Fabulous introduction to the food of Rome. Dimitri was our host for the evening and could not have been more charming, fun - and knowledgeable. We did this tour on our very first night in Rome, with a view to going back to some of the places that we were introduced to - it gave us a fantastic steer on the kind of food that was available in off the beaten track locations, or places with an unassuming frontage which were just so special. Dimitri is a historian and clearly loved telling us about the history of his beautiful city - I could not rate this tour highly enough and thoroughly recommend it.

What an amazing evening in Rome filled with learning, eating, and meeting wonderful new people from around the world. Dimitri was a perfect host leading us from restaurant to restaurant, introducing us to different tastes of Rome (with awesome local wine pairings) and sharing interesting archeological tidbits along the way. The choice of restaurant for our main meal (Trattoria Casa Mia In Trastevere) was authentic and delicious with great service. Great laughs too - a perfect evening topped with gelato before saying our goodbyes. Definitely an experience that we’ll never forget.

A brilliantly organised trip. The guide Michele was dual Italian/USA national living in Rome, so was deep rooted in the local life. Took us to some fantastic roman eateries and produce shops. He was fully of legitimate information right down to how to pour a glass of wine without offending anyone. Great and thank you. Helen & Martin

Dimitri is the best! We had an amazing time! My girlfriend and I booked this tour for our last day in Rome and it was a great send off! Our tour guide, Dimitri, not only had a great personality but was very knowledgeable on all that the city and its history had to offer. He was humerous and shared a lot of information we were able to take home and share with family and friends. He tied in history, food, and culture - this experience was more than just food tasting. I can’t explain in enough words how great this tour was and I recommend it to anyone!

We had a great time on this tour. Our guide was Dmitri who was outstanding as a host. He introduced us to several places we would not have even considered on our own. We started with a salami/cheese/wine course at a small sausage maker. We then went to a fried fish place which had some crispy and tasty fried cod. Following this we walked to the Trastavere district and found a restaurant with some typical Roman dishes - cacio e pepe, saltimbocca, and pasta amatriciania. This was then completed with gelato at a place with some of the more interesting and unique gelato flavors I have every seen. My wife got a blue cheese gelato that was outstanding. Booking was easy, the instructions were good to meet the host, and the host was great. Highly recommend.

This was a really great food adventure. Our guide was Merrill, who is actually from the Netherlands, but was fluent in Italian language and history. She was a great guide, and took us to a number of cafes and restaurants to sample mortadella pizza (don't knock it till you try it), delicious cod filets, pastas, and gelatto. Of course, there was wine, which is an absolute necessity! This food tour was our 3rd tour on that day with the Roman Guy tour company. Earlier in the day, we toured the Vatican, St. Peter's, and the Sistine Chapel, then the Colosseum, and I highly recommend them for any tour.

Thank you for the lovely words, Ccameron66! Receiving great reviews like these mean the world to us! We're glad to hear you appreciated our local Roman food and that you found that the wine between dishes was an absolute necessity! It was most pleasing to read that you enjoyed all the tours with us and that you had a great time with The Tour Guy! Don't forget to recommend us to your friends and family. Grazie e a presto! Marco

Dimitri was a great guide being friendly and very informative of the local area and food options available to a visitor to Travestere. There is much more to see and want to explore in the area after the tour. It was amazing to taste the different wild boar salami. The fried baccala was an unexpected and delicious stop. Dinner was delicious but can’t wait to taste cacio e Pepe and amatriana again. We will all be informed in identifying the better gelato shops, there are so many in the area.

My wife and I really enjoyed our evening with our tour guide Mike, born in Rome and fully fluent in English with an American parent. His love and passion for Rome and food was readily apparent. While it was very early in the season in late February, I appreciated Mike not canceling our tour; it added to our experience being on a small tour with just him with not too many tourists around. Mike gave us great insights into Palazzo Farnese, Campo de Fiori and Trastevere. .We started in Palazzo Farnese and walked to Campo de Fiori where we spent time in two quite different establishments, one serving various salami/meat and another fried fish. We ended the evening in Trastevere where we had a good dinner and wine in one restaurant and gelato in another area. Really good food and I really enjoyed speaking with and gaining interesting insights into the food and local culture from Mike.

We came into Rome for a week to celebrate our anniversary. We wanted to do the food tour the first night so we can get some ideas on where to eat for the rest of the week. This was a perfect idea.
The tour was about 4 hours. It started with a meat and cheese platter with wine. Then, we went somewhere for fried cod and wine. I HATE fish, but this was really good. It didn't smell or taste like fish. Then, we dined outside at a restaurant and ate dinner. It was the best cacio e pepe of our trip. Finally, we headed to gelato. This was the best gelato of our trip. I actually went back the night before we left.
The Tour was wonderful and we fell in love with Trastevere. This was our main dinner destination while in Rome.
Francesca was so sweet. She enjoyed talking to all of us and even handled a difficult couple in our group with perfection.
This was our first of three tours we took. Every single one was absolutely amazing.
We had to cancel our first trip due to the lock down, we had a B&B cancel due to closing, and had a tour cancel due to someone getting covid and we never once felt stressed with our plans. The Tour Guy got hold of us first on all of these and helped us with solutions. I would HIGHLY recommend them with your travels. I would, also, recommend this food tour.

My mom and booked this food tour to introduce to the Roman culture! Our tour guide, Monika, was incredible. She was on time, funny, and knowledgeable! Monika answered any questions we had with excellent responses and feedback. The food selection was incredible!!! So much to eat, but delicious and not too overwhelming. This was a great experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Rome!
