Relax while someone else drives on the journey to Jokulsarlon from Reykjavik, making only one stop along the way, to behold the lagoon’s icebergs and volcanic beaches.

Hassle-free, round-trip transportation from Reykjavik
What to expect
Your trip begins with pickup from designated bus stops and hotels in Reykjavik. Hop aboard your tour vehicle, meet your guide and small group and begin the journey toward Vik, a charming seafront village under the shadow of Myrdalsjokull glacier. See the village and basalt sea stacks. Continue toward Jokulsarlon, passing lava fields and black sand deserts. Upon arrival, visit Diamond and Crystal Beaches, where icebergs wash up during certain tidal conditions. Then, head back west toward Reykjavik, and stop at Fjadrargljufur canyon, a turf church, and Seljalandsfoss waterfall. Your guide keeps an eye out for northern lights on the return journey. Arrive back in Reykjavik and finish your tour with a drop-off at your original departure point.

Good guide, interesting program but unfortunately not punctual.
Jun 2019
Several companies offered day tours to Jokulsarlon at roughly the same prices. Gateway to Iceland offered for 19900 kronor. I chose the tour that the travel Agency only because reopen to the public Fjadrargljufur сanyon was in the program. Otherwise, I would have gone on this tour the day before. I left at night. If the tour had ended as planned, I would have caught the Direct bus to the airport, which I had already bought a ticket for. However, the minibus was already half an hour late in the morning. The clock in the bus was 20 minutes behind and I realized how much Iceland is not Germany. My hopes of making it were fading. I didn't get on the bus. The driver helped me get to Keflavik, but it cost me almost as if I went to Jokulsarlon twice. Summary. If you are not limited in time, then order a tour from them. Good guide, reliable mini-bus, interesting program (Skogafoss-Vik (without Cape Dirholey), Fjadrargljufur canyon (Wow!), Skeidararsandur glacier, awesome Jokulsarlon lagoon, Diamond Beach, Hofskirkja, Seljalandsfoss). If there is no time left, then feel free to refuse. Unfortunately, they are not punctual.

Best trip
Mar 2020 • Couples
We thought we would be tired after unsuccessfully chasing lights the previous night. Got to bed at 01:00. Woke up at 6:30 for a 14 hours tour.
The soft spoken guide tricked us.
Initially we thought he was going to put us to sleep but instead he hypnotized us! His every word was wrapped in love for Iceland. Such a great storyteller that even the weather calmed down and delivered magnificent views.
It was a perfect day

The Most Knowledgeable and Thoughtful Tour Guide on the Island
Feb 2020 • Couples
“What could ruin Iceland?”

My tour guide, Gummi of Gateway to Iceland, was extremely knowledgeable about the history, economy, folklore, and everyday life of Iceland. But I wanted to hear something different.

“I cite, from Wikipedia. GDP is $75k, 16th place in the world, real purchasing power GDP 5th in the world, GINI index 6th in the world, HDI (human development index) 2nd in the world. This is practically heaven. What would you like to change about Iceland?”

Gummi thought for a long moment, and said seriously, “Really, nothing.”

“A follow up question,” I was going for the kill now, “what could ruin it for Iceland?”

Gummi thought for a very long moment, deafening silence in the tour van, finally replied softly, “Technology.”

“O.K., should I jump off the car now?”

What ensued was a meaningful, thoughtful, global conversation on the impact of technology on the future of humanity. There were French, English, and German in the tour van, in a tight space, locked up together for twelve hours.

Gummi is super knowledgeable and thoughtful, and super considerate of his customers’ wishes, either for an impromptu stop to take a picture, or an unusual inquiry like mine. We really enjoyed the tour.

Fantastic Tour!!
Feb 2020
Gummi was our bus driver and guide. He is very knowledgeable. He told great stories. I loved diamond beach and loved lunch and dinner at Vik village. The Lagoon was spectacular!!! The waterfall was beatiful at night!! This tour was my favorite though it was long it was worth it! The only suggestion I would recommend for this tour is having a driver and a tour guide so they can share the driving. By far my favorite tour!!

Recommended; Gummi is great!
Jan 2020 • Friends
We had the chance to have the owner Gummi as our guide, a wonderful man full of knowledge and anecdotes to share.

It is a long day, that’s for sure, but the drive is smooth and the mini bus is very comfortable (wifi, charging outlets, big windows, heating etc).

We had the incredible chance to witness a polar cloud! Gummi was very considerate and made extra stops in order for us to enjoy this natural phenomenon!

Thank you for the great experience, we will definitely recommend. (:

Wonderful day!
Jan 2020 • Couples
As many of the reviews say, this is a long day but it is worth it! Gummi, our guide, was excellent. He had great stories that really added to the trip. He has been a professional driver and navigated the snowy, windy roads with great skill.
The timing worked even with the long hours of darkness as we got to the major sites with plenty of daylight except for Skogafoss which was beautifully lighted and was even more dramatic after dark.
Take a book for the drive back if you go during winter and you will have an amazing, memorable day. We highly recommend this tour. Ask for Gummi if possible.

Beautiful spots in south Iceland
Dec 2019 • Solo
I prefer small group tours because of the personal touch. This was no exception. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the geological history of Iceland, customs and all kinds of interesting facts.
The highlight for me was Glacier Lagoon and Diamond (Crystal Beach) which was the final destination before returning back to Reykjavík. Although it was a tight schedule to visit all the spots on the I tinerary, there wasn’t really any other way to do accomplish this unless it was made into a two day trip.
The scenery during the drive from and Reykjavík and back again was breath taking especially because of the snow. I love Iceland in winter and highly recommend this tour to see some of the amazing sights of Iceland.
I hope you enjoy this tour as much as I did.

Entire day out
Off the bat this is a long long day out but absolutely worth it. Gummi is a very knowledgeable guide always sharing history and events all along the journey. We were fetched at 730am and got back to the hotel around 10pm. We stopped several times along to tour including lunch and dinner. The glacier lagoon is a long way away. Diamond beach is a stunning sight. I’d recommend crampons if you’re visiting in winter. Everywhere is iced including footpaths, streets, pavements etc. I fell along with many other folks. Kids enjoyed it as well. There is wifi on the bus so kids can take iPads etc.

Jokulsarlon and the Diamond beach was amazing!
Nov 2019
The highlight of the tour was definitely glacier and it was amazing. I saw some bad reviews about Diamond beach before we went for the tour so I didn't expect much but it was really amazing.

A worthwhile experience
Nov 2019 • Couples
Though we rented our own car, we didn't feel confident to drive this distance from Reykjavik to Diamond Beach. Our Guide Gummi did not only drive us there, he had an overwhelming amount of knowledge about his country to offer. Our Hotel wasn't even in Reykjavik, but in Hafnarfjördur and luckily we got picked up directly there. Due to the suboptimal quality of the speakers, we sadly couldn't understand everything Gummi got to tell us, but we are still very happy, we booked this excellent service. We had a wonderful day on the road. Thank you for everything!
