Amsterdam Countryside Bike Tour Including Cheese Tasting and Clog Demonstration

Select Date and Travelers
2 travelers
Leave the bustle of the city behind on a 4-hour countryside bike tour from Amsterdam. Take a leisurely ride along the banks of the Amstel River and hear about local history and rural Dutch traditions, and admire the scenery of the city’s green spaces.

The majority of the tour is spent riding along the Amstel River beyond the edge of town and through the polder landscape with its rectilinear ditches and dikes. We’ll show you two of the few remaining authentic windmills and we visit an eccentric and entertaining Dutch farmer at his cheese farm/clog factory.  At the farm they will demonstrate the traditional art of making wooden shoes and famous Gouda cheese. Afterwards you’ll be able to have a look around in their little gift shop and taste some free samples of authentic Dutch cheese.
  • Bike through Amsterdam’s countryside with a guide who knows the way
  • Visit a historical farmhouse and factory, and sample Dutch cheese
  • Learn about lesser-known Dutch history and traditions
  • If it rains, this tour provides rain ponchos
  • Bike and helmet rental is included in the tour price
What to Expect
Meet for this Amsterdam bike tour in central Amsterdam. Get set up with a bike and helmet for the ride through the countryside. Start by biking through the city, along canals, and over bridges. Along your route, your guide tells you interesting facts about the area’s history and culture. As you make your way into the countryside, catch sight of houseboats and locals fishing. One of your stops is at a farmhouse. Try cheese that’s made there, and watch a clog-making demonstration before stopping at the iconic De Riekermolen windmill for a photo op. On your bike ride back to the city center, pass through some of Amsterdam’s parks including Vondelpark, Amsterdamse Bos, and Beatrixpark. Your guided tour ends when you make it back to the city, and turn in your bike and helmet.

Easy bike ride in the country side for those that will like to visit some unique handicrafts. I was expecting little bit more of typical windmills, but it was ok anyway.
