We joined two additional groups for a total of 8 persons, were transported in a minivan by our driver/guide Joao, after a short coffee/shop stop we started with Fatima where he made a short explanation of the area and main spots to see and then we had about an hour to stroll around at our desire; suffice to say that Fatima for a Catholic family awakes a very strong feeling. After Fatima we went to the Batalha monastery, again, after a short explanation we were left on our own to visit the church. Nazare is a beautiful coastal town famous for its high surfing waves (none as it was not the time for it) and Obidos is a charming medieval town surrounded by walkable walls; again, we were left to explore by ourselves.

May 2022 • Friends
Met our guide at Hard Rock and went to Obidos first. Such a charming walled city! He treated us to cherry liqueur in the chocolate cup and let us roam for an hour, plenty of time.
We next went to Nazare to look at the coast. Beach was lovely and he shared stories from his childhood, which was a nice personal touch. Lunch was a disaster - new place for him and horrific service, so our guide had to help us divide the bill across 4 couples. He was a trooper, handled the situation perfectly IMO.
Next stop was Batalha, breathtaking gothic cathedral and monastery. Sadly it was closed due to the May 1 Labour day holiday, but he took us around the exterior and gave us some history.
On the way to Fatima, our guide advised that anyone who needed rosary beads should purchase in advance, so we made a stop to do so. Very thoughtful of him as a couple of women in the tour wanted to get them blesses at the shrine. The Shrine of Fatima is immense. We had an hour to explore. For the truly devout who want to attend mass, that's not enough time so you might consider not going in a tour. For most others it was sufficient.
Long day, but good mix of driving and stopping. You cover a lot of ground, and we met some nice folks in our tour.

Leonel was a great and informative guide. He was so passionate and enthused about discussing the history of Portugal and also liked answering questions. He was a joy to be with for the day. We had requested to have free time in Nazare based on our previous experience on the Sintra tour where we were taken to a formal family run restaurant outside of the main area of Sintra and lost an hour and a half of our time there. Since we were given free time in Nazare this tour went great! :) The highlight of the tour was Obidos and Fatima but it was nice to see Nazare and the other areas as well. Leonel did a great job driving and it was really a full day! For sure I thought it was worth the money.

My our today June 5th, 2021 to Fatima Nazare and Obidos was awesome. Our guide Nuno Fernandes was excellent, he was very knowledgeable, accommodating and we could tell he really loved his country and wanted to share it with us. He explained everything very clearly and he was very pleasant to listen to. One of our tour participants was having back pain, and instead of leaving us at the Hard Rock Cafe as the scheduled pick up and drop off area he was kind enough to drop her at the hotel she was staying at the Mundial. If you want an enjoyable trip with a great guide ask for this young man Nuno Fernandes. The tour was with local operator ( Inside Lisbon ) they were very good, reconfirmed everything and if you send them a text, they reply pretty quick. On a scale of 1-10 I give them a 10 Thank you for a wonderful day Odete Cardoso, San Diego CA

Not my favorite trip. The driver/guide was nice and helpful, but a couple of issues came up. The tour was sold as an English-language tour, but in reality, the group included English, Italian, and Portuguese speakers. The guide was fluent in each language, but the mix/match of people hampered the normal dialogue in the van and walking around. A great tour provides extra insights beyond what you can find in a tour book and sometimes stops at particularly good photo points. The tour didn't provide anything special. The van was ok but they maxed out the seats, making it a bit uncomfortable. With the language issues and the space considerations, it is possible the company made a 'business decision' to combine two groups into a single tour.

Excellent visit to the places mentioned, really informative information by the lady tour guide/driver Mar.
Unfortunately her microphone wasn’t working properly, so those in the middle and back couldn’t hear her.

Came back at 7pm, due to traffic going to Fatima.
The lunch visit was only 1 hour 10 mins so a bit rushed, and I would suggest a 30 minute stop at the factory outlet to buy Fatima items is taken off the agenda, as people can buy from the Cathedral itself if they wish to and it made it a rush due to that .

But would recommend

Our guide was Leonel Rodriguez. It was a full van (8 pax) and it was sunny! We started with Fatima where Leonel took us inside, explained what is which, which is where, etc and then gave us an hour's freetime. After that we went to Nazare for some views and beach. We had lunch there on our own cost - it was alright with fresh fish options. Then we went to Obidos and had ginjinha in chocolate cup here. A couple climbed on the walls and walked around the entire town ramparts. There was a opera duo at the gate with excellent singing skills. One of our participants, Diana, even met a childhood friend here after 40 years during the tour!. It was all such a blast. Then we made our way back.

This tour is very good even if a bit hectic. I enjoyed my time with this tour and recommend it highly to any one in Lisbon looking to spend a day out. Thanks a lot Leonel and insideLisbon!

Definitely recommend this tour company! It first started with some confusion as we booked over the weekend....they accepted our reservation but didn't have enough seats in the van on the day of the tour!. But Inside Lisbon was able to rectify the situation quickly with patience and charm. Another tour guide drove us back to their HQS, quickly grabbed another tour guide, and found us another van...which resulted in a private tour! We had an exceptional and knowledgeable local named Hugo as our new guide. He was one of the best tour guides! He made the tour memorable even during a pandemic;. he had vast knowledge of the area but focused on the unique history and trivia facts at each site. He shared tips only locals would know, including a little-known hill path that overlooked the bay in Nazare. He made us feel like old friends who were sharing memories and jokes along the way. We had a great experience!

We had a lovely day tour with four stops and plenty of time in each place to explore on your own. The van seats 7 passengers and is very comfortable. Our guide was knowledgeable and pleasant. I particularly liked the medieval town of Obidos!

The church at Fatima and Nazare were very beautiful. Obidos was my favorite. Everything was incredibly preserved and the whole town has the feel of a renaissance fair. Obidos is a must see in Portugal. We also got to see the church of victory with is probably the most beautiful church I've ever seen. But what really made this experience amazing was our wonderful, knowledgeable, kind, and funny guide Nu Nu.
