After hotel or cruise port pickup in Reykjavik, settle aboard an air-conditioned bus and travel to Iceland’s south coast, famous for its natural beauty. Head for the small village of Vik, known for its stellar sea views, and walk on the black sands of Reynisfjara beach, admiring its basalt-column cliffs. Next, continue to the Seljalandsfoss waterfall. Take in the beauty of the fall and walk behind the cascade to Skogafoss, whose waters plunge down a 197-foot (60-meter) drop. Make the most of the many photo ops as the falls and scenery promise some stunning shots. Finally, take a short walk to the glacier edge of Solheimajokull, a sublet glacier of Myrdalsjokull. The glaciers are constantly moving, and make some of Iceland’s most incredible sights. Marvel at the sizes of the glaciers before your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel or another, central location in Reykjavik.

We really enjoy our tour of South Iceland. Our tour guide, Simon (if I remember correctly) was great and very informative.

The waterfalls were amazing and Simon helped us all safely into the small cave at our first stop. Trekking the Ice Glacier at sunset was also incredible.

The wind turbulence on the bus was an experience but it was worth it to see all of the sights.

We were slightly underwhelmed by Vik and the black sand beach. We had a lunch stop here which was not great and very busy. Besides that there wasn't much to see. I'd imagine it is lovely in the summer, but not in January. Also, may have something to do with how dangerous the beach is, we decided to stay near the cafe at the beach after being told a story of some people on the tour being swept away recently resulting in a death. I understand for safety this is necessary to mention however it majorly put us off enjoying this stop. Overall, the danger was not worth what we saw and if I had the choice again I wouldn't venture out this way.

I would have given 5* however we received a call from the tour company about 10 minutes before our collection in the morning to say they had overbooked and needed us to change tours. We politely declined and thankfully got a seat on the bus. There were 6 people without seats once the bus had been filled meaning they had to switch tours. This was awful especially as people often have a time limit and busy itinerary to stick by when visiting somewhere like Iceland. It was a great tour so a shame some had to miss out due to the company unnecessarily overbooking.

I would recommend this tour, but be prepared to go elsewhere in case it is overbooked again!

Hey there, Thank you so much for taking the time to give us feedback! First we wanted to point out that we are extremely sorry about the situation with the overbooking. This is not how we usually operate. We had an extremely unfortunate circumstance that morning, someone had backed up into our bus while it was parked at our parking lot and damaged the bus. We therefore had to rent a different bus last minute and the rented bus did not have as many seats as our bus. This caused the overbooking :( Of course this is not a desirable situation and we are extremely sorry that we had to put our guests through this but it was still the better outcome to rent a bus instead of having to cancel the whole tour. We are very happy to hear though that you otherwise enjoyed the tour! We absolutely understand the 1 star you took away due to the overbooking! We hope you enjoyed your time in Iceland and will be looking forward to welcoming you back on board some other time :)

We were in Iceland for my husbands early birthday with another couple. We booked an impromptu tour of southern island to see the glaciers, water falls, and black sand beach. We had an amazing time!

Our guide Rose provided excellent information on all of the ares that we visited and shared Icelandic history and culture along the way. Our driver Michael kept us on time and safe - as the roads were a bit icy!

I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in seeing amazing sites outside of the main city.

The whole tour was absolutely brilliant. Given more than enough time to see each attraction, and each attraction was beautiful. Our tour guide Matt answered every question from every attendee with a huge amount of knowledge and did so very politely, also engaging in normal conversation and telling stories and facts from Iceland and even cracking jokes throughout the journey to each attraction. Matt also communicated in different languages, making sure everyone felt included in the tour. Another shoutout has to go to our driver Magic (probably spelt incorrectly please forgive me) as he drove smoothly through what seemed like all 4 seasons and more. I would recommend this tour to anybody staying in Iceland, and if you get Matt and Magic, I have to say you should feel very lucky. 2 absolutely great guys who made the trip just that much better than it would’ve been anyway.

This trip is great for a budget but it is very rushed, you wake up super early and spend most of the day on the bus with only very short times at each stop. You have to pick whether to go to the toilet, take a picture or stop and enjoy the view. We had to run to the bus at most stops and it can make the experience stressful. However the tour guides are great and funny, and the places you visit are amazing despite how busy they get or how short time you get to see them. I would recommend if you are on a budget as it fits in a lot of amazing locations into one day for a bit less money. If you can afford it though I would rent a car for these sites. I also recommend taking a packed lunch as the lunch stops have long queues and can be expensive.

Absolutely awful experience! Wanted to spoil our son for his 21st birthday and we were all mega excited. Arrived at Bus Stop 12 as per instructions before pick up time of 8am. As expected was very cold and icy and there were so many people/buses all over the place shouting out names of those who’d booked, was totally chaotic! I received a call telling me they were waiting for us as Bust Stop 10!!!! Anyway, they said next stop was Bus Stop 12 so we waited and waited amid the madness and nobody called our name out at any of the coaches. I called them and they said we had missed the bus and advised us to take a taxi at our expense to the bus station in order to catch-up with coach. All in all a total disaster and I will ensure I claim back my money but have a feeling they will blame us. Do not use these people.

Hey there, We are always in contact with our guests before the departure date to inform them about the pick up location and time. This is done via several emails in advance. If a pick up is missed by the guest there is sometimes an option for the guests to take a taxi on their own expenses to catch up with the bus.

We had a great day out on this tour; lots of wonderful waterfalls and sights to see. We were picked up at stop 6 on time and collected some others, then waited at a petrol station out of town for the buses to arrive for various different tours. The morning can be quite long as I think it was an hour to 90 mins from initial pick up to being on our way. We booked the small group tour which I’d recommend, a lot less people so much quicker in and out at stops. It is a long day on the coach but necessary if you want to see what Iceland has to offer. There is a 20 min walk to the glacier, it wasn’t difficult but if you have any mobility issues then it likely wouldn’t be doable in the snow. Can’t remember our drivers name but he gave some great info on the way

We booked 2 tours with BusTravel, the South Coast tour and the Northern Lights search. Both were fantastic, we managed to spot the aurora thanks to our guide Daniel and got some pretty tasty hot chocolate whilst at it! Our South Coast tour with Howser was absolutely brilliant, he was so knowledgable and very funny, and had a great rapport with the driver Tomek (sorry if I get the spelling wrong chaps!), who was amazing at navigating some pretty icy spots. It's clear how passionate BusTravels guides are about Iceland which is so nice to experience rather than just another bland tour guide droning in a microphone. Pickup point was centrally located at bus stop 12, and on the way back from the South Coast our guide and driver were kind enough to stop even nearer our accommodation. For the northern lights I would definitely recommend paying the bit extra to get picked up and dropped off nearer your hotel rather than centrally as a half hour walk minus 10 Celsius at 2am probably wouldn't be fun and I'm glad we didn't have to do it! All in all I'm super happy that we booked with BusTravel (especially with discount code!) and would 100% book with them when we next visit Iceland to see more of this beautiful country.

Who says there are no funny French people? Well me usually but Ronan, our guide and driver proved me wrong. Great day out; thanks to the ice breaker we had made buddies before we left Reykjavik and the trip was non stop entertainment with folklaw, facts and fun all day.
The tour itself was excellent, I’d recommend hiring their waterproofs in advance if you don’t have decent ones to make the best of the waterfalls and the black sand beach is the place to eat lunch (buy in advance).
The highlight is of course the Glacier walk which is very professionally run and enjoyable. My two teenage kids just voted it the best day of our week.
Only criticism? The music! It was like a teenager had put the playlist together. Justin Bieber and Boys to Men?! Sort it out.
