Overview

Cruise the glittering waters of Ria Formosa Natural Park on a 3-hour sailing trip from Faro. After you climb aboard a luxurious catamaran, sail to natural landmarks like Deserta Island and Farol Island and scour the scenery for sightings of exotic birds. Observe the lives of locals as you listen to history and culture-rich commentary from your guide. Receive personalized attention on this small-group tour, limited to 10 passengers.

What to Expect
After choosing from a morning or afternoon excursion, start the tour by departing from the Faro Marina. Sail slowly through the channels of the Ria Formosa to fully enjoy the beautiful landscape. Along the way, look out for birds such as the Grey Heron, White Stork, and other native birdlife that frequent the area to feed.

Approaching the islands and beaches, catch a glimpse of the lighthouse of Culatra Island as the boat pulls in for a stop in Farol. Observe the hard work of the people in the oyster and clam farms. Take in the stunning surrounding scenery and see one of the most important sea entrances of the Ria Formosa.

Upon leaving Farol, make a stop at Deserta Island, also known as Barreta Island. Explore the fauna and flora of the island along an easy walk or simply enjoy the sunshine and bathe in the clear waters of the beach. On the trip back to Faro, enjoy the tranquility of one of the seven wonders of Portugal, the Ria Formosa.
