Madeira East Tour from Funchal

Overview
Discover the eastern landscapes of Madeira with ease on an 8-hour tour from Funchal, ideal for lovers of natural landscapes. Visit the quaint craft village of Camacha, ascend to Pico de Arieiro, Madeira’s third-highest peak, and admire the famous Laurissilva Forest, which dates back to prehistoric times. Plus, you’ll enjoy lunch in the colorful town of Santana, visit Machico, and admire panoramic views from Ponta de São Lourenço. Hotel pickup and drop-off in Funchal are included.
What to Expect

Your full-day tour begins with pickup from your Funchal hotel at 9am, when you’ll board an air-conditioned vehicle destined for eastern Madeira’s natural highlights.

After stopping in the craft village of Camacha, famous for folk dancing, you’ll ascend to the island’s third-highest mountain, Pico de Arieiro, which affords stunning island views.

The next stop is Ribeiro Frio, the starting point of a famous levada (irrigation channel) walk, where you’ll marvel at trout pools and learn about the prehistoric forest that covers Madeira.

Following lunch (own expense) in the colorful town of Santana, you’ll visit more incredible lookout points such as  Ponta de São Lourenço, and stop off at Machico before drop-off at your Funchal accommodation.

Hi. We were in a minibus - it wasn’t quite full, but about eleven people which was just right for me - enough of us for us to have a few laughs on the trip, but not so many that we were held up waiting for people.
