Meet your guide at the fountain in the middle of the Campo San Giacomo di Rialto, just steps from the Rialto Bridge. Your tour kicks off in the morning and will be held over lunchtime; be sure to come hungry, as you’ll be doing lots of tasting.
Your first stop is the bustling Rialto Market, where locals come to buy fresh produce, fish, and other daily essentials. Learn more from the stallholders, and discuss Venice’s rich food heritage with your guide. Afterwards, you’ll stroll past more butchers, spice shops, and other traditional vendors.
Then, hop aboard a gondola and cross the Grand Canal to Cannaregio, one of Venice’s most lively districts, and off the typical tourist trail. Stop at a local bar for cicchetti—Venice’s answer to Spanish tapas—and a glass of wine, prosecco, or spritz. Afterwards, you’ll visit a second bar to sample fritti, or traditional fried snacks that are popular in Venice.
Your final stop is at a neighborhood trattoria, where you’ll enjoy a classic plate of pasta, washed down with another glass of wine. After lunch, the tour concludes near the Rialto Bridge.
