Meet your fellow foodies and begin your tour with a short walk to Mouraria, the medieval-style district. Get insider tips and learn the history of Portuguese cuisine from your guide. Stop at several bars and restaurants over the next few hours to sample some of Portugal’s finest specialties. Nibble on different kinds of cheeses as well as pata negra (cured meat) at an artisan shop. Taste the famous Portuguese canned sardines and pastel de nata (Portuguese custard tarts) while enjoying local wines from Porto in a traditional bar. Sample some Portuguese petiscos, or tapas, before ending with a shot of Ginjinha, a liqueur made from sour cherries.
