Overview
Venice has a rich culinary culture, but it can be hard for visitors to avoid tourist traps. On this tour, follow your guide to locally loved eateries. Begin at Rialto Market, where you chat with vendors and learn about Venice’s food heritage. Then, cross the Grand Canal in a gondola to the Cannaregio district, where snacks, pasta, and beverages await. A small-group size makes for a personalized experience.

Highlights
  • Skip the tourist traps and visit eateries that local Venetians frequent
  • Learn all about the city’s rich food heritage from your guide
  • Enjoy cicchetti, a pasta meal, several glasses of wine, and more
  • Take a gondola ride across the Grand Canal
What to Expect
Meet your guide in central Venice. Your tour starts in the morning and lasts through lunchtime, so be sure to come hungry. First, head to the bustling Rialto Market, where locals come to buy daily food essentials. Interact with stallholders, and discuss Venice’s rich food heritage with your guide. Then, board a gondola to cross the Grand Canal to Cannaregio, one of Venice’s most lively districts that’s off the typical tourist trail. Stop at a local bar for cicchetti—Venice’s answer to Spanish tapas—and a glass of wine, prosecco, or spritz. Then visit a second bar to sample fritti, traditional fried snacks. Your final stop is at a neighborhood trattoria, where you enjoy a classic plate of pasta and a glass of wine. The tour concludes back near the Rialto Bridge.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your tour of Venitian cuisine with Barbara! What better way to get a taste for the city than a pre-planned, local food tour.
