About the operator

- nabilaQ2614IC0 contributionsHighly recommend this tourA very informative tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and explained everything very nicely. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who plans on visiting Mdina and Rabat. I believe without the tour we wouldn't have appreciated Mdina and Rabat properly.Written December 4, 2024
- sanjaynayar0 contributionsGreat way to see VallettaFantastic tour and great way to see the city and get to know things we wouldn’t have known just wandering ourselves. Nadine was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and the tour was well paced hitting all the major stops.Written December 1, 2024
- KevinJ4660 contributionsGreat time following the red umbrella!Had visited the Tourist Information office and found this tour was about to start so raced over and were able to join Angela's group on a lovely bright morning. The walking tour covered a lot of ground but with many stops and gave very useful information about the various key sites of interest and of the history of Valletta and Malta generally. Angela was also able to share interesting facts because of her wealth of experience and personal interests. She was also very humorous! We enjoyed our time so much we stayed for the optional cathedral visit and the following day joined her for the Rabat/Mdina tour (which was great too!). We would say this was the most enjoyable walking tour of a city we have ever done, anywhere in the world. Many thanks Angela - keep walking!!Written November 30, 2024

- orchid6250 contributionsFabulous city tour with EarnestI took the Valletta city walking tour with Earnest this week. He is a fabulous guide- his presentation was a good balance between the fascinating history of Valletta and interesting facts. His speaking style and English was very easy to follow. He used a mic and we all had headphones, so we could hear everything. He was very helpful with recommendations for other things/places to visit. I learned a lot, which increased my appreciation of Malta.Written October 18, 2024

Our guide Nadine was really excellent, providing great insight into the history, architecture & stories of Malta. Paid £39.95 for an adult to try out some local meals ( which I was familiar with already) and have some insight of the local street food and culture.
Our guide was very informative. I did appreciate the history and urban legends while walking around Valletta.
For the food we received I think it is overpriced.
Now before you continue reading my review you must understand that I appreciate the southern european straightforward way of talking. What I don’t appreciate is body shaming!
At a point of the tour we arrive to a hook where the story goes that english sailors used to pass through to spend time. Maybe malnourished sailors. At this point the guide asks if anyone wants to try. No one interested as we are all adults and clearly none of us would fit through. Than the guide begins one by one analyzing who would fit through and who wouldn’t pulling faces and making comments.
I did not ask for this and really do not appreciate it. Left after this.
I know it’s a different culture but we are not friendly like that to be measuring each others body up!
Lady please have a good look in the mirror and have a word with yourself. Working with tourists from all over the world you should understand the cultural differences and try and respect them.

We will first answer your comment that the tour was overpriced. How can you judge if you left a long way before the tour was finished? You just sampled around 20% of the food, this leaves you in no position to give an honest review re value because you did not experience it. If you read the reviews of clients who stay on to the end, as it is generally the case, the quality and amount of food on this tour is excellent value for money.
We did speak to the guide in question on this tour, she thanks you for your positive comments on her. She was saddened that you did not understand her humour and took it as an offence. When you left the tour early, you told her that it was because it was too much walking for your young son. It’s a pity that you did not tell her the real reason, she would have duly apologized for the misunderstanding and would have turned the joke on her. She does not need to have a look in the mirror, she knows that there is no chance in the world that she could ever wriggle her way through the hook.
Best regards

This food tour is an absolute must when visiting Valletta. Ernest was incredible and very knowledgeable, always more than happy to answer any and all questions, food-related or not. It is incredible good value, you get multiple mini meals and drinks over 3-4 hours with a 3-course lunch at the end, combined with a walking tour across the city where the guide would provide very interesting information about the history behind Malta's most unique food and drink items. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend this walking tour of Valletta with Marisa and her incredible assistant Lisa. This is the best way to learn and enjoy a new city; through learning about history and culture through food. This was a great value for the price and all the food was really tasty!

This was a wonderful 3+ hour walking food tour of Valletta, starting with pastizzi filled with peas at a cafe across the ruins of the opera house. This was followed by excellent maltese coffee and a honey almond pastry at a small cafe, and later by a savory tuna sandwich on maltese bread. For the grand finale, a three course meal consisting of an antipasto platter with goat cheese, bread, olives, and sausage; a fish/potato fritter and ravioli with ricotta and a fresh tomato sauce; and a pastry filled with a fig paste for dessert. In between the food stops, we learned about the history and sights of Valletta from our gracious and knowledgeable guide, Marissa. We particularly enjoyed the spectacular views of the harbor from the Upper Barrakka Gardens. A fun activity at a very reasonable price!

What a lovely tour! Our guide was Ernesto and the tour was extremely informative without being rushed or stressful! We found some lovely restaurants and cafes and were treated to much more food than expected (tip: don’t make our mistake by eating breakfast - you get so much food on the tour). The horse specialty at the end was fabulous and we loved the tuna sandwich at Grano cafe - very much recommend this place!

This food tour was great, I learned a lot about the local food scene, as well as some really interesting history about Valletta. The guide was excellent, we were given little radios and ear buds in order to be able to hear the guide while walking through the busy streets. I liked the variety of foods on this tour. Overall I thought it was a good experience and am glad I did it.

An absolutely brilliant tour. Don’t be put off by the length, it was at a moderate pace with lots of stop offs and included lunch.
I would recommend doing this tour at the beginning of your holiday. Valletta is very small but this tour will also help you to get your bearings.
We started near the meeting point sampling pastizzi at a local cafe, a short walk through town,( our guide explaining various buildings and interesting facts) and we went to a small coffee shop for traditional Maltese coffee followed by an option to try it with aniseed spirit ! This was accompanied with a piece of honey ring. Another walk and we tried fritira ( Maltese sandwich) and Minnie the local soft drink.
We walked past more places and our guide spotted some seasonal fruits from a greengrocer when she spotted them, and gave us some to try totally unplanned but they’d just come in season.
We walked to the food hall and had tables reserved upstairs where we had Broad bean dip ( tastes more like a hummus), goats cheese in black pepper and local crackers followed by either horse meat or cheese ravioli and a date dessert.
Excellent value for money, we met some lovely people including our guide.

The guide dealt perfectly with the rain and blustery conditions, and so the poor weather did not impact at all on the quality of the tour. She presented a thorough and in-depth explanation of the cultural aspects ,of the city of Valletta, the people, its history and of course the amazing street food, of which there was more than enough to eat and drink. In addition many of the facts were illustrated by means of pictures, often showing the old and the new. The guide , Marisa, had a bubbly personality, and made sure that every person in the group had their needs met.
We thoroughly recommend this tour, at any time of the year. Remember it does rain in Malta in the Winter and other times, so do check the weather forecast and bring along some waterproofs if necessary.

We did a 3.5 hr tour with Maribelle this morning/afternoon and it was fantastic. She was a great presenter of the history and culture of Valletta with interesting and entertaining tidbits we would never have known otherwise. Come hungry because we tasted so much local food that we couldn’t eat the remainder of the day. Visited local vendors and eateries followed by lunch. One of the best food tours we’ve done in a long time!

We had a wonderful time on this tour, Angel our guide was so knowledgeable and taught us so much about not only Maltese food, but also the city of Valletta itself. This was one of the first things we did after we arrived in Malta, and it really helped us to understand where we were, and the significance of all the buildings around our hotel. We would highly recommend this tour.

Would it be possible for this tour to cater to a group containing vegans and a person with celiac disease?
Written August 7, 2023
If you message them they get straight back to you. I was well taken care of as I’m vegetarian, but anything else might be pushing it. It’s Maltese food after all so mainly pastizzi (pasties), pasta and filled Maltese bread.
