What to expect
Set off on a stroll around the narrow streets of the Bari Old Town. Stop for a look at the pilgrimage church of the Basilica of St. Nicholas. Dedicated to the saint whose legend became Santa Claus, the church houses his holy remains in an ornate crypt. See the Cathedral of St. Sabinus, and admire the nearby 12th-century Swabian Castle.  Continue through the Old Town to scout out the best eateries with your guide. Stop at a pastry bakery to sample focaccia barese. Bite into creamy burrata as you learn about cheese and salami at a delicatessen; sip wine as you hear about the region’s wine-making heritage; and discover the secrets of rich, homemade ice cream as you eat one, of course. Finish with a visit to the modern French part of the city, where opera theaters, luxury boutiques, and a seaside market can be found. Your tour ends with a hotel drop-off. Please note: A minimum of two people is required per booking.

Italy, Bari - Discovering South-Italy through the Old town
Feb 2020 • Friends
We arrived to Bari on a rainy Friday afternoon and participated in the gastro-cultural walk of Velo Services. It was a great experience. The beautiful Old town has its special South-Italian atmosphere with the narrow streets, motorbikes, flowers and the ladies that prepares their traditional pasta in their houses. Our tour guide was Jade, she has a great knowledge about Puglia and Bari. She told us lots of interesting facts and legends. We tasted the delicious tipical local food together. She did even the extra mile, my friend had birthday and she organized a nice little surprise for him.

Hi Dalmyy, what a pleasure to meet you here on TripAdvisor! We are so happy you really enjoyed our street food walking tour and we're pleased you had the opportunity to appreciate every single aspect of our wonderful old city. Velo Service mission is to show how tourism can be deeper and more impressive if it's linked with direct experiences and customized tours. That's what you tried, and what we consider the best way to show our Apulia. Our food, mixed with a pinch of history, achitecture and a spoon of our folklore, make up the perfect recipe to make Bari get in your heart and stay there for a long while. We really thank you for your amazing feedback and for expressly rewarding the great work of our guide Jade. We hope that many customers want to follow your advice. Hope to see you again soon, have a nice day!

Wonderful Way to Meet Bari
With our lovely and personable tour guide Alessia, we wound through the narrow streets of the old city of Bari. We partook of history and samplings of the very best food this charming town has to offer. The offerings are impressive: the best focaccia in all of Italy, hand fashioned fresh pasta, delectable meats and cheeses, and, finally, award winning gelato. As one strolled the streets there were many explanations of the cultural life and history of this sunny port.

To save a bundle, buy your tickets through the local tourist information office.

Taste of Bari
We had the perfect tour for Italy. A well guided walk through the old town of Bari, sampling food along the way. Our guide, Maria Luisa, was sweet, knowledgeable and had a comfortable, relaxed style. We first toured St. Nicolas church, then off we went thru the old town streets. Be careful and watch for bikes and motorcycles.

We watched experienced women make handmade pasta and ate some! Delizioso! Also had focaccia bread, as well as cheese meat trays with wine. Topped off with gelato, of course! Our group, having just met on this tour, got along really well, which also added to the afternoon.

The walking was not difficult but needed to be careful on the uneven cobbles and steps. Tour was just over 3 hrs in length.

Best tour ever
Aug 2019 • Couples
We were pleased with our walking food tour. We arrived in Bari on a cruise, we met our tour service right on the pier. Our group was small, way better than the crowded cruise tours. Our guide Stefania was the best! We enjoyed her guidance so much! She took us to all the best places! The food and wine was so delicious!!!Thanks Stefania! If ever in Bari again, we will go back!!

Walking Food and wine tour Old Bari town
Jul 2019 • Couples
We had a fab tour with Alessandra as our guide. Very knowledgeable and shared some interesting facts about the old town.
After a short stroll we hit our 1st stop at a bar were we sampled aperitif and vino, simple but satisfying. Then we walked thru the old town and experienced pasta making (a skill passed down thru generations) followed by a visit to Nona’s home where we sampled the cooked pasta & another vino. Nona was very hospitable and entertaining 😁. Our last stop was to sample gelato.
Thanks Alessandra and Velo tours for a great tour!

Great Tour and Great People
I arrived in Bari early this morning and had only this one day free. I wanted to take advantage and see "Bari Vecchio" in my limited time and booked this tour at the nearby tourist office. In addition to walking around the historic part of the city and getting some information on the traditions and historic buildings and churches, this tour includes a number of stops to sample local dishes. Basically, this was my lunch and what a lunch it was!! I want to also give top, top compliments to our guide Alessandra. We did the tour in Italian but I also heard her speaking English to another group. The tours are available in Italian, English, French and Spanish (and maybe other languages. Not sure). Alessandra was friendly, funny, full of stories, informative and attentive. It felt more like walking around with friends rather than being a client.

Silvia did an excellent job as our tour guide. This was our first time in Bari and we were able to learn some history, see some interesting sites, and eat some delicious food. Amazing food and historical walking tour
Oct 2018 • Couples
We wanted to explore the city and sample some of the amazing food that Bari had to offer so what better way than a street food walking tour.

We met our guide Sylvia (who was excellent) and she took us through the historical old town of Bari, pointing out things we would probably never have noticed if we had done this on our own.

We sampled plenty of food along the way and probably the best ice cream I've every eaten.

I would highly recommend. They also have a bike and ricksaw version for those interested and I have heard good things also.

Partly disappointed
Our guide, Vladdy, was punctual, polite, well prepared and really enjoyed his company.
It wasn't a good idea to start at 4pm because he told us that it was still siesta time - which actually lasted after 6pm!
He took us in a traditional barese family kitchen. The lady invited us to try and make the fresh orecchiette. Suddenly her son came out of nowhere, shouting foul language and making fun of his granny. We were afraid of his behavior. We felt unwelcome, and for tasting, we were only given a couple of spoonfuls of pasta with watery tomato paste, not presentable at all.
The salumiere plate was nicely presented, tasty and quite a portion. Focaccia was tasty but quite small

Dear Rita, thanks a lot for choosing our Street Food Walking Tour and for leaving us your precious review. The mission of Velo Service is to show how tourism can be deeper and more impressive if connected to direct experiences. This is what you have tried and what we consider the best way to show our Puglia. We apologize for the small inconvenience: our tipical folklore can be breathed thanks to many small moments of real life in the Bari Vecchia's houses, just like the homemade food, the history or the architecture. All these things represents the perfect recipe for letting Bari into your heart and staying there for a long time. Anyway, we really thank you for your feedback.and for expressly rewarding the great work of our guide Vladdy. We hope to see you again soon!

Gioseppe did a great job
Sep 2018 • Friends
Great morning well spent visiting the key sites in the old town of Bari
Met at the office very east to find there were only four of us in the group the walking itself was very easy all on mostly flat surfaces although remember it’s cobbles and paving stones too so may be slippery when wet
Gioseppe did a great job imparting his knowledge of the area and the food after the walk was Yumm the Foccacia was sublime as was the pasta and the gelato also excellent
It was lovely to see the rapport he had with the locals as well as his obvious pride as a local
I would Re come down this tour it’s light but does the job
