I could not rate this tour and the company highly enough. My husband and I did a 4 hour tour with the lovely Camilla on the 6th August. Her knowledge of the city and it's history was extensive, and she adjusted the tour when we said we'd been to the Colosseum the previous day, so that we could take in the beautiful Garden of Oranges - this turned out to be my favourite part of the tour and we would never have visited it otherwise. Segways are definitely the way to travel up the steep hill that leads to spectacular views of the city from the Garden. We covered over 13km and saw squares, fountains, the Pantheon, St Peter's square, the Trevi fountain, the Circus Maximus and many of Rome's beautiful churches. Camilla was full of information and interesting little facts about the city. I would advise anyone travelling to Rome to forget about the bus tours and see the city on Segway.

Before we left on our tour we were chatting in the office and mentioned that it was our first time in Rome and that we were on honeymoon (it came up as I signed my new surname). Upon our return to the office there was a bottle of Prosecco waiting on us - this was completely unexpected and a real touch of class.

Huge thanks to Camilla and Turtle Tours - this was the highlight of our trip to Rome.

We did the 4 hr afternoon tour, with Orlando as our guide. I can not recommend Orlando enough - book a private tour and request him!! His passion for architecture and history shows constantly! (He’s starting his art history PhD, and loves everything about his city!!) He was extremely knowledgeable, passionate, patient and always made sure we felt safe. He was happy to answer questions, and to point out good photo locations for our little figurine - Danbo.

The segways are easy to use, and allowed us to cover a large amount of ground in the time: Campo de’fiori, Piazza Farnese, Castel Sant’Angelo, St Peter’s basilica, Piazza Navona, Piazza del Popolo, Spanish steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and we would’ve seen Colosseum except heavy rain started and the tour was cut short. Turtle tours were wonderful though and let us come back another day for a free 1 hr tour to cover the colosseum to make up what we missed on the first day (although this was cut short again by heavy rain! But such is life when doing outdoor tours!)

In short - book a tour, and ask for Orlando if possible!
