Small-Group Amsterdam Canal Ring Walking Tour
US$26.19
Overview
Make the most of your time in Amsterdam on a 2-hour walking tour of the Amsterdam Canal Ring, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In a small-group limited to 15, you’ll wander past iconic Amsterdam canal houses and churches, and learn about the district’s 400-year-old history. See the lively Dam Square and Rembrandtplein, and conclude your tour with a Dutch treat and coffee.
What to Expect
It is impossible to imagine Amsterdam without its canals. The UNESCO-listed Amsterdam Canal Ring is by far the most beautiful part of town, with its canal houses, prestigious churches, and over 400 years of history.

This 2-hour walking tour starts at Dam Square by meeting your local guide.  Departing Dam Square,  the tour starts by hitting the Canal District.  The first stop is the back door of the city where you will enjoy a cheese tasting with Reypenaer. From there get ready to go back in time to the beginning of the Golden Age, when thousands of people annually knocked on the doors of Amsterdam, adding to its growing wealth. The city of Amsterdam was bursting at the seams. Your local guide explains how the expansion of Amsterdam was built and how you can still see this in the architecture. Pass by important canal houses and learn in detail about the hidden and complicated system of waterworks controlling the water levels.

Combine the history of the canal district and the different styles of the canal houses with the specialties of the local entrepreneurs of this neighborhood, like shops with local products and antiques, local restaurants and lunchrooms and different museums you can’t miss out on.

The tour ends close to Rembrandtplein, where coffee and a Dutch treat awaits you.
