Quite an exciting and thrilling snowmobile adventure. The host and guide was really nice, patient, providing all the necessary details how to handle the snowmobile and paying attention to the whole group of 19 people during the trip. Drove 1.5 hrs through the amazing scenery of Lyngen Alps. At the mid of the trip we had a hot chocolate break. After the trip we were served an excellent fish soup and homenade cinnamon cake which was absolutely delicious. Worth every penny. Recommend!

We went with Tromoso Safari snowmobil for 2 reasons: our kids could go (age 8&7) and it included a ferry ride.
It was my son's 7th birthday on the tour day and he had an absolut blast, as did we all.
We took a coach for 45 mins (shorter than other trips) then a 10 min ferry ride with incredible views and then a 5 min walk. We got changed and was taught how to drive, which was fairly easy.
We then stopped off and had many opportunities to stop and take photos. The guides were amazing with our kids.
We stopped at a hut with an open fire and hot chocolate.
We then returned back to base. While the group changed back to their clothes, the guides let my kids drive a snowmobile, with him ensuring their safety at every second. He created a path and stayed on with them and I gave him permission and they were loving every second. Very lucky!
Then it was lunch - fish or carrot soup, bread, coffee or tea, and a cake. Yum!
We then returned back via ferry then coach.
Loved every second and highly recommend. We were the only ones with kids this time, the others were all adults.

After having "gone to the dogs" ;-) with Tromso Safari last week, I let myself be tempted and booked another, because I credit this operator with one of the best days of my life (precisely the one I spent dog-sledding, and about which I also posted a review). This excursion was also well worth it. The landscape was similar to the stunning environment where you travel with the dogs, and while the weather wasn`t quite as perfect, the driving experience was exhilarating, too, and definitely very, very different from that of a dog musher. I got to drive all the time because my passenger had no driving licence, which was a plus for me. The snowmobiles are extremely easy and perfectly safe to start and stop, and the driving feeling is addictive. While not being difficult to drive at all, your challenge is to acquire the right feel for the steering, which comes across as a mixture of paddling a kayak and driving a moped. Gliding on snow conveys to an extent a floating sensation, and the reaction of the vehicle to steering commands has similarities to sailing a small vessel, but with less pronounced delay and closer control. The great thing about it is that, even if during the first 15 minutes you are still learning the ropes and may be a little imprecise, that causes no harm, given that you have mostly only snow left and right of your tracks. Racing through the endless whiteness is an empowering sensation of boundless freedom, and great fun. Highly recommended to everyone. Enjoy!

Hello again! We are sooo happy to hear that you had yet another positive experience with us. Our Snowmobile Safari is definitely a different experience than the Husky Safari, but totally thrilling! Thank you very much for your kind words and for the precise description (again! ) of what this tour entails, it will definitely help our future guests! It means the world to us that you had another life experience right next to our Lyngen Alps! Hope to see you again soon ;)

This trip was great from start to finish. You go on a coach journey for around an hour from Tromso. There’s a 20 minute ferry (it’s a massive ferry, don’t worry about being boat sick, it carries lorries and cars etc.) The ferry arrives and you start your adventure. The snowmobiles are quite easy to drive and steer and you can decide how cautious you want to be (my boyfriend decided to hit 80km an hour). There are regular stops and hot chocolate breaks on the route and the views of the mountains are amazing. We stopped and stroked some huskies doing dog sledding at the same time as our snowmobiling. You’re served fish soup (you can request vegetable) and amazing cinnamon cake in a lovely glass-fronted restaurant after the tour before your journey back to Tromso. The guides were lovely (the lady who took us from Tromso and the lady and Ludwig who we met up with when we got off the ferry). A wonderful day out!

After having done a snowmobile tour already I had high hopes for this one! And although I had a good day it’s definitely not on the same level as one I had done previous! You are picked up from the radisson Blu hotel and then we dropped a group off along the way to another tour.. then made our way the the ferry where we have to get off the bus and walk on to the ferry (very close) after the 15/20 minute ferry you walk off the other side and walk the rest of the way 5-10min after a safety talk and change in to winter overall you are off! It say you will be on the snowmobile for 1-1 1/2 hours?? This is not even close more like 30 mins total ride time you seem to spend more time stopping and standing around... that’s ok for some pictures and some amazing ones at that but not the amount of time we was standing there! But like I said I did have a good day and finished off with a very nice fish soup before walking back the the ferry!

Feb 2018 • Friends
Picked up at 8.00 in the morning
75 minutes on a bus
15 minutes on a ferry
5 minute walk
A briefing
40 minutes and 10 miles on a snowmobile which was so slow and booring
But they did provide a bit of entertainment with a couple of dog tricks?
Got back at 4.30
So 8 & 1/2 hours to do 40 minutes on a skido and only got any speed for a max of 2 minutes
Oh yea and the joy of spending over £350 for two
Could of got a weekend away for that

The whole thing is they will allow you to try the snowmobile, a boring drive, that's it.
You will be asked to follow the guide in the front where ever she goes, you are not allowed to drive free out of the track, you will be guided exactly like a cattle with a leader.
You are not allowed to speed up above 20km/hr, if you did, another rude guide will stop you and say if you do it again, i won't allow you to drive again.
What's the point of this ridiculously expensive tour if you won't drive as you want?!!
Stay away from this company.

We did snowmobile tour on 24feb as a family of four.
The tour itself was nice however not well organised. At the beginning they take you by bus to the ferry . After 10 mins ferry ride you arrive at the venue. On boarding the bus, we were told to take out the jackets etc as it was very hot in the bus so we did. After about an hours ride, suddenly the bus stopped and without any warning, we were told to get out of the bus to catch the ferry which was leaving in one minute. We were totally caught off guard. As a family with 2 kids, we somehow managed to grab our coats etc and run for the ferry which was almost leaving in seconds. Just as we boarded the ferry, we realized that we left our bag full of woolens ( scarf, gloves etc) on the bus. I really wish the bus driver had warned us atleast 5 mins in advace. Immediately we called tromso safari. We were told not to worry and that our lost bag can be picked up from their office the same evening. We went to their office almost everyday of our stay to enquire about the lost bag However till today we have not heard anything. No one is interested in helping us. Yesterday was our last day in Tromso. We spent the rest of our stay without our stuff. I feel very disappointed as the staff does not seem to be interested in helping others.

Hello there, First of all, thank you so much for your feedback. We highly appreciate the constructive criticism as this allows us to improve our service. However, we would like to clarify a couple of details that we consider are not completely accurate. We are very sorry for the stress that implies running around for transportation, especially since you are a family with children. We understand your disappointment. Nevertheless, we would like to tell you that we handle lost and found items every day; we have guidelines for these cases, which we followed with you too. I personally recall to have ringed the bus company that works with us, multiple times, and unfortunately, they didn’t find your bag at that time. I left them the message to send it over to us if they found it. But nothing has arrived yet. My colleagues called as well, before and after I did. And as we also explained face-to-face to you, we use several busses, which are checked for lost property at the end of the day. When our drivers find something, they usually bring it back to us here by our desk. Most of the time, our guests are reunited with their belongings, and sometimes we even send them over by mail. We therefore strongly believe that we did everything in our power to help you to find your bag. Nonetheless our efforts were not enough this time. We apologize again and we hope that you managed to enjoy your trip, and the rest of your stay here in Tromsø. Kind regards, Milly

The pickup point was at the harbor and the bus drive was about 1:20 with additional 10 minutes on the ferry. Afterwards our guide picked us up and we had to walk round about 500m to the start point. There they provided a jumpsuit, helmet, gloves, ski mask as well as boots. Afterwards we got an introduction to the snow mobile how to start, how the heating works for the fingers for the driver & the co-driver as well as the emergency brake. Now that we were familiar with the “beast” we gut driven to the starting point where all the snow mobiles were parked in line. The assigned us in pairs the snow mobiles and the ride began. Contra ity to what we expected we drove much faster than 20 km/h. Tops it was something about 70-80. That was faaaaaast but it was amazing. The speed, the landscape and the freedom were unspeakable. I would definitely recommend this tour and everyone can do it even without experience in quad or motor cycle or anything similar. But it takes up your full concentration to stay on track. Check it out :) it’s full adrenaline ☺

THank you for your good feedback and a fantastic description for our Lyngen Snowmobile Safari. ALthough, we focus more on this being a scenic tour, it certainly also can be time for a bit of speed and a aderinalin rush when the conditions allow. We are so pleased that you had such a good time in Lyngen. Thanks again for letting us know. We hope to see you back again in Tromsø. Arctic regards, Oda (Tromsø Safari)

This tour was lots of fun! It was very cold and it was snowing, but even so we enjoyed ourselves big time riding the snowmobiles. You learn very quickly and then you get to ride through amazing landscapes protected by the clothes and equipment they give you. The guides were great and so was the food. We really recommend this experience!
