About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- CAROL T0 contributionsThe visit to Milan was fantastic but will think twice before using a tour serviceNever took the Tour with trip advisor. Became too expensive fa one hour Tour, ss you cut the Tour and was only willing to give 10% credit on a $151 price per person. We did the Tour on our own for freeWritten September 15, 2024
- thebaldcritic0 contributionsJaw Dropping Postcard-Like Views of the Swiss Alps and Glacial LakesHighly recommend ‘Swiss Alps Bernina Red Train and St. Mortiz Tour From Milan’. Zani Viaggi Largo Cairoli gave us clear and helpful information of the meeting point, time and what you need to bring – yes, you definitely need to bring a valid passport for entry purposes into Switzerland but we weren’t asked for passports when we did cross the border, buy hey… do you really want to take unnecessary risks? They have also advised to wear layered clothing due to unforeseen weather conditions up in the alps. We were greeted by our tour guide, Antonio (if memory serves me correctly) and his bus driver Massimo. We boarded the bus from Milan to St. Moritz (drove pass Lake Como), we had a bathroom break in between, about 1.5hr drive for our pit stop at a café/supermarket, an opportunity to buy a snack if you didn’t have time to have breakfast due to an early start of 7am. Then continued on with our travels to St. Moritz (approximately 2.5hrs all up travel time to reach St. Moritz). Antonio gave us an overview along our travels until we arrived in St. Moritz, guided us through this quaint, neat little town in St. Moritz and further commentary of what St. Moritz is known for and what the town have to offer. Then we had free time for ourselves to explore St. Moritz further, taking photos of their monuments and grab something to have for lunch before boarding the train. After a couple of hours in St. Moritz, it was time to board the second-class Bernina Red Train and see Switzerland’s alpine views – the train ride was approximately 2.5hrs. The Bernina Red Train is indeed a second-class, rickety old train but we didn’t mind the train. The best part about this train is that you can slide the windows down and take perfect photos of the magnificent alpine views without the reflections of the windows. Our tour guide prepared us for upcoming magnificent views of the Swiss Alps or glacial lakes, so we won’t miss out on postcard-like photo opportunities and also shared with us a bit of history of the area. Then we boarded off the train in Tirano, we had a bit of spare time there for a bathroom break or buy snacks or a gelato and then back onto the original coach, heading back to our meeting point in Milan (3hrs drive), arrival time was close to 8pm… yes, it is an all-day trip. Both bus and train rides were comfortable and there were enough bathroom breaks along the way. You would definitely return with lots of scenic photo memories, we were fortunate enough that the passengers across the aisle from us, allowed us to walk over to take the best photos. But if you’re quick enough, you can walk to the door of the carriage to get those amazing photos without annoying other passengers. Antonio was great at his job but his microphone needs to be updated. When he spoke, it cut out many times and when we could hear him, his volume was way too loud to appreciate what he was sharing. A better option would be to upgrade to a quietvox like the majority of the tours we have been on, works well. As for Massimo, he has unique mad driving skills. He displays exceptionally high-skilled driving standards, the way he manoeuvred a coach through the narrow winding passes, without any difficulties was beyond belief. We knew we were in good hands, in fact, I believe he could drive that coach blindfolded. Tips: [1] While travelling on the coach to St. Moritz, select the left-hand side for the best scenic views but don’t worry if you can’t, you do get nice views on the right-hand side, just not as much. [2] Definitely sit on the right-hand side of the train – in the direction of travel, about 85% of the best views are on the right-hand side of the train. Now, if I have to share any annoyance of this tour, it would be the audio equipment was beyond horrible and hopping onto the train – it was fully packed and unpleasant.Written September 14, 2024
- GLMS-NC0 contributionsWorst tour ever taken. Avoid at all costs.Worst tour ever. Guide was awful. Audio equipment she used was beyond horrible. Our Duomo tour was cancelled due to an event and we were never told until we checked in. Advertised 1.5 hours and took 4. Tour group was way too large. Guide seems to talk endlessly on irrelevant details and we could have seen much more. While this tour sounds good, it’s awful. Save yourself and book something else. You will be glad you did.Written September 11, 2024
- johnnB5492QX0 contributionsLast Supper tourAt the start of the tour we were advised that there’d be free time to look around, well this didn’t happen. Our tour guide was very informative, but way too informative and because of this she didn’t seem engaging and she was very monotone so unfortunately some people had then lost interest in the tour. When people remove the ear piece it’s a clear indication they’ve lost the attention of the guide. Thank goodness she organised a bus from Duomo di Malano to Last Supper (2km).Written September 8, 2024
- voltboyee0 contributionsAwesome excursion to stunning locationsThis was an awesome trip that managed to pack a lot in with just the right amount of solo exploration time. Our guide Alessandra was delightful and really made the trip.Written September 8, 2024

- B4489EVsamanthal0 contributionsDO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR ITS A SCAMDO NOT BOOK ITS A SCAM. Please be cautious and avoid booking with this service, as it appears to be a scam. I purchased a tour last night at 9 PM (NY time), which was 3 AM in Italy. I booked this for November 11, but the confirmation email incorrectly indicated that I had booked it for today, September 4. As soon as I realized this error this morning, I contacted TripAdvisor and the tour operator, but they refused to issue a refund. The tour is scheduled to start at 7:15 AM today, and because I booked it just three hours prior, they consider me a no-show. I will be arriving in Italy in November, and the only alternative they offered was to change the date to the end of September, which is unacceptable and feels like a scam. This is very expensive for them not to offer any solutions. Horrible experience and horrible customer service.Written September 4, 2024
- Jane P0 contributionsWould Not RecommendThe group was too large. The guide had no identifying marker like a flag or umbrella which made her had to find in a crowd. The guide had a very thick Italian accent which made her difficult to understand. The guide’s voice was very grating and had irritating infections, the microphone she used was not attached to her body so at times the microphone was too close to her mouth causing static through my ear piece. It stated transport by private bus however we were put on a hop on/off bus that stopped along the way to let people off. A very disappointing way to finish our time in ITALY.Written September 3, 2024

- plcasey3410 contributionsExcellent would use againThe tour was run very professionally and was bang on time at all points , Veronica gave good information and descriptions throughout and arranged boat trips in Sirmione , Katya was excellent in Verona had really good knowledge and had arranged entrance to the arena includedWritten August 31, 2024
- 316LeeP0 contributionsBreathtakingly Beautiful……Boarded the train at St Moritz 2 1/2 latter alighted at Tirana……. The Bernina Red Train is a train connecting St.Moritz in Switzerland and Tirano in Italy, by crossing the Swiss Alps, For most of its journey, the train also runs along the World Heritage Site known as the Rhaetian Railway in the Albula / Bernina Landscapes. The Bernina Express uses gradients of 7% to negotiate the difference in height of about 1,800 m (5,900 ft) from the summit at Ospizio Bernina to Tirano. Consequently stunning vistas, deep valleys with towns below and along the way we passed a number of lakes and 2 glaciers…so very picturesque and well worth the early start and late finish. Alighting the train Tirano and bud back to Milan……Awesome day.Written August 25, 2024
- antsdancing10 contributionsStay awayThis tour is advertised as “bilingual “ , don’t let that fool you. The only English words the guide knows are “left, right, waterfall and lake”. Oh, I forgot “tip”, that English word has been mastered by him. My friend got fooled booking this thinking it’s the Bernina Express, it’s not, it’s the red train for half the Bernina line. They stopped at a bad restaurant in the middle of nowhere in the morning, obviously paid substantial $$ by this place or else no one would ever stop there. Additionally, the one bathroom was broken, which becomes important given the bus has no bathroom. Speaking of the bus, not only does it not have room for your legs in you are over 5’7”(and it’s unbearable) , I also got my leg crushed by the person in front on me jamming the seat back - although not really their fault- one pull of the lever and the seat rockets back to destroy the person sitting behind. In st moritz the restaurant is the same awful type as the first stop, then board the train, but you have to sit in the assigned 2nd class car of the tour - which is packed and offers little view if not sitting next to the window (and few get to sit there). The rest of the train was empty. The bus picks you up in Torino- empty your bladder in Torino because it’s a 3 plus hour bus ride back (in very cramped conditions). The road is under construction. There is a nice highway from Torino to Milan that is about an hour forty five minute drive, but unfortunately this tour is too cheap to pay the minimal toll required. In summary, STAY AWAYWritten August 23, 2024
- V8212XFjuliea0 contributionsInflexible companyDon't use this company. Totally inflexible with the Seravelle shopping tour. We wanted to come back early as one of our party was ill but we're told we had to wait another 2 hours by the very officious Colin who was rude to me when I looked at his badge to gain his name for this review.Written August 22, 2024

- DayTrip6041600 contributionsReviewThe sound quality of the guide was very poor. We could t hear her for most of the tour, which is what is driving my rating. Way too much time spent at the Scala Theatre. The Last Supper was last and was the best part of the tourWritten August 13, 2024

We arrived in Genoa and were take on a walking tour that was in an unsafe area. The guide told us there were drug dealers and prostitutes and to be careful and there were!! There wasn't anything to really even see on this walking tour...
This tour was a total disaster, we got to Santa Margherita and rushed through lunch to meet for a boat ride that never happened!!
We were told to get on a city bus, crammed with people driving through tiny winding roads while standing on a bus to see Portifino for 20 minutes. This trip was poorly planned and poorly run and I want a refund for my day wasted...

Does this trip include going to Genova and coming back or they just help us out with the day trip and then we are on our own to go wherever we want?
I want to go to Genova and Portofino and stay in one of these places for the night. Is that possible?

Where do you meet the guide? how many people are on the tour? What time do you return?
Written April 29, 2018
You meet the guide at the Visitor's Center of the Viator Agency. We had only 11 people on the tour and returned at about 7.30 pm .I must add that the brochure mentioned free time and lunch in Genoa but no free time and lunch was a quick sandwich in St.Margharita in order to be albe to see some of this place (or Portofino if you prefer)...A bit disappointing because Genoa is a beautiful place and unfortunately we hardly spent 2 hours there as also mentioned in the leaflet.
