Overview
The Golden Circle is a must for anyone visiting Reykjavik, but a DIY trip means going guideless and navigating public buses or a rental car. This tour lets you focus on the scenery without transport or parking worries, and provides full lowdowns on the sights of Gullfoss, Thingvellir, and Geysir. A stop at Kerid crater lake, which isn't included on some similar tours, and hotel and port pickup and drop-off are included.
What to Expect
After pickup from your central Reykjavik hotel or Reykjavik cruise port, settle into your comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle with a guide and travel into Iceland’s countryside to see the Golden Circle sights.

First up is the Geysir geothermal area, an expanse of bubbling pools, vents, and geysers. Explore here and see the most active hot spring, Strokkur, steaming water 98 feet (30 meters) into the air every eight minutes.

Continue to Gullfoss, whose name means 'Golden Falls,’ and take in this stunning, tiered waterfall as it plunges 105 feet (32 meters) into the Hvita River.

From here, visit the UNESCO-listed Thingvellir National Park, home to a rift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Learn how the plates are slowly moving apart, and see their exposed ridges.

After a final stop to see the near-neon blue Kerid crater lake, your tour concludes at the original departure point.

A "Must See", Once

The Golden Circle is the iconic "day trip" from Reykjavik; you really have to do it...once. Waterfalls, geysers, a small volcanic crater and the continental plate rift, all in one day (i.e., 6-8 hours) . A very nice taste of some of what Iceland has...More

Very Good Introduction to Iceland

We signed up for the trip because of the 5-star reviews and it was worth it. The bus picked us up in front of our hotel at 8:00 am and, after making several other pick-ups, we were ready to leave at 8:30. Our tour guide,...More
