Overview
Immerse yourself in the culinary history and practices of Greece with this 3.5-hour traditional cooking class in Athens. Tour Athens' Central Food Market to purchase produce, then head back to the kitchen with your guide to prepare dishes using the local, fresh ingredients. You'll learn along with a small group of just 15 people, which ensures an intimate atmosphere and dedicated attention from your guide.
What to Expect
A shopping trip in Athens central market is the best way to start this experience so those who have booked it will begin with the cook to head out and explore while picking up some of the ingredients for the class; you'll meet local traders, find shops, cafes and restaurants that are hidden from view but the locals have been shopping at for generations.

The class at The Greek Kitchen starts with an introduction, a chance to get to know your cook and your classmates. You will discuss the dishes you'll be making before setting to work on the task at hand: making your meal!

We are now creating our summer menu using fantastic ingredients from the local market. During your class you'll make:
An appetizer
A classic dip
A main course
A dessert

All classes include drinking water, a generous serving of local wine and a shot of local digestive liquor.

After the class relax with your meal in our yard. You'll have the opportunity to ask your cook about what to see and do in Athens while you're here!

Please bear in mind that we are a fun cooking class for people who want to make a nice meal with a local cook for a really good price so if you are looking for a Michelin star standard cooking experience you'll need to find somewhere that provides it!

Not a highlight of the day

The best part of the experience was a market tour I wish we could try a few things. The cooking class was not what we expected. The class would be good for a kid or someone who has never made a meal in his or...More

What a delight, we very much enjoyed the tour of the Greek market.

We were given the experience of putting together some very standard Greek dishes, that were excellent.

Great fun and great food

Was a lovely afternoon and a nice break from the heat. We started with a market tour and then got into the cooking. Just a small group of 3 of us plus Nikos so it was really nice.
