We took a tour with Beyond Reykjavik in the Summer of 2022. Our group was 9 people ranging from age 9 to 81, including four kids under 18. Jon arranged a customized five-day itinerary for us that included Snaefellsnes, the Golden Circle, the South Coast, and the Westman Islands, and he even let us explore Reykjavik on our own (with suggestions, of course). Along the way took many stops, and each one was more incredible than the last: waterfalls, glaciers, icebergs, and Diamond Beach. etc. We hit everything you would want, and Jon had all of the pertinent information about each site. From the time he picked us up at the airport, until the time he dropped us off at the end of the week, we felt like Jon made us a part of his family, and we had the time of our lives.

Jon was fantastic. He listened to our desires during many planning discussions and recommended places and activities accordingly, for our 4 day tour. His discussions on Iceland’s history, as well as present living, brought true meaning to our visit to the beautiful country. Jon at BR Tours was so much better than those crowded busses, the van he took my family of 8 in had plenty of room, and he customized our south coast tour to spend time visiting the best sites that we wanted to see, and he knows how to beat most of the big crowds and plan your trip for the best experience.

We had an amazing trip to Iceland!! And using BR Tours really made the experience special and easy! Siggi picked us up at the airport and took us to the Blue Lagoon, gave us an overview of Reykjavik and got us settled at our Air BnB. We then spent the next 8 days with Jon travelling around the country. Our family of 5 saw amazing sights, learned about Iceland and participated in a variety of activities. We did everything from mountain biking to ATV rides to kayaking to snowmobiling! Jon did an excellent job of coordinating our itinerary without ever making us feel rushed or completely locked in to the plan. He would shift timing of stops based on our interests, who was hungry, or just how we were feeling. He kept this family of 5 happy and interested the entire time! Not always easy with 3 teenagers in tow! We would definitely recommend BR Tours and we would hire them again if we make it back to Iceland!

To avoid summer crowds and the coach buses our cruise was loading up, our group of 9 chose the South Coast private tour and it was AMAZING!!! Siggi was our driver and escorted us through an incredible itinerary of waterfalls, lush landscapes, and the beautiful basalt black sand beaches. We even added a hot dog stop, fish and chips stand, and lamb stew and cake to keep everyone satisfied throughout the day. Jon was so easy to work with in creating our itinerary and Siggi was the perfect driver for our family with his personal stories and videos to add to what we were seeing. He dropped us off at Sky Lagoon to end day 1 relaxing and then picked us up at the ship to do another half day together the next morning. I highly recommend booking a custom trip with Jon - he and Siggi will guarantee you'll have a lifetime of memories.

If you are looking for a private guide I highly recommend Jon from BR Tours Beyond Reykjavik - Private Tours Iceland. He picked us up from the airport at 6 am and took us to breakfast and then to the Blue Lagoon. He then picked us up hours later and took us to our hotel. Amazing northern lights tour that night where we were only ones in the area. We did the Golden Circle the next day and he dropped us at Sky Lagoon after. Finally we did the South Coast tour. (with hidden non bus tour stops). Yes we got lucky with the weather and northern lights but Jon was a great guide and always in a good mood. We had 8 people in a very comfortable Mercedes Sprinter van that could have held more people. Pricing was reasonable for what was offered. (got quoted much higher from other guides). He was also very responsive. And he’s a great photographer! 5 stars

This was the best trip my friends and I have ever taken. The 5 of us are in our mid 20's and we came to Iceland for a quick 3 day winter trip. We did the 3 day South Coast of Iceland Private Trip with Jon! He picked us up from the airport in an extremely comfortable VW van and was a phenomenal driver the entire trip. Jon is extremely flexible with planning your trip before arriving as well as during the tour. He knows all the best places to go to get the full experience without getting stuck in touristy spots. He made all of the accommodation bookings at phenomenal hotels. Honestly nothing could have gone better for us. There's a reason he gets such high reviews! I will be recommending him to anyone I know looking to go to Iceland!

Our experience with Jon and BR private tour was perfect from when I first contacted Jon until he dropped us off at the airport. Jon helped us craft a personalized itinerary that made it possible for us to do everything we wanted and quite a few extras without ever feeling rushed. We got to do the Golden Circle, South coast, Black Sand beach, Glacier Lagoon & Small Ice Cave Tour, Diamond Beach, Reykanes Peninsula with the new volcanic flats and so much more. Amazing experience in a beautiful country. Very knowledgeable and a lot of fun. Easy to work with and a friendly guide. We got to see waterfalls, tectonic plates, northern lights, among other wonders in nature. Jon was amazing to travel the country with. Set us up with other guides to enhance our experience. We did a 2 day trip with BR Tours and we had Arni as our guide. Dealing with Jon to make the booking was stress free and itinerary was left In his capable hands. We got to see and do so much and had the best time. Arni was very knowledgeable and took us to places not included in the itinerary which my girls absolutely loved. We would not have seen hardly as much as we did had we of gone alone. Thank you very much!!

We are a family of 4 with 2 young kids (10 and 7) and we had 2 fabulous days with Arni exploring Landmannalauger and Thorsmork. Arni was so knowledgeable about the culture and environment. He was very laid back and flexible and allowed us to explore various sights at our own pace and adapt the itinerary on the fly as needed. We can’t recommend him enough!

A trip of a lifetime with Jon! 5 days of perfection for our family of 5. From the obvious to the hidden, Jon knows everything and everyone in this country. Adaptable to the weather and the abilities of the group from 23 to 60 years old. A truly lovely person and worth every penny.

We just used Jon from BR Tours for 6 full days touring in Iceland. We were two families of 3 and I must says Jon is the absolute best guide. He knows what he’s doing and all of his recommendations were absolutely perfect. We had an incredibly memorable experience and we know it would not have been anywhere the same had we not used Jon from BR Tours. He took us to incredible off the beaten path places as well as the most popular places. The best excursions he coordinated were the zodiac tour in the glacier lagoon and the kayak tour with the icebergs. We are tough people to please but Jon exceeded our high expectations exponentially. Use him- plain and simple.

Had an excellent day tour! Weather was not the best but Jon did really make the most of it by making sure we prioritised the glaciers over waterfalls (which we wanted). Lunch stop recommendation was excellent and just no complaints except for the weather which we can’t control. Car was very comfortable and Jon was very nice and knowledgeable on all sorts of topics. Highly recommend using again!

We gave a lot of thought to what we wanted to see in Iceland so we booked four days with BR and an excellent guide, Siggi. The first day was a tour of the Golden circle where we walked between the European and North American tectonic plates, saw an erupting geyser, thermal pools, and the amazing Gulfoss falls. The second day was our best weather and we used it to go to the Snaefellsjokull peninsula where we saw amazing vistas of the peninsula, fishing villages, a hidden black pebble beach, sea cliffs, a glacier, lava fields and waterfalls, including one not visible from the road where we were able to take pictures from behind the falls. On the third and fourth days we went to the south coast. On day three we saw more amazing waterfalls, walked to a glacier and took photos under an ice bridge, saw basalt cliff formations that looked like something from a science fiction movie, walked on a black sand beach and went to a spot looking into a deep gorge with, of course, another huge waterfall. The final day we got up close to the huge Vatnajökull glacier including a boat ride on a lake at the edge of the glacier where small parts of the glacier were floating all around us, a visit (accessible by a super jeep with huge tires) to an ice cave formed by run off from the glacier where the sun shines through the ice making the whole cave shine white and blue, a visit to another black sand beach where pieces of the glacier that had washed out to sea by a river were washed back up by waves. In addition doing all of the driving, Siggi was great in arranging the trip to maximize the use of good weather days. He also explained the natural and human history of Iceland during the long drives. What we appreciated most was his ability to show us different approaches and sights that would have been impossible for us to find on our own. For example, he suggested we walk along the edge of a creek behind a 50 foot rock. It looked like nothing special from the outside. Inside was a small canyon into which a waterfall poured. There were so many more. We really enjoyed our trips with Siggi and loved the sights we saw.
