Great experience at The Vatican!
Jun 2021 • Solo
I had an excellent tour of the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica with Raffa in June 2021. Booking and communication was excellent prior to the tour and I learned so much! Worth the money. - Matt from Chicago.

Outstanding tour guide and customer service!
Aug 2020 • Solo
My tour guide, Frank was brilliant! He was a fascinating wealth of knowledge and was really entertaining throughout the tour. I didn’t know what to expect from the Vatican and came away with a whole new perspective on the place after the tour. We were so privileged to have been in the Vatican when it was so quiet, just after COVID and couldn’t have asked for a better guide. It felt really special. The Roman Guy’s customer service overall is outstanding. I had also booked a Colosseum tour with them too but because of reasons outside of their control with COVID they had to cancel it because of low numbers and they handled it so well. I can really recommend them as a tour company!

A Positive Update!
May 2020
I am also writing to update a previous review (which I believe was not published due to it's scathing nature!) but I want to say that this company has done a complete turn around. Not only did I receive a refund for the above tour and two others that I had booked and then had to cancel when my flights and cruise were cancelled, but I will happily book with this company again. I sincerely hope that it will be next summer but it will happen as soon as we can safely travel to Italy.

I have heard that the actual tours are wonderful. I am basing my review on the reputation that made me book the tours in the first place and the integrity that was shown by a struggling company to do right by its customers.

Pick a different Tour operator
Nov 2019
We did not get to see St. Peter's Basilica due to a 'surprise' visit by the Pope. Pretended it was a surprise at 10:00. But it wasn't. On a Colliseum tour earlier that week some people we met said their tour operator would not offer tickets until 1:00 due to a planned papal activity. We walked around the same space A LOT to take up the tour time. The guide was knowledgeable and we could hear fine. But feel like they knew we would only see the Sistine Chapel well ahead of time.

I will say the time spent in the Sistine Chapel was nice, it was early and was not too crowded.

I would rate this as the lowest tour I have taken with Trip Advisor.

OK, but not great
Jan 2020
We'd rate this one of the lower of the 10+ tours we've done around Europe. Got into all the sites, but despite it being the second week of January it was packed with hundreds in the Sistine Chapel. Raffy, our tour guide, tried hard, but between the sound equipment and her accent, She seemed to have lesser command of the topic areas than our tourguide by the same company the next day at the Colosseum, who was excellent. I had trouble following her commentary and several other members were very lost. You do get in and around much more quickly, so the entrance worked. We got to all the sites.

Lucina from The Roman Guy was amazing - very passionate, friendly and informative. Would have liked a headset however as it was at times difficult to hear even in a small group. Loved that she explained to us before entering what to expect, what to look out for and the significance of those. Allowed us to have a better experience. Appreciated the fact that she was one of very few guides that respected the instruction to be silent in the Sistine Chapel - a holy, sacred place should be treated as such.

Worth every penny
Took a tour this morning with Jad, and he was great! Definitely recommend the early access! Jad was very engaging and answered all of our questions! He made the tour interesting for our teenagers- they said it didn’t feel like a three hour tour! 😉 The lines outside St. Peter’s Basilica wrapped around the square, so it’s worth paying for a tour to skip the lines! You also enjoy what you are seeing when you know what it is, and a tour guide is much more interesting than a book (in my opinion)

Ciao Bryn93, What a pleasure to read your excellent feedback about our tour and most importantly the service delivered by Jad. It was most pleasing to hear that overall you enjoyed the privilege of skipping the lines and that your teenagers had a fun and easy day with The Tour Guy. We’ll surely pass on your kind words and great feedback to Jed. We’re here for you anytime! See you soon, Marco

Nothing privileged about the entrance. Still very crowded. The tour guide was great but we had to wait outside before opening a half hour.

Hello Kiyasha87, Thank you for your review. We’re sorry to hear you didn't have a great experience, but we really appreciate you found our guide great. With our Early Tours, we're able to enter the museums a full hour before the main crowds. The line that you had to wait in is only for security although along the outside we know that it doesn't appear this way. You may reach our Customer Service team anytime at +1 888 290 5595. Again, thank you for your feedback! Marco

Amazing - worth every cent!
Dec 2019 • Family
This tour was amazing!! We had access to the Vatican in the early hours of the morning, had no lines to wait in and could walk freely throughout the tour without having thousands of other tourists trying to take a photo. Our guide, Raffa, was great and shared a concise but interesting history of the Vatican and it’s sites. The best part of this tour was access to the Sistine chapel - for 20 minutes we sat and walked around the chapel with only a handful of others. This tour is worth every cent, highly recommend!!
