Highlights
Sample authentic Italian dishes on a guided food tour in Rome
Discover the tradition of aperitivo: wine or prosecco and hors d’oeuvres
Visit a variety of eateries to eat courses from cheese to pizza to dessert
Get to know Trastevere and learn where to dine next during your stay
What to expect
Meet your guide near the Campo de' Fiori square in central Rome in the early evening. Arrive with an empty stomach so you have plenty of room to sample foods at each stop. Start your guided Roman food tour with traditional Italian aperitivo—a glass of Italian prosecco or wine and hors d'oeuvres. For your next course, cross the Ponte Sisto bridge into the foodie neighborhood of Trastevere where you’ll sample a variety of meats and cheese before moving onto pizza, local Italian pasta dishes, and dessert. Come prepared to walk a moderate distance from restaurant to restaurant, which will help work up an appetite to eat at a minimum of six stops. Your tour concludes in the city center, near Largo Argentina.

Tasty .. Lovely .. Fantastic
Oct 2020
The Food Tour was exceptionally refreshing, which was not only due to the excellent selection of food and restaurant, Francine, our tour guide, radiated an extraordinary enthusiasm for Rome that carried you away, whether you wanted to or not. If I ever come back to Rome, I would book this tour again immediately.

Great food and lots of information
Feb 2020 • Couples
This tour met Al our expectations and more. We tasted a range of foods including some which we never expected in Rome. We got some interesting information about Italian foods plus we saw parts of Rome that we would not see otherwise. Recommended for all good lovers but do it early in your visit so you can go back to where you've visited.

Amazing
Feb 2020 • Family
My mom and booked this food tour to introduce to the Roman culture! Our tour guide, Monika, was incredible. She was on time, funny, and knowledgeable! Monika answered any questions we had with excellent responses and feedback. The food selection was incredible!!! So much to eat, but delicious and not too overwhelming. This was a great experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Rome!

Great food experience!
Oct 2019
This was a really great food adventure. Our guide was Merrill, who is actually from the Netherlands, but was fluent in Italian language and history. She was a great guide, and took us to a number of cafes and restaurants to sample mortadella pizza (don't knock it till you try it), delicious cod filets, pastas, and gelatto. Of course, there was wine, which is an absolute necessity! This food tour was our 3rd tour on that day with the Roman Guy tour company. Earlier in the day, we toured the Vatican, St. Peter's, and the Sistine Chapel, then the Colosseum, and I highly recommend them for any tour.

Even bored teenagers loved this one
Led by the wonderful Monica, the tour was the highlight of our family's holiday in Rome. My two teenage boys, who never get excited about anything these days, still say they had the most fun that evening. We sampled some great food and learned about their origins. The dinner was great and was the most authentic Roman style meal we had during our stay. Visiting in January, the tour size was also small with only three teams, eight people in total, but that enabled us to get to know each other and share great stories. Monica was super great, very considerate of our needs, even taking us through the Jewish Ghetto and telling us the stories around the area. All in all, great fun! Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Rome.

The best way to see a city
Dec 2019
Is through it's food ..and when the city is as vast as Rome, some local knowledge is really useful. Thanks to Meryl, we sampled and ate truly local food in truly local restaurants. Trastevere was a bit of a find - we enjoyed a couple more mezls on this sixe of the river. Our dining companions were also lovely and it was a very convivial evening. We also had some great tips to follow up on our own. If you're going to do a food tour, I reckon it's always a good idea to do it on the first night so you can use the tips and knowledge during a stay. It certainly worked out for us this time. There is some walking involved which is absolutely fine for us as it helped fit in the next course!

Great evening food tour in Trastavere
Oct 2019
Our guide was Meryl and we ended up with a small group of 6 on our tour. The group was a lot of fun and everyone got along which made for a great evening. Meryl did an amazing job of providing information along the way and describing all of the food and dining stops. We crossed over the Tiber into Trastevere around dusk which made for a magical evening. All the stops were delicious, but our favorite was the restaurant for dinner where we got to try two different pastas, saltimboca, wine and limoncello. This is a great tour to take on your first night in Rome to get acquainted with the food and have a great time. Highly recommend this food tour and the Roman Guy!
