Our energetic host Josue picked us up at the Hard Rock Cafe and off we went to Sintra. Josue grew up in Sintra so we really got a local's perspective on this tour. Palacio Nacional da Pena itself was right out of a fairytale - even in Nov, the palace was filled with visitors but the queues were manageable and flowed without incident. Fortunately, Josue knew all of the best spots to take pictures. Several different architectural styles to see all in a single structure. A big palace with surprisingly small rooms and even smaller beds because the royals slept sitting up! They couldn't be caught lying supine like the common folks. After a tour of the palace, we had a snack in the small historical town of Sintra. Then off to Cabo da Roca which is the westernmost part of Europe and reminded us of Northern California's cold, windy and rocky coast, complete with invasive ice plants. Josue stopped along the side of the road next to a cork tree so that we could experience the feel and texture of cork in the wild. We had some time to ourselves in Cascais where it was much warmer - this is the high rent district of Portugal with expensive vacation homes on the coast. We sat down for a grilled sardine salad lunch only to learn that it's the end of the sardine season - not the best time for sardines! Will remember this for next time.

This was a fantastic trip out. Everyone said to go to Sintra before we came so we thought a guided trip would be the best way... Carlos our guide was fab and gave us loads of information about the history of Lisbon. We went to the Pena Palace first and then had some free time. Carlos then took us to a wonderful traditional Portoguese restaurant for lunch and we had free time exploring Sintra. Then a stop at the westernmost point of Europe before heading to Cascais for another explore... we wouldn't have thought to go there ourselves so it was nice to have an hour to look around. We loved that it was a nice small group and we made friends with all the lovely Americans on our trip too 😊 highly recommend this as a hassle free way to see all these fantastic places. Thanks so much!

My family and(group of 4) went on the Sintra-Cas Cais tour with Rodrigo as our tour guide. Rodrigo was very knowledgeable and a very well mannered guide, making the tour, not only informative, but very enjoyable. We toured the Pena Palace and were left to tour the town of Sintra afterwards. Rodrigo gave us insider tips on a few of the bakeries and gift shops in the area.
Next, we headed to a local restaurant named Julio’s. Here, we enjoyed our favorite meal of our Portuguese vacation! We had a 3 course meal with a few bottles of red and white wine for only 25€ and I truly recommend having the roasted lamb! After lunch, we quickly visited the western most tip of Portugal and off to the chÃc beach town of Cas Cais. Here, Rodrigo explained the allure of Cas Cais and its history of noble residents and visitors. Again, we were left to explore Cas Cais’s beach front for an hour before taking the scenic drive back to Lisbon. This day trip was well worth the costs and a great way to expand on a vacation visit to Lisbon. I highly recommend Rodrigo! He is an asset and a shining star!

Our guide Felipe was excellent. He provided explanation during the drive over to Sintra. Very knowledgeable. He inquired about previous tour experiences we had so he can meet our needs. It was worth the cost and it provided a difference view of Lisbon by travelling outside the city. Beautiful sea view, a memorable day.

We had an incredible day exploring Sintra and Cascais with our tour guide, Patricia. From the moment she picked us up (perfectly on time), she was engaging, informative and entertaining. We laughed, we sang and we explored beautiful sites. She even went above and beyond to keep our mom company when she needed to take some breaks with walking up the stairs. The description of the tour does advise there are some physical limitations so keep them in mind when booking this tour. Lots of stairs at Peña Palace but there is a mini bus up to the palace which was a welcome surprise. Patricia never made us feel rushed and was sure we got to see every bit (and more!) described in this tour. She even made our lunch reservation at a traditional Portuguese restaurant. Lunch is not included in the price, but very reasonable for all that was included with the meal, and it was delicious!! It’s an excellent way to see some very special areas of Portugal. You won’t be disappointed!

Our guide Luis was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and allowed our group plenty of time to explore after educating us on the sites. He took his time with us and was very engaging ensuring he answered all of our questions. Definitely wear comfortable walking shoes! Lots of walking uphill but more than worth the effort!!

I am a bit confused by all the positive reviews (the main reason I booked this trip), maybe we just got unlucky. To be clear, the places that we visited were stunning, especially Cabo da Roca, but the tour itself was lacking... a guide. The Pena Castle should be interesting, but we were rushed from room to room with no explanations and no time to read the descriptions. In fact, we were trying to listen to the stories other tour guides were telling to their groups. Then we were dropped off at Sintra for "free time" again with no explanations (just the info when we will be picked up). The Cabo da Roca was fine and we were provided plenty of time to take pictures and enjoy the views, but again no explanations. Finally (at the risk of sounding like a broken record), our final stop (2 hours free time in Cascais) was the same. I do hope that today was just a fluke, but cannot give this tour a good rating.

Hello. Thank you for your feedback. We try to offer the best service possible and it's always good to identify where we can get better. But for that, as it is difficult by tour username to check when and with whom you did the tour, can you please tell us the date and the name of the guide? So that we can check what happen and make all the due diligence so that it never happens again. Best regards. Hugo

The trip was very nice and I had been to both places before but this time I was with my cousin and wanted him to see these spots. There was an event at the Castle so the tour was reversed. Cascais and Sintra are both must sees from Lisbon and I highly recommend you visit. Visiting Pena Palace in Sintra without a tour would be very difficult because of the long lines and the walk up the hill so I would highly recommend booking this tour.

I enjoyed my day very much. It’s not far from Lisbon which is a bonus. I recommend that you buy your tickets for whichever palace that you will be visiting as far in advance as you can as it’s timed entry slots and they sell out very quickly. Be aware that the Pena Palace is on a VERY steep gradient. There is a shuttle bus and I would advise anyone who struggles with hills to take it. I didn’t so I don’t know the cost but it’s not much. The old part of Sintra village is all narrow alleyways and is quite quaint. This is where you can get your souvenirs.

My friend and I had an incredible time on our tour to Sintra and Cascais. Our tour guide Liliana was incredibly knowledgeable throughout the tour. She provided us with unique local recommendations that we would never have thought of. Despite tough weather conditions on our tour, she had a positive attitude and always prioritized our safety. We would highly recommend this tour, specifically with Liliana, to family and friends. Thanks Liliana for an amazing tour experience!
