Private Tour: Ancient Rome by Car

Customize your itinerary on a private tour of ancient Rome and set your own pace during a full day of sightseeing. Your own personal driver transports you around the city so you can skip the hassle of finding your way around. Stop to explore important landmarks such as the Colosseum, the catacombs, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and more. Entrance fees not included.

What to Expect

Start your day with a pickup from your Rome hotel. The start time is up to you, but early morning pickups are recommended to avoid the crowds that appear later in the day.

With your driver-guide, you’ll travel into the heart of Ancient Rome to see the Colosseum. Listen to your guide to learn about the famous amphitheater and the gruesome gladiator battles that took place inside its walls. If you want to head in, pay your entrance fee direct, and spend 45 minutes exploring on your own.

Your next stop is the Roman catacombs, a tangle of tunnels beneath the city where Rome’s early Christians buried their dead. Head underground to explore some of them on a 45-minute guided tour.

Back above ground, you’ll visit the Appian Way, the ancient Roman road that once connected the capital to the coast. It’s believed to be one of the first roads built by human hands. Continue to Circus Maximus where the Romans raced chariots, and gaze at what’s left of it as you take in views of Palatine Hill.

Hear tips for places to eat lunch, and then resume your tour of the city. Visit the Pantheon, and Spanish Steps, then stop to throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain for luck.

Your tour finishes with a hotel drop-off.
