each place includes the travel time, not actual time at each location. I’m glad I experienced it but for costing over $300, next time I think I will do it myself at my own pace so I can experience everything.

      Kakadu and Litchfield
I spent a great 3 days with our guide Eliott who was a wealth of knowledge on the First Nations Culture. We had a good group of 14 people. The tour reached places I would not have gone by myself like Jim Jim Falls. Camp accommodation was comfortable and clean, with hot showers

Snapshot of the beautiful top end
Really enjoyed this small group tour. 10 was the perfect number to travel with. Elliott - " the outback guide" showed and shared his passion and knowledge of the Territory. His indigenous knowledge about the bush included food, medicine and rock art. We had busy days seeing many different sights and got to swim in some beautiful waterholes . The campsites were comfortable. The nights included some wonderful camp-fires and amazing sunsets. The tour show cased some of the best of the top end. Would definitely recommend this tour .

      Great small group trip
This 4 day trip was so enjoyable, well paced and organised. Our guide, Becs, was knowledgeable and sensitive to First Nation culture as well as being a good, safety conscious driver and all round fun person. We saw an abundance of wildlife, learnt from local First Nation guides and ate well.

Good to visit but long day
The trip to Fogg Dam and Kakadu was well worth it. The sites and information provided was excellent and Rachel our driver was very knowledgeable and friendly. The only down side is the length of time on the road particularly on the way home

Excellent day trip! Peter was a fantastic tour guide. We did a day trip to Litchfield on August 4th. He was never in a rush and gave us lots of stops and squeezed as much into the day as he could. He was full of information and gave us heaps of very interesting tips, right down to where to sit and get the best view on the Crocodile cruise and recommending the lovely Mango ice cream they sold at the Berry Springs pub on the way home (sold out, so missed out unfortunately). Peter was entertaining and we loved that he joined in swimming and walking / socializing with everyone on the tour. He even returned to our hotel to return the sneakers I left on the bus! Will definitely tour with Peter from Autopia Tours if we come back again.

We had a great day with our guides Jay and Paul. Swims at Florence Falls and Buley Rockhole were amazing, we wish we could have spent a bit more time there. Wangi Falls looked great but we couldn't swim there due to crocodiles. Regarding crocodiles, the optional crocodile jumping tour is definitely worth the extra money. You also definitely need at least 2 liters of water so please bring a big bottle as requested. You'll be able to purchase more drinks at various stops throughout the day. Some improvements for the initerary: please mention that there are changing facilities at the swim stops, that's nice to know in advance. Also, be aware that if you choose the optional crocodile cruise, it will replace the Fogg Dam birdwatching stop. That wasn't clear to me, I thought it was an additional thing. Nevertheless, choose the crocodile cruise! Overall it was a great day which covers all the highlights of Litchfield.

A relaxed, engaging and personal trip. Despite being wet season the tour was full with a big mix of people, 20 in total.
We knew we wouldn’t be able to swim due to heavy rainfall but we did benefit from the waterfalls being in full force and the area being very green. We had limited views on one stop because of the conditions so Tim put an extra waterfall stop in.
Tim was really informative and is clearly passionate and knowledgeable about the area, and Australia.
There were plenty of toilets stops and no long stints on the bus. The bus was comfortable and air conditioned. Ice box provided to put lunch in although the first stop was a nice cafe which sold lovely looking rolls and good coffee.

Very well run tour. Lee the guide did a great job, natural story teller and made the road trips enjoyable. He’s a wealth of info. Safe driver, read the group well. Highly recommended. Croc jumping is a bit dependent on how the crocs feel that day but enjoyable if never seen them in natural habitat. I suggest actually swimming to kill time at the falls otherwise it’s hanging around for about an hour and can get tiring if warm day.

The day trip to Litchfield National Park combined with the Croc jumping segment on the Adelaide River yesterday (7/10/2022) with Lee was a brilliant experience. We found the Croc jumping segment most informative and thorougly enjoyable. Thereafter the rest of the day spent in the Litchfield National Park was likewise very informative and the swimming was excellent.
Lee was outstanding in making the day absolutely enjoyable for us. His in-depth knowledge of, not only the NT, but most of Australia as well as global issues was incredible. We were most impressed by his geographical, historical and environmental scientific knowledge. An incredibly interesting travel guide to listen to.
Lee was also very entertaining and generally went out of his way to make the day a comfortable and fun day for us.

This was a fantastic day trip. We had Becs as our guide, who was engaging, informative and fun. Fogg Dam put on a show for us with all the wildlife and Litchfield national parks swimming holes were stunning.
I’m gluten and dairy free so took some food with me which was good as the stop at Bachelor didn’t have anything suitable to buy for lunch which is fine as that’s what I’d expected.
I would highly recommend this tour.

A fantastic tour with a small group. Paul was an outstanding guide, very accomodating and knowledgeable whilst catering for everyone’s needs. Fogg Dam was spectacular followed by great scenery, waterfalls and swimming in the National Park. A quick stop at the Berry Springs Tavern for a cleansing ale was a great finish to a fantastic day. Do yourself a favour and get on this tour.

A truly awesome day seeing the sights of Litchfield. Tiff is new to the NT but was an absolute superstar, sharing plenty of insight into the area and being a sensational guide. All of the stops are well spaced out and good lengths of time so you never felt rushed. The jumping croc tour is a must! It will leave you with a grin ear to ear. The food stop at Lil Rippers in Batchelor was good, food easy to purchase and the staff there were friendly. Buley Rockpool and Florence Falls were amazing spots to have a swim, and Wangi Falls spectacular to view (couldn't swim due to a croc in the area). Overall couldn't fault the day, thanks Autopia!

Great tour. Andrea was an excellent guide telling us lots of facts about the history and the wildlife of the area with an enthusiasm that is infectious. It made the drive very enjoyable particularly as a solo traveller. I very much enjoyed bird spotting at fogg dam and swimming at the two water holes they were absolutely beautiful (worth it despite the crowds) . Lunch not supplied but the lunch stop sells great sandwiches. Definitely recommend this tour. It's a bit rushed in that you don't get to stay in any one place for long but that's inevitable on a tour and I felt like we got to see all the highlights so maybe one day I can go back and enjoy my favourite spots. I also might not have felt safe to swim without going on a tour and having the knowledge and information of the guide telling me it's safe.
