With more than 1,000 years of history, there is a lot to see in Oslo. Make the most of your time in Norway's capital by cycling through the city streets on a bike tour, a great sightseeing option for travelers with limited time. With a guide and in a small group of no more than 15, you'll explore different Oslo neighborhoods while learning about the culture and history of the city.

Highlights
  • Small group means personalized attention from your guide
  • Take cycle paths that are inaccessible by tour coaches
  • Opt for an active sightseeing experience
  • Cover more ground in less time on a bike
What to expect
  • Meet your guide and travel companions in central Oslo and, after a short safety briefing, pick out your bicycle and climb aboard. Pedal down Karl Johans gate, Oslo's main city street, past the yellow-brick parliament building (Storting) and 19th-century National Theatre before weaving your way down old cobblestoned streets toward the old shipyards of Aker Bygge to admire the harbor views. Continuing onward, you'll cruise past neoclassical buildings with vibrantly decorated facades before coming across the Renaissance fortress of Akershus Castle. Enjoy a refreshing drink here (at own expense) before carrying on toward the Royal Palace, the official residence of Norway's king. Next, take a look at the intricate murals inside Oslo City Hall, as well as the room in which the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded each year. After pedaling to Frognerparken, you have some free time to take in the sights and leisurely vibe of Oslo's biggest public park, loved by locals, and to check out the numerous open-air sculptures by Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland. Refreshed, you'll then pedal back to your original departure point in central Oslo where your tour ends.

Just great - make time one afternoon in Oslo to do this!
Brilliant. So much more than I was expecting, and would not hesitate to go again!

We went “off the beaten track” which included a stop at Mathallen indoor food market (you have to try the brown cheese) and cycling alongside the river where we saw salmon jumping up the waterfalls

Hi Tom. Thanks for the nice review and I am glad you enjoyed the tour so much. You got to see Oslo at its best, in full sunshine in the autumn with the waterfalls flowing and the fish jumping! Best regards, Curtis

Great tour guide - very knowledgeable and enthusiastic! We got to see all of the main attractions and hidden gems of Oslo within the time, but didn’t feel rushed at any point. Would highly recommend to everyone wanting to explore the city 🚴‍♀️

Hi Paddy and bonjour! Thank you for the nice review and I am glad the two of you enjoyed your ride with Viking Biking. It was a fun group and I enjoyed the tour as much as you. Having such easy-going customers makes my job feel like just a few good hours on the bike :-) And a big thanks for posting some photos, as we always appeciate customers who take the extra time to share some of their pictures from the Oslo Highlights bike tour. Best regards, Curis

See the sights in just a few hours
Apr 2020
This was a really lovely way to catch the highlights of Oslo and is one of my favourite memories from my time there! It was the quiet season in Oslo in January 2020 before the pandemic got bad - I was glad they were open for tours at that time!

Thank you for the nice review from the pre-pandemic times. We always appreciate the tough tourists who take a winter tour, when the weather can be a challenge. But that often makes it memorable, as we discover the city using our winter studded tire bikes to wisk around the snow and ice with no problem. Thanks for joining! Best regards, Curtis

So much fun cycling around Oslo!
Apr 2020
Our family group of four, including a 9-year old, loved viewing Oslo through Viking Biking. We had the pleasure of biking around, by the harbor, to the palace, to the city hall, and more, with a knowledgeable and entertaining guide. We appreciated the time we were given to explore on our own. The cycling was low-key, though we did have to dodge people (in that pre-pandemic summer; I couldn't enter the correct date). We hope many others get to enjoy this opportunity in the summer of 2021. Here's to a return to Norway!

Hi Leo, Thank you for the nice review of a fun tour pre-pandemic. We really appreciate the kind words, especially during these quiet times. I am especially happy when families give us nice feedback, since I have three children of my own, including an 8-year old. So a family-friendly tour is of course very important! Best regards, Curtis

Awesome intro to Oslo!
Aug 2020
Our small group biking tour of Oslo was such a wonderful introduction to the city! I love to do biking tours during a first visit to a city, and Viking Biking let us travel extensively around the city, checking out different neighborhoods and learning hidden details about the local history and culture. Oslo is such a bike- and pedestrian-friendly place, and the Viking Biking team helped us feel safe and comfortable, and showed us a great time!

Thank you for the kind words, and we are especially happy when customers mention that they felt safe and comfortable. Part of the advantage of a guided bike tour is that the participants don't need to think about the traffic rules and other concerns but can relax and know the guide will lead them safely around the city. We really appreciate that you took the time to leave this nice review! Best regards, Curtis

Thank you Jamie for this nice review. During these quiet times of Covid, we especially appreciate the positive feed-back from customers we had before the shut-down. It is great you had such a good time on tour and we can't wait for our first post-Covid tour later this year. Best regards, Curtis

Fun & Informative
Oct 2019 • Couples
Great 3hour tour with Curtis who made it interesting, informative & fun. Stops along the way to explore where we were with tips on best views, best angles, best area to go which made the most of the time we had at each stop. Plenty of bike riding at a steady pace on good roads/tracks. Highly recommended - we had a really good time - thanks!!

Thank you so much for the kind review, and I enjoyed having the two of you on tour a few days ago. Although it is starting to get colder, the sun helped and it was a wonderful ride with nice people from all around the world! Best regards, Curtis
