Overview
Sólheimajökull glacier is around 656 feet (200 meters) thick, and its icy ground makes it easy to slip if you don’t have the right equipment. This glacier walk tour not only provides a helmet, an ice axe, and crampons for you, but a guide gives instruction before setting off on Sólheimajökull, so you feel confident in your own abilities. Plus, your guide never leaves your side, leading the way the whole time.
What to Expect
Meet your guide at Sólheimajökull glacier base for this glacier walk tour. First get set up with all the equipment you’ll need while on the ice, and then listen as your guide gives some instruction and tips.

Once you and your group are ready, head out on the glacier. Follow your guide on the icy glacier, and be careful as you walk past crevasses, sinkholes, and ice ridges. Your guide fills you in on how fast the glacier has melted over the last 15 years and the reasons for this.

Your glacier walk ends back at the Sólheimajökull glacier base.

Awesome!

The guide was amazing and the walk on the glacier was a once in a lifetime opportunity! Would definitely recommend this company if you'are thinking of braving the ice. It is a moderate hike...so be prepared to get your heart rate pumping.

Great Easter attraction with super friendly guide who made the experiance less scary!

We had complete beginners in our group and Lukas made the whole experience less scary and completely enjoyable for all levels. Some of us where more advanced and he had a few 'activities' up his sleeve too!

A great experience

We did the 3-hour glacier walk with Michal, who was personable, informative and safety-focused. The actual glacier is quite a hike from the base office so I recommend the 3-hr walk for more time on the ice. Minus one star because check-in was rushed and...More
