    Highlight of out trip
LOVED this experience. The highlight of our trip to Norway. We even saw a moose by the side of the trail (which was apparently very rare to see). The guide was great, their attention to the animals was fantastic. I'd recommend this excursion to anyone going to Norway.

Fantastic experience- the best adventure in Tromso!
Fantastic!! Lifetime experience! Everything very well organized. If you like adventure just its must ser in Tromso. Reindeer sledding at night- very romantic, feeding- cute, excellent contact with lovely animals, very good tasty food- and friendly staff, very friendly- told as a lot about life in Arctic and about Sami culture which was the most interesting. The best part- staying in lavoo overnight, you have to wake up every 3 hours to keep fire as is getting freezing without- but…. Its adventure ! Especially if you are from the city.. forget for 1 night about barhroom - you are just with wild beautiful nature… like a dream, really. And in the morning- Soooooo beautiful and calm outside- Just us from 3 lavoo - 7 of us and mighty nature… Everywhere! Really fantastic view after cloudy, windy and snowing arctic night, unfortunately without Northern Lights, but was soooooo exciting that we did not bother( and we were able to see them following night with Hartingruten see trip anyway). Mountains ,reindeers , snow- even furtherer fjord! What you need more to be happy? Calm , very calm and freezing, lovely morning.. If you love wild beautiful nature- the trip is for you. If you like adventure. Lavoo obviously is not hotel- but you can feel inside fantastic( even keeping fire-we did it with pleasure). Lot of space for sleeping, comfortable sleeping bags ,hot drinks - in lavoo, nice atmospheric light - and with wool socks on your feet you may have very unusual and lovely night you never ever forget. The best trip in Tromso.

    Awful- shameful- cancelled nite before
An avid traveler, I have never encountered such behavior. But it should be like super takes a lot of time and effort to get to Tromso, Norway-but this company obviously only cares about their profits. Less than 24 hours before the tour, they called me to cancel. They said they did not have enough people. Had they not been so shortsighted, they would realize that customer service is number one and they should have at least informed me 48 hours before, there was a possibility that they would cancel. Word of mouth is the backbone of all businesses- and i have heard similar complaints from others regarding this company. Had they informed me with ample time (altho yhey said they always wait until 24 hrs to give themselves best chance at finding bookings to avoid cancellation, this would have given me the opportunity to find another tour company. However, they are more interested in trying to see if they can get some last minute bookings, then to try to be respectful for their customers. When I asked if she was on TripAdvisor, she purposely said she wasn’t. And then advised me against writing a bad review I would never ever use this company. There are many other Great companies in tromso. Be sure to find one. Avoid this tour company. If you want to be sure to have an experience without a last-minute cancellation in high season, when it is not possible to find other options.

Better weather cancelled the sleigh ride
As the temperature had been 2 degrees we were told the reindeer sleighing was off when we arrived to get the coach, Wettish cloudy weather also ruined our chances of the Northern Lights too! That aside our Sami guide was brilliant, feeding the reindeer was also something else. We booked through trip advisor in the UK but it was (the only thing) cheaper here! The trip is worth going on, although probably better during the day.

    Beware.. Not recommended
This tour cannot be recommended unfortunately. Having done a few tours throughout our Tromso visit, this one was by a mile the most disappointing in terms of value for money! For a hefty price of over 700 Euros for a single evening, the experience was essentially as follows: The first surprise came when we were picked up with a huge bus along with 40+ other people, so this tour is mass tourism at its best! Arriving at the location, the group was split into too, for one to walk around the property with reindeers for a mere 15 to 20min in a circle, while the others fed the reindeers - overall a rushed experience (the staff even forgot to let us change into more appropriate winter clothing, they could not get us through the program quick enough). For dinner there is nothing but a soup (it was semi-cold; many people on our table were negatively surprised by the effort but into this dinner, especially given the price charged). This was followed by a talk about Sami culture which in part was interesting but also with some strange emotional stories and the stressing the monetary hardship as if to make the group feeling better for having expensed this kind of money. The biggest disappointment was the overnight experience in the Sami tents. From the phots they appear to be positioned somewhat out in nature and not 50 meters next to the parking lot where the bus arrived earlier in the back yard of the owners house. As a positive, the tends itself were designed nicely and for us the only positive of this tour, albeit difficult to regulate the temperature. The final negative came the next morning.. the small breakfast was pre arranged (we were on time but again the few eggs available were cold already but throughout the whole breakfast period not ONE member of staff was present. In all, throughout the whole stay, we felt that the team couldnt care less, already being busy of welcoming the next big tourist bus. What we thought was a great adventure of reindeer sledging into the nature and then spending a night in a tent embedded in beautiful landscape, it turned out to be a highly impersonal experience in the owners backyard, where we felt the minimsing of expenses and maximising of turnover at every step of the way. This was not only our impression. Some of the group of overnight stayers that drove back with us in the bus shared the some disappointment with far better options in Tromso.

Tromsø Lapland is THE place for reindeer sledding in northern Norway!
The guide team was enthusiastic, kind, and generous which made the experience so special. It was truly amazing evening that I will never forget! Travelling to and from the site was easy, hassle-free, and convenient. Thank you so much for sharing your food and home with us!

    Definitely worth your time!
We thoroughly enjoyed this excursion! We saw the Northern lights while sledding-it was marvelous. Feeding the deer was fun. Our host, who is Sami, was great in explaining the history of Samis. Definitely worth it, whether you’re single, a couple, or a family with young kids.

    Cute reindeer
It was a wonderful to be feeding n playing with the reindeer. The sleigh ride was slow n we were blessed with northern lights. Only it was so dark that we couldn't see anything around us other than the reindeer pulling us. Would have been good to have a head lamp like the guide did. The meal n drinks were good n interesting sharing on the same culture, lifestyle, clothes made from reindeer etc. All in a good experience. Cant take photos though as we are moving while on the sleigh n as there is no light n its cold it was difficult to hold the camera.

    A wonderful experience
Such an excellent time, the tour left on time even though a large group was late and came by taxi later. The bus arrived and we were taken to add more layers of warm clothes and ride the reindeer sleighs. NOTE this tour is not the sleigh riding so if you book this tour and want to ride, let your guide know as soon as you arrive at the Sami camp. The sleigh ride and reindeer feeding was fun! The meal sharing experience and story time was very warm and the food was hearty. I would recommend this experience to friends .

The sled ride was exactly as you see on the website, not exciting, but a good experience anyway. Feeding the reindeer is great, just to be able to be so close to them was a thrill.
Lunch was awful, a watery brown broth with the odd bit of vegetable, really tasteless. There was fresh bread but that was it. I would rather not have bothered. The talk was also disappointing. The guide was lovely but it was mostly about traditional clothing and very little about life as a reindeer herder which was what I was hoping for. Also be prepared, they call this a Sami camp and the toilets are 'primitive'.
So, great to see reindeer but overall I was let down by this tour.

Dear Emerald, Thank you foryour balanced and honest feedback. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the sledding and had an overall positive experience. Our reindeers do their best, and so do we. We're sorry that you didn't like the soup. In case someone needs to season theirs, there is always some fresh pepper and salt available. Best, Bernhard

The experience has been really great.
We enjoy the reindeer sledding, the free interaction with the animals with competent people on our side that could explain us many things and answer to our questions.
It has been nice to enjoy the traditional food in a good place and with a Sami that told us stories about his culture.
The group was not so big (about 15 people) and we enjoy that.

What a fun day! We rode in a coach with about 40+ other people but when we arrived on the reindeer farm, we were split into two groups. The first group rode the sleds while we each got buckets to feed the reindeer. That was a delightful experience as the reindeer were very friendly and all of them had different personalities. Then, we switched it up and we got to ride the sleds. It was at a walking pace, but that made it very relaxing and we could take time to enjoy the scenery. We then all returned to the heated hut where the owner of this reindeer herd, Per, told us about the Sami culture and the reindeer. The lunch (which included reindeer stew) was excellent, and it was an incredibly educational and enjoyable day. I highly recommend going with this tour for a relaxing and fun day out.

The scenic transfer is really beautiful, as well as the views ‘on set’. The reindeer were lovely, and we were friendly welcomed. However, the ‘saami’ culture was pretty disappointing, as everything seemed a bit ‘fake’ and veeeery touristy, so not really authentic. I expected a sami village, but there were no lavvi tents and the sami lady told us more about the saami culture such as clothing etc, but no real exciting stories. It was very touristy and expensive for what you get. It’s okay for reindeer feeding and sledding, but don’t expect the real authentic sami experience.

Dear Lisabel, We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. We are sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations. Sami people are not an uncontacted tribe. There is technology, and Sami people do not live in reservations. At our camp you can see how people who work with reindeers live and work today, and during the cultural presentation you also get a glimpse into the past. Best, Bernhard

Unfortunately we were not able to go sledding due to a lack of snow. That did not spoil our visit with the reindeer and Sami Guides. After a short beautiful drive to the reserve we were met by Sami guides in their native attire. They were very welcoming and made us feel comfortable immediately. Walking among the reindeer herd was very exciting. The information about the Sami way of life and the reindeer herding was excellent. It was the highlight of our cruise to Norway. No one should miss it.

Great fun despite lack of snow. It felt unfair to knock a point off for not being able to sledge! It was mild for the time of year and the herders are much concerned with climate change here as it has a profound impact. Feeding them is huge fun if you are confident around animals as they do barge you and you have to dodge the antlers! Very interesting chat about the Sami culture and tasty reindeer stew. I would thoroughly recommend.

Hello and thank you very much for your honest review! The reindeer are indeed an exciting animal, even though we have quite tame ones they are still somewhat mischievous sometimes... :) It was really a shame that we couldn't to sledding due to the snow, but we hope you get the opportunity to go back to Tromsø some day and come try the oldest form of transportation here in the North! We and our reindeer will for sure be ready. :)

First of all, we want to thank all Tromsø Lapland staff that today have been with us during the excursion.
Reindeer sleeding has been an incredible adventure. Furthermore, feeding the animals afterwards has been an experience that we will not easily forget.
Additionally, the sami dish that was prepared for us was delicious. We want to especially thank our Sami guide, Niels, for that brief master class about Sami culture.
Guys, thank you for looking after those reindeers and spread Sami culture.

We did this tour on the 28th of January 2022. It was a great honor to get to know the rich Sami culture (e.g.Sami's spiritual connection with nature, and their sustainable lifestyle) and how they preserve their own culture. The Reindeers sledding experience was great and the reindeers there were friendly and lovely. They were well taken care of in this Sami camp. A thumb up to Tromso Lapland and the guides working in this reindeer camp.

We had a great afternoon with the Sami people and the reindeer. We were surprised by how eager the reindeer were in interacting with the people. The lavu tent was very warm and comfortable, and the lunch was delicious. It was the best reindeer stew we had while in Tromso. I do think the price was slightly on the high end, but most things in Norway are.
