Sicily’s romantic atmosphere and unconventional history has seduced visitors for millennia, but they're easy to miss in the bustle of modern travel. Upgrade to end your tour with food and wine tastings or a traditional fish dinner at a local restaurant.
What to Expect

Your personal local English speaking tour leader will pick you up at your hotel or port at your preferred hour, and you will drive by a private comfortable air-conditioned car along the Ionian Coast. Private tour exclusively for your party – nobody else, to ensure the highest standards for our guests.

First stop is Savoca, a medieval hilltop town where Michael Corleone was hiding out during the “going to the mattresses” time. Here you will visit Bar Vitelli, which looks exactly the way it did in the movie, and see the exact spot where Michael informed Apollonia’s father that his name was Corleone, and that “there are people who'd pay a lot of money for that information, but then your daughter would lose a father instead of gaining a husband”. Here you can take pictures with an authentic Sicilian shotgun “Lupara”, see pictures from the movie and a monument for Coppola, enjoy the sea view from the square where the wedding scene was shot, purchase The Godfather souvenirs, and – “leave the gun, take the cannoli” - taste original Sicilian cannoli and lemon granita.

Then you will visit a church of Santa Lucia where Michael and Apollonia got married. Then follow the same path down the hill into town that the newlyweds did, and visit another ancient church of the 13th century. Your guide will tell you about the filming process and trivia about the movie, the director and the actors, some of them we could also meet on the streets, like an actress who played Apollonia’s mother and who still lives in Savoca. Your friendly guide will introduce you the real history of Sicilian Mafia. You will listen how it raised and developed, about its structure, about the law of silence “Omerta”, about “men of respect” and the “Boss of the bosses” who became a prototype of Don Corleone.

Then optionally you can visit one of the best wine bars in Savoca where on a terrace with romantic sea view you can taste different types of excellent Sicilian wines and traditional food (locally produced cheeses, salami, prosciutto, caponata, home-made jelly, olives, domestic olive oil and fresh home-made bread).

We will continue the tour in Forza D'Agro, another stunning hilltop town. You will walk the abandoned streets (“Where have all men gone?” – “They’re dead from vendettas”), see the historic square and pictures from the movie, visit ancient churches – Santissima Trinita and Santissima Annunziata, see the piazza where young Vito Andolini (later Vito Corleone) escaped Don Ciccio’s men by hiding in a basket on a donkey’s back, walk up to see the remains of a Norman castle of the 12th century, admire panoramic view of the Ionian coastline, and get a flavor of the Sicilian pastoral lifestyle remained unchanged since ancient times.

Then, you can optionally have lunch or dinner at one of the best fish restaurants in Sicily and taste 10 different types of traditional fish dishes, with a company of fine Sicilian wines.
